"If it wasn't for Virtua Fighter, the PlayStation probably would have had a completely different hardware concept," said former Sony Computer Entertainment producer Ryoji Akagawa.
Wired.com recently published an article How Virtua Fighter Saved PlayStation's Bacon where it is revealed that SEGA's Virtua Fighter was the inspiration for Sony to use 3-D graphics for its PlayStation console, a move which arguably contributed to SEGA's exit from the console hardware business.

This was written by AlexMD, VFDCer from Melbourne, Australia, almost a year ago for OMR (my apologies -_-). In the article, AlexMD uses examples from his own gaming experience on how our own ego can hinder the growth of our scene and community.
Before Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown was announced and in an effort to keep the community alive, Rodnutz took an initiative by starting up a newsletter. This later became known as One More Round (OMR). Unfortunately, due to the amount of time and effort needed to make these issues, the OMR project has ended. Several articles written by members of the VFDC community never got released. To rectify this, these articles are being posted here. Before Final Showdown was released, Chief Flash and Chefboy wrote their first impressions of the game at Final Round. Now that many months have passed, what are people's opinion of the game now?
Do you play Pai? A fan of Pai? This event stream is for you! Pai players from Japan gathered together for a tournament in Ooyama Newton. This will be the last VFR Seed Trial 5on5 Team Battle event before the Beat-Tribe Cup this coming October. The Sega Apollo World Cup have 140 players participating in this event. While most of the teams come from western Japan, players from northern, eastern, and southern Japan have gathered together in Osaka for this tournament! In cooperation with Sega, the event will be streamed by VF.TV Live.
At Summer Jam 6, veteran VFDCer Rodnutz (also known as Konjou Akira) was interviewed by Put that Back. In the ten minute interview he talks about Virtua Fighter, Dead or Alive, 2D games, and gaming in general.
