I'm pleased to announced that the VF5FS Wiki is finally available! You can access it by following the Wiki link in the main menu.
The first seeded 5on5 tournament in the Virtua Fighter Relationship's (VFR) 14th season took place this past weekend (January 13th, 2013). The seeded VFR tournaments give the most valuable player in the winning team a favorable position in the Beat Tribe Cup. The Newton Cup is unique in that it encourages the players to form teams based on the concept of "generations" - common bonds shared between players for a fighting game series in its 20th year. 160 players in 32 teams total participated in this event.
For Evo 2013, 7 games have been named on the official line-up - Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, Super Street Fighter IV, Tekken Tag Tournament 2, Street Fighter x Tekken, Mortal Kombat 9, King of Fighters XIII, and Persona 4 Arena. While Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown was not announced as one of the 7 games, it is still possible for it to be in the official Evo game lineup. On the Wake Up Shoryuken stream, MrWizard (An organizer of Evo) mentioned that any game from the previous Facebook poll that had more than 500 votes is eligible (Final Showdown had 800 plus votes). They have tied these games to a donation drive for the Breast Cancer Research Fund. The game with the most donations will be announced as the 8th game
Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown has made the roster for SoCal Regionals! Here's your chance to participate in something awesome! Remember to prepare by competing at Wednesday Night Fights!

After a little break in 2012, SoCal Regionals returns bigger and better for the fighting game community in 2013! We're excited to announce our return to Irvine in collaboration with the Fighting Gamers @ UCI for 3 full days of fighting games action!
On January 5th, 2013 - 9 PM JST, there will be a special nico nico stream (register for the timeshift if you can't watch the entire event at the stated time) for a 16-man online invitational tournament for Virtua Fighter 2.1. The list of players include players from other game communities. A list of the players participating and description of the event (in Japanese) can be found in the original article from Battlecore's Virtua Dojo.
Happy New Year to all Virtua Fighters! I think we can all agree that this past year has been nothing short of EPIC with the release of Final Showdown on consoles, SEGA's amazing support for the western VF scenes around the world, and fronting up $15,000 USD prize money for a tournament at Evo 2012! Who could have predicted all of that happening? What will 2013 have in store?
As part of an interview series with members of the community, I had a short chat with Gerald Abraham (LA Akira). For those unaware, the “Reignite Your Inner Fighter” trailers before VF5FS was released on consoles were made by LA Akira’s company Industry VFX. He also helped organize and run the VF5FS portion of Wednesday Night Fights (WNF), a local weekly fighting games tournament for the greater Los Angeles metropolitan area. On December 13th, I asked LA Akira a variety of questions mostly pertaining to VF5FS at WNF, community support, and the upcoming SoCal Regionals on January 18th, 2013.
Its been a while since the last news post summarizing the past events. So here is an extra large collection of vids. If I miss any or made any errors, let us know! As we approach the new year, here are some bigger events people should look out for and/or plan to participate in! Europe: WGC 2013 (Mar. 1). Japan: Newton Cup 2013 (Jan. 13). North America: SoCal Regionals (Jan. 18) / Winter Brawl 7 (Feb. 23) / Final Round 16 (Mar. 29) / Sega Cup (Apr. 20).
For those who can't get enough of Virtua Fighter and AM2 titles, there will be an approximately 2 hour Nico Nico Christmas stream (8 to 10 PM JST) with the Tetsujins: Shinjuku Jacky, Kyasao, Ikebukuro Sarah, and BunBunMaru. Tetsujins are the titles given to a small group of strong players during the 1990s that became part of the Virtua Fighter cultural phenomenon in Japan. They will be playing both Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown and Virtua Fighter 2. In addition, information on the last Model 2 Collection games that have not been released yet - Virtua Striker and Cyber Troopers: Virtual-On - will be on the stream. If you are interested in watching this later, you might want to check out the Nico Nico stream and registered for the "TimeShift."
