[IMG]This is it! There are 193 people in total registered for the VF5FS tournament at EVO this year! Thanks to all for the great turnout!

Bracket schedules and challonge brackets are available in the next post!

VFDC wishes everyone the best of luck, hope that you all stay safe and enjoy a fantastic event!
[IMG] The fifth week of WNFs with VF5FS will be happening when that clock reaches zero! In the last tournament, L A, GoatCheese Blues and DRE finished in the Top 3. Let's see if new challengers step up to take their spots!

WNFs are hosted at the Super Arcade in Walnut, California with the tourney to start ~ 9 PM PST. Casuals start at 7 PM PST. $5 to get in. $5 to enter the tournament.

Last week saw 30 players entered. Looking for 40+. Let's do this!

For past summaries of the previous events, please check the
Wednesday Night Fights - Weekly VF5FS Tournaments Summary Thread. For those that don't live in the Los Angeles area, the event will be streamed at the Level|Up Live Channel.

Update: The tournament was a five-person Round Robin (everyone plays everyone twice) followed by a Three out of Five Grand Finals between first and second place.

M-Type had the most wins in Round Robin followed by DRE. They battled it out with a best 3 out of 5 in the Grand Finals. DRE reset the bracket and came back to win first place.
[IMG] Since the release of Final Showdown, the community have been showing their creativity and/or providing useful information. Since it is highly unlikely that each person browse through every single thread on VFDC, we want to highlight some of these contributions by a weekly roundup! So here is a short list of links that you might be unaware of, but may be of interest to you. If you think something should be highlighted for next week's roundup, PM one of the moderators about it!

VF5FS Online Warrior Videos - by Archangel, interesting commentaries accompanying his online matches.

Virtua Fighter Final Showdown - Fight Choreography - A wonderfully staged fight between Jacky and Lau by LunarDeity.

VF5FS Item Win Pose List - initiated by Feck and specific details on how to choose each unique item win pose by DRE.
[IMG] VFDC presents the first public draft of The VF Circuit - the free region-based online events mentioned in the VFDC Online Events Feedback Thread in early April! There will be more details about the VF Circuit after Evo 2012, but for now please view the document and provide any feedback (everything is subject to change).

VF Circuit: Season One Public Draft (Version 0.9) - requires free Adobe Reader to view.

Finally, I want to say thank you very much to those that have preregistered for these events. Early registration helps immensely to the organization of these events and also in determining the prizes. As an incentive to get people to register for the season before the first tournament is announced, you will be given 1 bonus point for either the PS3 League or Xbox 360 League. As a token of appreciation to those that have registered before the first public draft, there will also be a "small gift" for you at the end of the season.
[IMG] A long interview (written by Hameko, photographs by Ohsu Akira) was posted at 4 Gamer Website (Japanese) that highlights Dead or Alive (Page 1), the collaboration between Tecmo Koei and Sega (Page 2), and Virtua Fighter (Page 3).

Members of the Virtua Fighter AM2 arcade team - Daichi Katagiri and Takeyuki Haneda (aka Shinjuku Jacky) - represented the Sega portion of the interview. While a complete translation will likely take a while (any volunteers?), interesting portions from the interview--which includes VF5FS sales, the 30 second room match wait, the future outlook of Virtua Fighter, and professional players are posted in the second post of this news topic!

Update: Full Translation by Reno of Page 2 and Page 3
While, AM2's Console Port Twitter had announced earlier that sales of VF5FS has exceeded expectations in the Japanese marketplace, Sega of America and Europe Community Teams recently tweeted global download number for Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown.

天翔神 (Tenshoushin - Soaring Sky God) is the highest ranked title in Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown. Since Final Showdown was released in Summer 2010, only a few players have reached the coveted rank. The first was Itoshun (BR), the second was Joseph (AK), and the third and most recent one was Sarudera (JA). What's unique about the highest rank in Final Showdown is that it's not permanent - there can only be one!

At the end of the 2012 Tokyo Bay Area Cup Vol. 5, the Second Tenshoushin Ranking Battles were fought between the defending Tenshoushin champion, Itoshun, and the new challenger: Sarudera! Did Itoshun, "the VF King," continue his reign as the best? Or will Sarudera take his coveted throne!?

Check out the archive of the battles in the video below, or see the next post for the results.
