honestly, i'm thinking about building another stick with a PS360+ PCB when the time and money line up for me the right way and i'm debating whether or not i should go with a hitbox layout. Tricky uses a hitbox and it seems as though VF is still VERY playable even on a hitbox-style layout. plus, in VF a hitbox doesn't really provide any notable advantages other than maybe easier box stepping and fast-input execution for certain moves, but with enough practice you can do that on a stick anyway.

The PS360+ PCB is not in production. The folks who made them had a manufacturing error (word on the street) so it's highly unlikely you'll come across any new boards any time soon.

I recommend hitbox, your wrists will thank you when you get older.

according to canadianjoysticks.com, the PS360+ PCBs are due to be ready by mid-December. unless something happened between September and now that i'm not aware of, i was going to wait to see what would happen around mid-December.

plus, i'd want the PS360+ over something like the MC Cthulhu because it has the 360 board built in. buying a MC Cthulhu and an Imp chip plus a 360 PCB would end up being more than $60... :(

ehh, if it really comes down to the wire, i might just get a Hitbox directly from their manufacturer. i'd be down $225 for a dual-modded Hitbox but i'd be getting the solid aluminum case instead of the acrylic DIY tek-case i was going to get.

Hey let me know how that goes because I need to duel mod my stick too. I wanted to use the PS360+ too. Is there a waitlist or are they going to be able to meet demand?

i don't know if there's a waitlist, but focusattack isn't allowing pre-orders as they don't know the exact date for expected production and canadianjoysticks lists December 11 or something as the ETA. i don't know if you could pre-order those from them but it's worth a look. it's about the same amount as they'd be on focusattack ($59.95)

Why are up and down reversed? To make it more fair? :p just kidding..

But why would you design it like that? Even if the guy who designed it can't help but think of the space bar as a "jump" button, it seems like one of his friends would have told him "You're doing it wrong".

I have never even touched one so I can't say anything about it. But when I pretend to play on one, I can't imagine why you'd reverse them..

You press down far more often than up so it gets the prime spot next to left/right

I also gonna add I feel totally fluent in using my main character with the hitbox now. There is nothing I could do on joystick that I can't on hotbox without thinking about my hands now. The only real benefit I feel now is that I am more deliberate in my directions and I have almost no hand strain. That said I still feel like I'm unlocking the hidden potential I have available to me through this input method.

Ok. Well I guess that would help with less strain that seemed to be the selling point for you. The only problem is my right hand is what gets tired and strained when I play. I have a tendency to slam the buttons hard and tip tap on the stick. With a hitbox, I'd probably bring down my whole entertainment center. I'd still like to build one though to have as part of a collection. This is a great thread by the way..

apparently the dual-mod Hitbox i ordered got to my house already, but i won't be able to play with it until Friday night... :\

i'll post my thoughts on it (along with maybe a video review) when i play around with it more

Slamming the buttons even on the regular joystick can be a problem when you're at a tournament and your opponent is sitting 2 feet away. They can hear those button presses and anticipate what you're about to do just from listening. I'm all about pressing the buttons as lightly as I can so that you can't hear what i'm pressing. Funny enough the duct tape I used to fill in the gaps in my button holes actually double as sound dampers so my stick barely makes any sound. That comes in handy when I can hear your presses and you can't hear mine.

I know AJS_ hates the fact that he can't tell my PKG button presses from my directional ones. One more minor advantage for the hitbox.

Many people here around play on pad only. I will say 90 % of FG players we have are pad players. They are using the clicking sound of stick players for the very some advantage.

i've played around with the Hitbox a bit and it feels so portable lol. all but one of the buttons are 24mm Sanwa buttons. the other one (for the UP direction) is a 30mm button. it feels like a keyboard.

right now i'm going to look for a 2mm allen key and see how i open up this baby. i'm guessing i have to remove the rubber feet on the bottom, which i hope isn't a problem because i feel this sleek stick needs a set of rubber feet.

eventually i'll make a video review of this arcade pad. so far it's tricky re-wiring my brain to get my moves going, but i think i'll grasp it soon enough. i may even have to change my PKG layout from square-triangle-X to triangle-R1-square since doing it the way i'm used to feels too close together.

I love my hitbox's size, as one of the shorter early models. I carry it in a small tote bag that I carry everywhere anyway. I also have the easiest time wrapping and unwrapping the cord, and I have the extra wire bundled near the USB plug, which makes figuring out which stick is mine a very simple task.

You have rubber feet on the bottom? Why would you need that? I have the same usual sleek metal bottom. Since you aren't jamming a stick everywhere, the box doesn't really move at all. I would like to get that nice felt material on there like the Qwanbas have to keep it from sliding around things like plastic tables.

I suggest continuing to try to adapt to where the buttons are by default, as I think that's something that became more comfortable over a short period of time for me iirc. I can switch between all 30mm buttons to my hitbox with ease nowadays.

I hope you're liking the box, and that it treats you well.

it appears as though mine has threaded rivets on the top panel and 2mm allen screws on the bottom. have you modded yours before? i wonder how i'm going to have to go about removing the rivets from the top panel to swap the art.

Mine has six allen screws on top, though I've taken out two permanently. The bottom is not removable. I'm sorry but your hitbox doesn't really seem to be a similar model. Maybe Zass or someone else with a more recent model will know more.
