Heh heh...for best flip-out, we had a guy actually get up onto the control stand and jump up and down on it...kinda freaky, considering he's about 6'4" (anybody from MN reading this _has_ to know who I'm talking about here).

criterion: people i played extensively and had over 50% win percentage over me. If there was more than one person per character, i picked the best player.

familiar faces i've never played extensively: bungle, the entire toronto guys (except emil), brian mak, mike skupa, clopin.

as you can tell, my list is very biased, especially in the japan side. but no personal favoritism included, all decisions based on pure vf stuff.

well...jason if you're reading this, you've also played some of the guys (such as m.k.lau, zeus) in Kashiwa, Japan. i never got to apologize to you as my friends can sometimes be complete fuks when playing vf.

Why does everyone have to point this out at every possible opportunity

I point this out in the hope that you don't do it again. And it's not "everyone" pointing it out, it's just me, and I believe it's only the second time. In any case, I didn't like what you did, especially considering we all met for the first time, you were a guest in someone else's house, and you went all-out on a beginner who was a close friend of the people that were hosting you. Not very sportsman-like at all. I think it's very obvious when your opponent isn't having fun and is struggling to stay on his feet for more than 5 seconds. I think it's also pretty obvious when you know you're clearly a better player than your opponent. And as the better player, I expected more from you. Again, in Sydney you were hosted by me and my friends, and there were times where you dispayed the same kind of behaviour to guys who don't really play the game as hardcore as we do.

I'd excuse this kind of behaviour (only just) in an arcade where people were waiting to play with their coins queued up, and only against similarly minded (hardcore) opponents. But we weren't in that kind of environment. I'd like to think the next time we meet that you aren't always so intent on winning against everyone, and confident enough in your game to just lighten up a little and have fun. Of course, the choice is always yours.

hey thanks shota! no surprise to see chibita in the list, but is 'yami-yodare' not there because you've never played him, or simply because he doesn't rank highly enough in your estimations (when compared with zeus and skeleton)?
oh, and, piccolo: you were right: half way there now! (well nearly. 23 so far)

Actually Mike it isn't just you who has mentioned it,I've had emails from people who weren't there criticising me (obviously people you've told) though SummErs wasn't one of them and if you recall he said "don't think you've offended us".It seems to me if I get any kind of win streak than you accuse me of picking on people or playing too seriously.I hate to break it to you but I was having fun and was experimenting with various traps that I'd never had the chance to try out before in a versus game.I was impressed with Kim and Juniors skill and was never trying to show them up only to expand my game.Doesn't the fact that you are the only one who brings it up telling you something?.

During your stay in Melbourne you didn't hand anyone any matches and were perfectly happy to rack up big win streaks so I hate to use the word hypocrite but...

Oh and no I don't think you're petty for ignoring my birthday thread :) I actually thought we were on good terms after and during Sydney still hopefully we can sort all this out when you get back from Montreal.:)

i've never played yami-yodare, only got to watch him play. Yami-yodare is undoubtedly the strongest in Japan as he even has a nickname "Mr. Perfect". He has not lost once in the last three athena cup (i.e. for year and half)...which is quite amazing.

It's not like I had access to your emails eh? As far as I knew, I was the only one making those statements publicly, and if the people that I had supposedly told went ahead and criticised you privately then I guess I owe them my thanks for betraying my trust, and budding their nose into something that wasn't their business.

It seems to me if I get any kind of win streak than you accuse me of picking on people or playing too seriously.

That is so ridiculuous. I have never once picked on your "win streaks" and I don't know why you even bring that up. On both occasions I've only expressed my dislike for your attitude and playing style towards beginners. You've even admitted to losing it, going into kill-mode against Yuhi, and I saw a bit of that against my friends whilst you were in Sydney.

I hate to break it to you but I was having fun and was experimenting with various traps that I'd never had the chance to try out before in a versus game.

Nothing wrong with that. Read the above paragraph.

Doesn't the fact that you are the only one who brings it up telling you something?

Yeah, maybe it tells me that I'm the only one who frequents this site? All the guys you met in Sydney don't visit here, nor are they into VF like you and me are. Maybe it tells me that I'm the only one who cares for the way you play? If you don't want me to care, then I won't. Just don't expect me to go out of my way and impose on friends just to host you the next time you're up here. We're not an arcade, nor a public gaming service. You're welcome if you like a good challenge and are fun to be around in general (on and off games), but if all you do is play like you have something to prove, then forget it.

During your stay in Melbourne you didn't hand anyone any matches and were perfectly happy to rack up big win streaks so I hate to use the word hypocrite but...

Please. All my matches against Yuhi went the full stretch because I knew he wouldn't have fun if I just wiped the floor with him. Throwing a round to someone is no big deal for me in a situation like that. However, I don't think he was even close to notching up a single round with you. You shut him down at every opportunity, and I was looking at the other guys thinking "what's up with that?" Did you notice that we let Yuhi keep on playing against you after he lost? Did you ever think about why we did that? Wasn't the silence defeaning?

Anyway, I went all out against you, SummErs and Shun only because I knew you could take it.

I'd like to think we're still on good terms although I know my criticism is harsh. Local hardcore VFers are hard to come by and I'm glad I got to meet you guys down there.

Re: Ah well, the third party is here

This will be a very short post, I promise /images/icons/smile.gif

Unlike the other psychotic long post I wrote with no responses/images/icons/frown.gif

Dun get angry at me guys, but I actually laughed when I read the last few posts. After all, I've just been crashing at a gf's place(going over tonite again/images/icons/smile.gif)

    Wasn't expecting it...but I'll be fair n square. That's the way I am.

Regarding to the comments made to Doomboy:
There's truth in it. I know Yuhi was extremely pissed at u when u totally KOed him non stop....From his point of view, he felt bullied. Plus, I told him b4 hand u n Myke were fun to play with. So he was totally unprepared to be RO, KO, P, K, TFT ect.....

The truth is, Myke did have big winning streaks (Thank god, I'm usually the one that ends em!!!! KSSSSH /images/icons/smile.gif)

Yet, another truth was, WE ALL HAD FUN PLAYING WITH MYKE! WE, as in, Doomboy, Shun, ME, YUHI. Yuhi had fun with Myke esp. Even though Myke was basically showing Yuhi the As, Bs, Cs of the game...and winning him at the same time..he loved it!

Yet against you, He hated it. Mind u, He don't dislike u as a person. He just hated ur style of play. And I mean HATE!
Even with me, there was one time, in the ONE GAME, I won him in straight sets...he had a ugly face. N this is my style we are talking about.

Does it sound like I'm standing at myke's side here?
I'm not. Heck if I wanted to, I would not have EVEN BOTHERED TO KEEP IN TOUCH WITH U N TALK WITH U OVER THE PHONE.

So to anyone else who's reading this, dun think of Doomboy as a bad person. He's a great person.

So Doomboy, don't think of Myke's postings as a personal attack. He was just pointing out some things which I guess no one ever told u about. Frankly, I really hated ur style when I first played you. If u look back at the tapes we did, U'll see I almost elbow->heelkick u whenever I had the chance. I had to do it because u were ROing me with TFT. There were some games which I totally felt CHEATED. I mean...Here I was, attacking n outguessing U like mad, but one TFT was all u need to win.

I love the Sumo stage...it's exciting cause the area is small...n u have to be fast n agressive to win...but there was one game where U actually PUSHED me out of the ring where the TFT combo failed to.....

I'm GLAD U DUN DO IT ANYMORE....

So, I'll make it clear..it's not a personal attack....it's just a gripe abt ur style.

Then again..u've changed...so I can vote for u right here!

I can also vote for myke he did not meant it as an insult. I know it can be easy to take it the wrong way. I mean, if on my birthday, some guy from the other state post the same kind of things abt me, I would take it as an insult. But trust me on this, it's all bad timming, he did not know it was ur b-day.

So, he did not intend to use those posts to insult u. That, I can vote on it!!!!!

Re: Other side of the field

    Right, time to bash myke!

For those who don't know...heck, only three people know the whole deal, me, myke n doomboy!

In my last post, I was complaining abt RO. Now, Myke has no problem with RO. Heck, the man used Akira to break my guard stance n RO me instantly. Cheap?

NO. Cause I failed to spot that coming.
With Doomboy, he USED(focus on this word guys) to RO at the first chance. That, n the would always choose the Sumo stage. Put two n two together fellas. If some of u still cannot see it, well...ummmm well, next time uf anyone brings this topic up, keep outta it. Last thing I want is Doomboy to be flammed for no reasons.

Myke's, Yuhi's, Shun's biggest complaint was Doomboy would almost always choose Kage, Summo stage...which usually is follwed by a RO.

I admit, there's nothing wrong with RO...but it gets annoyign when u're consistenly ROED at the SAME stage by the SAME characters.

Regarding Doomboy's comment abt myke's winning streaks.
I'll be fair here..He did, more than anyone of us. But yet, liked I mentioned when we first posted the Melbourne games report, he would teach us this n that (while he's happily enjoying kicking us/images/icons/smile.gif)

The BIG DIFF WAS, we felt happy while losing, happy as if we were enlighten that this could be used in this or that manner...but against DOOMBOY, many of us felt cheated.( remeber the hop splash mountain, we all went ' WTF' in a amazed way....but with TFT the 'WTF' was more of 'GOD DAMN CHEAP ASS ' tone)

    BUT AS I'VE STATED B4...
    DOOMBOY IS DIFF NOW!!!!!!!!!

I'm not standing on any side.
Doomboy: myke has a point, which I'll clarify with u next week....n trust me, he did not post them to insult u:)

Myke: Bud, U could have chosen a better time to do this man!!!! Plus, the way u chose to post...it does sound like a personal attack!!!!! If I was a newbie...I would have tot Doomboy is a absolute prick n would not want to have anything to do with him..esp when us both are in Melbourne!
U've been online longer than me...so U should know how things can be misread easily.

That said, I trust u two are mature enuff to not let this miserable thing get in the way of something bigger called friendshipe....cause we all bitch about each other once in a while.

Re: Other side of the field

Ok first of all I agree that we should wrap things up ASAP all I want to say is that I did apologize after the Yuhi incident and as SummErs can say I went to great lengths to change my play style and tried to implement all the things Mike told me to in a previous post.

When I visited Sydney I thought with the exception of Mike we were all fairly well matched and I didn't even have a win streak till the end the only reason I mentioned it was because I was playing fairly I changed my character to Aoi who I wasn't gonna play because I thought she was too weak (Mike I discussed this with you at Galaxy World)I can't remember any easy wins so I assumed that you could only be displeased because at the end of the night I had a win streak though I thought it was earned in the same way your's were earned in Melbourne with creative play (I did use take off kicks reversals inashi etc which aren't the easiest way to win)I was not compareing the way I played in Melbourne to the way you played but rather the way I played in Syd to the way you played in Melb I guess I should have clarified but I typed it up in a bit of a rush.Last but not least the first post I made on this thread was supposed to be a joke hence all the weird content If I was still set in my cheating ways than SummErs would have said so and you would have noticed me playing cheaply in Syd.You may not believe me but I put in a lot of effort to weed the cheapness out of my game play so people would have fun playing with me and that's why I was so offended when It seemed I recieved the ultimatum If you don't change your play style then I'm not gonna make the effort to play you next time.

Yes I know this is an extremely rushed post but I'm sure you'll get what I'm saying, sorry Freddie don't feel like fixing it :)

What about my VF2 dress sense

    i don't remember

    heh...I'm only kidding anyway.

i wanted to say colin leong and jo shun tied for VF2 godliness. i also forgot to add cody wood as best VF2 combo maniac. he seriously made akira kid look boring and old - i saw him do better combos even before i first saw the akira kid tape.

Colin was super cool. Took Hao to school when they matched up with
their Lau's. I never got to meet Mason. tsk.

Jo Shun became a huuuuuge pain in the ass with VF2 after he and
Robby went to war at becoming the best. Both Robby and Jo became
the guys I thought would most stand a chance at going toe to toe
    in an international tournament.

well...i know i'm far from australia, and nor have i been asked for the comment. but i feel compelled to respond to some of the gameplay stuff.

    U'll see I almost elbow->heelkick u whenever I had the chance.

Don't see anything wrong with this. I actually felt like telling you for the longest time too. Elbow-spinkick is a good move but also high risk too. In fact, most of the guessing game against Jacky centers around his elbow-spinkick for the fear of it. I don't fear his kickflip, all those spinning move, etc.

but there was one game where U actually PUSHED me out of the ring where the TFT combo failed to.....

Again...I don't think there's anything wrong with this. I too make an extra effort just so that I DAMN MAKE SURE that I RO my opponent. For example,

Lau: (float) > PPP > Hadoken (won't hit but pushes)
Akira: SDE > DE > SDE (only pushes)

For both cases, I would not have ROed had I not done the last moves. And in the game of VF, I must KILL the guy at every opportunity I have (heh...esp. against Kage for the reasons you mentioned).

You should be glad that you're not playing VF2 though. Even I used to feel sorry for the likes of Pai.

Dunno...personally I have the most fun when two players just go all out and try their hardest to kill each other. No courtesy, no modesty. That's when I get to see all sorts of tricks, cunning strategies in place.

(of course...in the case of a complete beginner, it would be different. Heh...although Harold of Chicago has no remorse slaughtering 10-year kid accompanied by his mom.)

    Look

I never said there was anything wrong with the elbow->heelkick move. I always said I've CHOSEN not to use it.

I think most guessing games against Jacky centers around his elbow-spinkick BECAUSE that's the attack most Jacky players chose to use. Which frankly doesn't bother me. Once again, it's just something I chose not to use.

    Errr, Shota , did I tell ja I don't play VF2 b4??? /images/icons/smile.gif
Had to give up on that due to lack of Vf2 here plus no Sega Saturn until 1997 for me. (kinda late huh/images/icons/smile.gif) So, I'm actually quite unhappy I never got to play VF2. Esp since I've seen matches of it and just wished I actually played VF2

(heh...esp. against Kage for the reasons you mentioned).
Which is why I almost always used the elbow-spinkick combo on Doomboy whenever the chance presents itself.

Like I would never RO an opponent, which is totally crap, any VFer who disregards RO is lying to him/herself (must remember, girls do play this game/images/icons/smile.gif)

However, in order to understand why Me, Myke, Yuhi and Shun were SO ANNOYED by Doomboy's RO, U should either play a game with Doomboy(kinda hard, cause he ain't like that anymore) or get Chancai to show u the tapes as soon as the second batch arrives (damn post office lost the first ones! )

Once again, U're right. If someone has challenged me to a game of VF, I would expect them to use every damn trick, no matter how low it is. I would expect them to use it against me. This way, it makes the game fun for me, trying to counter all those moves is great fun.

But if u're wondering why I'm complaining about the way Doomboy USED to RO me,

HEY MYKE HELP ME OUT TO EXPLAIN IT.!!!!!!!

(oh yah, for me...slaughtering newbies is a big nono. Slaughtering arrogant NEWBIES IS A BIG YES YES!/images/icons/smile.gif)
