Alot of Sarahs moves ends(and starts) with mid kicks(The way people use her) Try gambling, once in a while on using his kick counters(1P+K for mid kick, 4P+K for high kick) Sometimes mixing the RAW with the counters looks SICK! But, you ask what to do when you block that setup. You could 66P+K(Shoulder Attack)Or Dash foward for a throw(Not sure if it's guarantee, but work for me) What's your Gamertag BTW?

The easiest thing to do is his quick shoulder: /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif

Your best options is to dash in real quick after blocking and throw her or try short shoulder combo or toe kick stunner. You should have enough time to nail her before she fully recovers from out the air and landing.

If I was wolf Id propably try dash forward -> /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif~/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif... But /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif is simple, good and effective way to punish most everything.

Another question. A friend of mine taught me some very powerful attack sequences that aren't combos, but are still very powerful. I didn't see these in the wiki or in the VF Guide:

/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif, which staggers on low guard. Then /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif leads to stomach crumple.
Follow with /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif to do about 70% of their life

Also he showed me you can do the same thing with max charge /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif, or max charge /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif. Both of those will cause a stagger on any block, so can be good setups.

Having these weapons in my aresenal has made a huge difference, since I can now just randomly win if I land any of those setup moves.

Are there other move sequences like this I should know about?

Yes, back dash to the edge of the ring. Then just do a Giant Swing or /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif for the win.

I'm guessing the reason they're not in is because /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif is fairly easy to recover from. It's a mid, so you can't guard low against it and it causes a stagger on any hit (except when they're in the air).

That combo works on ANY stagger if you can get the Body Blow in.

The problem with using low throws all the time is that a lot of people will expect them, and will be ready to escape them (that's not to say that a lot won't, but that's beside the point). Use Kenka Kick (/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif) instead of Body Blow. It causes a head crumple and you can do one of the followup throws, neither of which are escapable. They don't do as much damage as the Pedigree one, but they're more reliable.

Also, if your back is to the wall, use /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif then when they hit the wall, use TKS (/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif,/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif). Also, if you're facing the wall, you can use neutral /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif, they'll hit the wall and you can follow with a TKS (102 damage).

I don't think you get a crumple on stagger hit like you do with /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif. Have to test to make sure.

You definitely get the followup throw if kenka kick hits on counter. It absolutely doesn't work on normal hit.

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">Also, if your back is to the wall, use /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif then when they hit the wall, use TKS (/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif,/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif). Also, if you're facing the wall, you can use neutral /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif, they'll hit the wall and you can follow with a TKS (102 damage). </div></div>
These are distance specific. They won't work if both characters are close to the wall.

You do get a head crumple on stagger. I've used it many times. Only /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif and /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif (facing wall) cause head crumple on normal hit. Kenka only does it on counter or after a stagger.

They also don't work that well on El Blaze. He always seems to be able to block the Stunner or it misses him.

Just wanted to give a quick update. Made it to 5th dan online now. I don't have trouble with /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif mashers anymore. In fact it was REALLY satisfying to thrash a Lei-Fei player three games in a row who had beaten me about 10 times in a row a month ago :). I'm having a lot of success with counter hit /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d_.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif. Setting that up with a /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif or after landing /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif works really well against hyper aggressive players that always attack from disadvantage. The better players don't get hit by that and block, but then I can finally set up giant swings or other throws. I also find /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif lands a lot.

I'm also landing DM + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif a lot, which probably won't work against good players. I need to start working OMs more into my fights.

What do people do for okiseme attacks? I don't think I'm doing enough damage once I've knocked my opponent down.

Depends on the position they're in. For example, if I've knocked someone down with Grizzly and they don't techroll, they'll be face up with head to me, so I'll get up close. If they do a recovery kick, you can beat whichever one they choose. High, you do the /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif reversal, low you use /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/uf.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif and follow with a combo. The reversal won't work on Kage though, as he does a flip kick when he gets up from that position.

There are other positions they can be in for that 2 choice situation can happen, and even if you're not in you can also do OM to get into a position where it can.

If they do techroll, use Jumping Elbows, Screw Hooks and throws.

All I can say is thanks for this topic. Wolf is the one VF character I really want to excel at, but I'm new to playing him online and am getting absolutely killed by Lei-Fei and Pai players who spam /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif etc. combos constantly. It seems as though I can never get the advantage, even coming out of block. I know part of this is my lousy execution (which I hope will improve with practice), but the suggestions here definitely help.

Basic jabs kill the PPP game for any character. Once you stop them and have the advantage blow them away with wolf's powerful attacks. The DMP+K get on my last nerve when wolf gets around my Pai's punch strings and gets me with throws over and over. Try that basic tactic to make them think twice about doing linear punches too much

go to a vf gathering in Riverside, Ca if possible. You will lose but you will learn a lot from it. I think they happen on Thursdays

2p is the standard flag bearer for interrupting ppp strings, but its not without risk. Figure out when and where to use it and you'll do much better.

Honestly, if you are new to online vf5 you are going to run into a thousand things that piss you off, cheap tactics that seem insurmountable. All you can do is come on here and ask and people will be glad to help, but the will only be of minimal assistance quite often. the best thing you can do is play play and then play some more. If you stick with it, there will come a time (prolly 2-3000 games in) where you actually appreciate the sorry spammers who only did ppp, or used 2p after everyy move or used dm p+k, etc, as they are who force you to actually grow and evolve as a fighter.

I'm gonna second what smb_is_me said there.

You will be thankful for these people later

    Wolf's RAW (/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif)is very useful against people who just spam /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gifx3 strings.

I find myself longing for Wolf's RAW when I play as other characters.

What the...? Activity in the Wolf forum?

Do the Low Drop Kick (/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif after RAW) against the /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif spam. If they're not too good (which they probably won't be if they just spam /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif) you can go for the ground throw which does more damage (but can be escaped) or a down attack which does less but can't be avoided.

DM/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif is an okay way of avoiding the strings, but don't use it too much or it'll become a crutch for you and you'll start using it at every turn. Then you become a person that no-one wants to play anymore.

Wow, thanks a ton for all the useful help!

I do use DM /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif a lot, probably too much. However, I can't execute it as cleanly online as I can offline, maybe it's the occasional lag or maybe it's me screwing up under pressure.

BTW, this is one friendly forum, especially in comparison to other fighting game forums I've frequented. I'm just getting started, but I'm going to use the advice here to try and become a better Wolf player.

Wolf's RAWK works more than it probably should.

To second what Ash said, if you use DMPK a lot it will become your downfall eventually.
