XBL Bad Games

Ok, but I am curious if people think that he is worth fighting or if the spamming and the constant but not awful level of lag makes it more frustration than it is worth.

He spams jump kick evade shoulder ram so much. You want to dodge the kick, but it seems nearly unevadable and the shoulder seems like it should be interrupted but it eats a ton of moves. Then you want to block, but he has practiced the shit out of Akira's guard break combo. I have never seen anyone get away with being so spammy within Akira-type character. Typically the spammer is a Jacky or Shun or somebody that can spam strings from a distance. I would be curious if anyone has ever played him offline. If all his experience is playing online, it makes sense that he would adopt that weird spammy style and not even think that it really isn't how the game is normally played.

 

I haven't played CraftierNut in a while, but what I remembered from playing him is that he had gotten that blocked/whiffed ascending jumpkick > failed evade crouch dash cancel > shoulder ram tactic down pat. That was pretty much his "go-to" strategy whenever he got in desperation mode and had issues landing that jumpkick on his opponent.

Have to either go for the throw once Akira lands from the jumpkick, or pause briefly and defend against the oncoming shoulder ram. Because even though it's tempting to do so with the way CraftierNut played (or still plays) him, you cannot hit Akira with any attacks before getting off the shoulder ram in this situation unless you do a well-timed quick half circular strike that arcs toward the direction he failed evade-canceled in. The buffered sidestep command after the jumpkick will allow Akira to evade everything else you try to hit him with at this moment. Plus the follow-up shoulder ram would beat out most characters' attempt at a full circular sweep here. And besides, this is not a risk worth taking anyway when the more viable option would be to just deal with the shoulder ram instead.

I found with Aoi you can often reverse his mids, and with Vanessa, DS KK really shuts down his constant evades. Fighting him with Pai frankly is not pleasant. He used to talk on there and join parties, and pop in the occasional room briefly, but I think he has become a bit more of a Ranked lone wolf on there now? I would say he's a fairly strong player who has clearly studied the game, but I can also think of way deadlier AK mainers still active on Live.

 

Oh, and he has the hard hitting guard break 3P+K+G follow-up sequence down, so you really can't G too much. Takes him about 3 goes though. I've tried it myself in Dojo, seems rock hard to key in, even on fresh OBSF-30s.

 

The dude is kind of uncanny. If I can get ultra nerdy: It's like all the weird animals on the Galapagos islands that evolve according to the unusual environment. His game has evolved according to VF life under a consistently slow connection. For example, you dodge one attack and jab him, but had already spammed follow up (not necessarily a string) and you will get counter hit.

It goes like this:

Jump Kick.
Guard Break.

At disadvantage, this flowchart:

Low Punch

-or-

Evade spam flowchart:

Shoulder (most often) 80% of the time
3p+k, 2p, or jump kick occasionally to mix it up.

Like Dention, I get the sense that these routines are the same no matter what player or character he is fighting.

 

That's because the routines are so powerful, especially against people who've never really played VF seriously before. Versus most of the girls, 2 starting hits is pretty much all he needs, and that's game. I lost a lot a lot of matches to CN last year frankly. But then when I started to use Vanessa, and wiped him out fairly quick just with a few circulars, 1P and powerful throws, he stopped challenging me.
Bottom line, the guy wanted a top rank from the get-go, practised some hard-hitting Akira combos, and then carefully orchestrated who he played online to get it.
I can't really say that's 'bad gaming' per se, but I know from the Shoutbox and a few Live messages, he's ruffled a few feathers.

 

Vanessa's kk and k+g would kill him all day. As would Jacky's beat knuckle kick and 46k+g. Lau is weak as far as non-linear mids go. I think that this may be one the main reasons that he is listed as low-tier now. Delayed elbow is out because of the shoulder spam which magically eats elbows. 66p+k is best but he has a 50% chance of dodging it the right way and getting big damage with the evade shoulder spammage. The delayed knee is good, but the lag makes this so much harder for me than for him to just spam. I usually beat him pretty handily, but they are very boring matches - I just try and counter the shit that he does every match. Only the last time did he have the upper hand.

Also I love when I get get counter-hit with his lag enhanced double palm on wake-up.

 

Pretty sure he's a Canuck, so that could explain the delay from wherever you are based. I connect to him OK from the UK. Haven't played him much this year, but looking back, yes, he is very flow-charty, and I guess I understand the game and Akira a bit better now, so can work out options against him.
Isn't Lau's 5KK a double circular? Might not be quick enough at 24 exe. Could try the Chan family classic 1KK to halt the constant stepping and launching. 8K+Gk might hop over his low hitting shoulder ram? You can get throws in, as he doesn't always hit buttons, and never escapes. Dunno if Lau has anything strong off one like Pai's 46P+G though.

 

From what I am reading about this guy he should be in the GG thread.

 

Vanessa's DS CHARGED 3k would throw him off since he is fond of evades. Also OS 66kk is good against him if you are mid range. The second kick is fully circular and the string is safe if its blocked.

this is the reason i usually avoid/don't play you. after observing the way you play vanessa(trying to run gimmicks the whole round) i knew you would probably try and cheat if you were losing. i declined you three times in ranked and finally i gave you a chance(mistake)
i played you several times before and i knew to avoid you after those instances. i been playing fighters for several years and i know who to avoid and who to play. and radical reactor, i lose to happyfriend , stl ,and tricky ALL the time but i never sent them any messages. i don't care about losing i just don't like to be cheated / play players like you. btw you were awfully quick in uploading these messages to vfdc......now do you begin to see why i avoided you?
and i have been on vfdc for a year and a half and my name has NEVER been in the BGS thread. i'm laid back and easy going ,so maybe you are the problem......

 

I never really understood why everyone is so uptight over things like this. Why can't everyone just be chill, and I REALLY would like to know how cheating is defined in this game -I don't think it exists.

 

@lefty: Are you aware of all the shit your are spewing here? Look, I'll break it down for you in real simple terms:
