I have looked it like basically being at an arcade. There are people waiting around to play; you wait; it's your turn; you fight; if you win, you keep fighting. It seems natural and obvious that when you want to leave the arcade it is very likely to be after a loss. I have never been shitty about losing to anyone in room matches or anything of the sort.

I agree with LL that the private rooms are not good. If you are not in one, you can find that there's no one in ranked, no one in player match, and no one in rooms. They really need to fix the room interface. You shold be able to hit quick match and automatically join the first available room. And maybe no private rooms, but instead the ability to kick people if it is unanimous so that no crazy laggers or JCBlack or Dention can join the room. Most weak players are not likely to stick around if they repeatedly get pwned froggy style with no vaseline.

I gonna rib some of you guys here and hope I don't get inflammatory posts in response because this is more funny to me than serious but...

Jhow77, didn't you spend all of VF5 trying to avoid using the game's core mechanics at all costs? You jumped around the ring doing DMPK anytime anyone got near you and bragged about your lack of throw escape ability. It was cool that you found your own style within the game but "VF" is the last thing I would describe it as. Why can't you do the same thing in FS?

Happyfriend, you avoided playing me for years once I started to beat you and constantly called me "cowardly defensive player". So, how have you never been shitty to anyone about losing? You can be a sore loser! Just embrace it...

In the end, I don't really understand the VF5FS is vastly different from the other VF's mentality.

EDIT : Ya know, I kinda feel bad about this post. I've gotten cynical in my old age. : D

I think vast majority do not understand FS, hence why very few play it.

The entire match can turn into nothing more than poking punches and kicks. Which after a while makes the game feel and look extremely boring. Those of us with love for this game as fans, we tolerate it and become immune. While vast majority who just want to explore run from this game like Vampyres from garlic.

In my opinion FS does not feel improved, but rather downgraded. Also, I can't find further review from what was posted back at the release, 06/07 2012.

Last run tomorrow for me. I see no one but Cooladdy on ranked. 3 matches with him today. And no one else for the entired day, second day in a row. Dying game? No I think this game is already dead!

You shouldn't be looking only in ranked for matches silly. Do that and you find people like Cooladdy all day. You need to get involved in rooms more man. When I go into ranked I find no one too aside from the select few. I do find alot of friends in rooms where they all play each other alot. That is where you should be looking for real matches not just ranked. There are still alot of people that play FS they don't all focus on playing ranked matches all the time though you have to remember that before you claim FS is dead and quit playing. You will find better matches in rooms and player matches anyways that should encourage you to find them more often.

No one in room matches either. Friends are offline.

I'll try later this evening when I get back from training. If nothing, I will only play when friends are online. Cause wasting time searching for matches is not worth it.

    Thanks for the tip anyways!

It's not like the Capcom games on Live that you can play any time of the day against any random person almost anywhere. FS, and it was the same with the old part 5 in like 2008, requires a pro-active mentality where you need to get out there and make matches happen.
I would suggest going through the forum, especially the European section, and adding as many tags as possible. You can do this quick and accurately through xbox.com if you log in with your gamer tag.
I had you in a room a few nights ago fine, where you saw quite a few players from both sides of the Atlantic come and go over a 3-4 hour period. Active players are still very much out there, getting stronger, trying out new styles etc.
I know from my own friends list there is a whole Italian crew constantly operating rooms on there in the evenings, so maybe you can ask to join them?

Now don't take this the wrong way, but you keep talking about "poking punches and kicks", and facing boring tactics. Every fighting game ever since the early 90s has this. I have seen you play a fair bit now, and to be honest, it is mainly the same Jacky or Jean strings over and over, with hardly any throws, evades, or successful launcher follow-ups. You don't seem to have any anti 2p tech at all, and throw out moves on a gamble with huge recovery (like Jacky's flying forward kick). So clearly, like myself, you still have more to learn and practice on this game, and maybe once you have a greater understanding of the system mechanics, and individual character traits, you might not be so quick to recklessly slag it off.

A lot of us here waited a long time for this game. Many of the moans you'll hear come from people who just didn't like how their character shaped up this time around. In a 20 year strong series, it's inevitable this will fluctuate. I've seen you play 2 characters so far. Maybe time to explore some more ;)

There are multiple options you have how to find VF is more alive that you ever thought, but as you love to kick people who are trying to help you in guts, please feel free to find them all by yourself.

@ Famed: What is this site here for? Stop complaining about this game being dead crap...Network and you'll find great players...Yes, you might have to PLAN on a time that works best, but do it and learn the game.

I don't remember ever calling you cowardly. If I did, it coulda been the whiskey talking. I do remember thinking at the time that you were a very frustrating nerd. Like, I'd so much as block an elbow and you would evade, DTEG backdash fuzzy. And I was like "fuckin-A! stop tryin so hard!" But I don't disconnect if you join my session and I surely wouldn't leave a room I was hosting if you came in.

Yes this makes a lot of sense.

After 3 to 4 nights staying up till 6 in the morning, I might catch a match or two with some random /x player. As if I got nothing better to do. Than spend my sleepless nights hoping for matches through all 3 contents. You are a genius! Someone give this guy a medal.

With current net code, and most matches being lag free, this gane if it was in any way appealing it should be swarmed with players left and right. Instead a games multiplayer option turns into a desert becaucse of what exacly? Because very few can relate to this game as mentioned. The number is too small. Statistics show clearly that this game is non appealing.

Get back to reality will you? And stop talking like a bedazzled fan-boy!

On a side note, is Crafty Nut good or is he an artful spammer? If it is the latter, is this what VF has come to? One get pretty good results by spamming with Akira? Seriously, what were they thinking when they simplified the shoulder command and made jump kick actually useful like this is Street Fighter or something?

I don't think he understood what was being said. But I do think that the community is doomed to remain small and largely weird. The private rooms are a cancer. If you want to play VF not only must you get a stick and learn the ins and outs of the game and your character and other characters, but you must "network" ? WTF

I don't get why people don't attempt to create an open room. I don't like playing Ranked as much nowadays due to most of the players being much better than me and trying to cherry pick me for BP or rank ups (a lot of -Lords and higher are cherry pickers) and newbies. Room matches are better anyway because there is less incentive for cherry pickers to prey on less skilled players and camaraderie if people plug in their mics.

Heck, Room Matches are a better reflection of the spirit of the VF series anyway. At its core, VF is a no-frills arcade fighting game, with the lack of personality of the characters and the pretty much non-existent story. The "winner stays" model of rooms also accurately simulate the arcade experience.

Happy, HE IS ON A VF COMMUNITY FAN SITE...and he's complaining about there not being anyone to play...Am I missing something?
I understand that there are challenges to finding games depending on the time zone one is in. Yes, network; find players that are on when you are. That IS one of the facets of this site, correct? Case in point: Kanoppio is a Lei player in Italy. I'm in SoCal. Did we eventually hook up on XBL? Yep.

Just like any community there are sub-communities. Find one that is convenient. Play.

If it's too much trouble, move on to the next game; and the next; and the next...
