I always thought room matches promoted community learning, conversing, and the old school arcade feel, but that's just me. Also, I thought player match was intended for quick or private matches used like a room, but that again is just my idea. Honestly, there is no set rule just what I've come to accept over using it over a long period of time. I'm not trying to pick a fight with you I'm trying to understand how to promote the good in you. I would like for you to consider just sparring with us for an hour a week and I think that's not asking much. I could care less about the past atm and just focusing on learning and playing. Please let go of why you don't and consider how you could help us and yourself in the long run.

Sounds like a whole lot of ducking on Tim's part...:)

If you want to fight me more, a good start would be not disconnecting or shutting down rooms that I enter. I feel that I am through Alice's looking glass here.

Besides, I am the last guy that anyone should learn from. I basically learn from playing and my knowledge of different characters is very minimal. I lose all the time to people who are artful spammers with some of the weird characters. And I am not likely to change this. To be frank, I spend a shit load of time studying weightier matters than VF, so I am not likely to ever devote much time to learning FS esoterica, especially when I actually hate the wacky VF5~FS esoterica in the first place and more just prefer the series' core mechanics which have gotten diluted way too much in my opinion.

So, basically, I'll play when I play. Who in their right mind could have a problem with that?

    Cooladdy.

Does anyone even think that this guy has a serious problem?

14k games? He is pushing 1000 games a week. I started before Xmas and I have just above 1k games for more than a month.

I understand nerds exist, but this is beyond obsession!

@ Stl Tm and Happy Friend:

Tim: I think if you host a room, just make it 8 deep with 7 private slots, or whatever. That way randoms don't come in. Additionally, by Happy's confession, he's not interested in learning the game, so you have nothing to learn from him anyway.

    Happy: Do what you do...

    I think that settles it.

    Carry on...

Dude, I will learn through playing and I won't disconnect or refuse to let certain people join my rooms because that kind of thing is not justifiable.

    Happy,

The way I see it, the argument here is between two different approach to VF.

You want to play casually and not be pinned down to a commitment, be it one hour a week or 3 games following your loss or whatever. you gotta get back to your important shit and have no time to waste contributing to TIm's goals or whatever.

Tim on the other hand is trying to get you to commit to a solid session once in a while or not bother at all with him.

Can you respect his wishes? no? if that is your answer, do not bother with him.

Man, you are quite being quite stubborn with this. Do you really not get it? does it really feel like Tim is trying violate your right not to give a fuck ?

I may be wrong but................ I think that's the "air" bit ;)

For the 'record', he's never dropped on me, but it seems he has no interest in expanding or improving his rather basic Sarah patterns, which seems a shame.

No disrespect Happy. What I meant was that your approach and commitment to the game is vastly different than Tim's. Compared to Tim, I'd consider you casual; and that's not negative in any way. I've trained and learn from Tim. Most people don't pay the game the way Tim does.
You guys should just drop it and let things be as they are; go your separate ways.

I play with everybody and I don't care what their VF philosophy is. He's obviously gonna do what he is going to do. The point is, what he chooses to do is crazy, as usual. I occasionally make room matches. I cannot imagine refusing to play someone because that person will not come to longer organized room sessions. This shit is beyond the pale.

Of course this is all likely overthinking it. Tim would not play me in VF5 because I beat him. This whole discussion is likely just nonsense and the reality is that Tim hates losing. It must especially bother him that he loses to me when VF is the center of his life and he studies and trains and thinks that he is a great VF sensei and I come along and spank him with a weak character. All the truly bizarre shit he has written here is just some sad way to try and have some power or something. It is neurotic and pathetic, but that is par for the course.

BGs to WACHILLEB for playing in spite of a crappy connection. The match we played was laggy to the point of being unplayable. What made that match annoying was that his amazing repertoire of 2 strings that he follows with a stomp is viable in laggy conditions.

He of course kept choosing me and then leaving after I refused a rematch because I don't want to play a laggy match. I doubt they will, but Sega needs to patch in filtering by bar rating.

You should play when until you feel like leaving there is no issue with that it isn't like you are forced to play with Tim all the time but you should give fair warning when you are about to leave though. That would clear up this issue you have with tim saying you leave just because you are losing. It doesn't matter if you are losing or winning when you leave it is just a game show some class and don't complain so much. Many of us leave when we are losing and it doesn't matter either overall. All this craziness seems so unneccessary. Do people care about VF so much that they will complain about every single detail like when you are winning or losing? What is the point of that just play for fun what is wrong with that basic concept?

i been noticing that VF netcode isnt as good as it use to be. it use to feel like i was playing offline with 2 or 3 bars. i think sega took a server down or something. they are not going to mantain an optimal netcode on a game that is close to being dead. the netcode was one of the main reasons i play vf. i might be moving on to tekken tag2......

    Damn shame really.

When ever I get the time to play few matches, Either there isn't anyone on ranked while friends are offline or I get some Dan's with shit connection.

The other day I searched ranked for 1 hour while watching a movie on laptop, nothing! Nada! Not a single soul in 1 hour? Really? Grats to those in room matches that have time to play at the same time. Me being in Danmark. I have to either play really late to find 2 matches. Or I might as well not play at all. Shame, I am not surprised really, FS can have matches where people can nearly poke each other to death. No wonder very few play it. I've noticed a lack of ability to land a proper combo in combat without being interrupted by pokes every second. Most matches result in "repetitions".

This game can be tons of fun. But It's a fact that only few can relate to it. FS feels dull, I like all previouse once, not sure why but as a VF lover since it's first release 1993, I simply cannot relate to FS, something feels off. It could be the reason game is dying!

Hope they reconsider making more if not R.I.P VF!

another thing thats hurting vf online is that most of the good players are setting up private rooms an playing each otherall the time. tricky and happyfriend are the only solid players who give me matches these days. the other solid players need to stop being selfesh and play average players more.

I haven't posted in awhile but I think this sums up what I've been feeling since this game came out (and probably why I haven't posted much).

Something that truly bothers me about this game is how rising attacks were changed. I was shocked to find out that delayed rising attacks were now a thing of the past. IMO what comes of this is opponents never fearing a rising opponent. And Shun suffers immensely from this in one particular way:

The most common way to get knocked down results in lying face up / feet towards. Well, Shun has no choice here but to never, ever do an in-place high rising attack, because it will be his scissor kick which f'ing blows! It has no range and leaves you open for about 5,000 frames! In all previous VFs, if you delayed the kick you would get a normal rising attack.
