1. Hey Guest, looking for Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown content? Rest assured that the game is identical to Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown so all current resources on here such as Command Lists with frame data, Combo Lists and the Wiki still apply. However, you can expect some VF5US specific changes to come soon!

    ** OFF TOPIC ALERT **

I actually think some Lians are cute, as long as they don't open their mouths.

Revenue figures needed for poor LA based players

    Hey Adio,

Do you reckon it would be possible to speak to the owner of the arcade and see if he (or she) will give you some figures on how much $ the game is pulling in per week?

The only response I can think of to Sega's apparent reluctance to push the game in the US is to write to them with some figures from other places in the world showing that VF4 is doing well relative to T4, etc.

Can anyone else help with this?

Its Marina South you are referring to right? I think they
"should" have VF4 there, but don't quote me on this. I've
only played VF4 at Bugis and Bedok.

I don't see how this approach can fix the problem. Sega already knows that VF does well outside of the U.S. Sega also sees the flip side, that VF3 did not do so well in the U.S, as far as I know. Because VF3 wasn't as appreciated as much as Tekken3, TTT, and MvC2, it seems that Sega has decided to do the bare minimum in terms of putting VF in the arcades (where I think it's better suited), giving the machines proper maintenance, and stopping the highway robbery of overcharging. These revenue figures would probably hold more weight if they were based on earnings from a U.S. arcade. Maybe that's why Chanchai started this thread in the first place. And after all that is said and done, these revenue figures could probably be watered down even further by outside variables, such as the state of the economy and whatever else.

    Just my two cents...

I definitely agree with everything you say, but I guess my thinking is that VF4 seems to have much more mainstream appeal than VF3. It seems to me the game will do better in the US then VF3 did by virtue of being faster, flashier, etc. Also there's a window to exploit disappointment with T4.

I know I'm being idealistic, but I have to do *something*. I've been anticipating VF4 for months, no years, and I can't stand the thought of it being put off. I've played it *once*... I know it's good, I know I need it. It's so cruel!

Cheers, that's news to me but Fun Land was always weak so i'm not surprised at the quality. The Casino is tiny but everything works and it's clean, except when the smokers are on the scene.

Gribbly, I can ask I guess but as Ghostdog said, overseas figures won't change things in the US. It's down to national demand of the product that dictates it's marketing. Besides, I'm sure Sega get all their data when they maintain the machines.

    Keep your head up mate.

Lians? Er, it's kind of like Singapore's version of trailer park girls. BUT, some of them can look pretty hot as long they don't talk...

Here's someone's response from Hong Kong (from the Gamefaqs VF4 forum which I post once in awhile since some people go there):

In reply to:

I'm playing VF4 in Hong Kong and it rocks. Its very popular just like Virtua Tennis 2 (Power Smash 2). There's always someone playing that game. I think VF4 is way way better than VF3. I think it will have the same success as VF2. The graphics are incredible and the gameplay is a step up from VF3 and even VF2. If Sega doesn't release VF4 and Virtua Tennis 2 in the USA arcades then they are off their rocker! Right now people here in the arcades are playing like crazy.
