Petition time? It only took about a decade for Blizzard to listen to the Diablo fans.

    a) Petitions are for the morons with no brain.
    b) I'd love to hear how anything the Diablo fanbase did actually made a ripple into how Blizzard conducts business.

Blizzard is one of the only companies that pays attention to its fanbase. Whether or not the petition did anything I don't know. But it's no secret that Blizzard has made decisions and changes based on fans and users.

One major change was the fact that the Lead Art Director was replaced with someone new only 2 days after an interview where he basically shits on the fans and their ideas on what direction the game's art needs to be moving. Even though Blizzard commented that the interview and the former directors direction had no play in his removal, its still believed to have been.

I could careless about a petition it was joke. But Blizzard does care and listen to its gamers. Play any of their games and you will see.

So true, so very ture. I don't believe it was coincidence the Art Director "Left" after he shitted on the fans.

I don't disagree with Blizzard listening to their fans. I was inquiring directly about what *Diablo* fans did to get Blizzard to change something, and what that change was.

I am a strong Blizzard supporter, having played all their games for too much of my life it seems. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif I'm an active forum reader and current beta tester for WoTLK.

But I remember nothing of Blizzard making a change due to the Diablo fanbase. Hence my inquiry.

Replacing a management role for being unprofessional to the fanbase had nothing to do with the fans - it was because the guy was unprofessional.

I'm glad to see the petition idea was a joke. Often times you see petitions (on the WoW forums even!) and they hold little to no weight, nor do they have an impact on how a game will be changed, etc. There are far more constructive ways to get a point across as a fanbase.

The issue with the potential "complaints" that we all may have regarding VF5R and a console release, is that while we WANT to be included in the external voice to Sega, we really need to come to terms with the fact that we're not. It's a Japanese market that's calling the shots, not a North American market. Its not going to change anytime soon. So, yes we can all agree that it will be disappointing to NOT get VF5R, nothing we post here about playing DoA4 or Tekken6 or retiring from VF or quitting fighting games altogether will ever have an impact on Sega.

I, like everyone, am keeping my fingers crossed.

Going on any Blizzard forums is like having someone puke fail in your eyes. There is a petition for everything. Its miserable.

Yes I am crossing my sad fingers too. If the game does not get announced then as others have said, we might as well not expect it. In that situation I wish there was something that the fans on this side of the world could do. We can only hope for now...

The thread is far from hijacked, imo. People are concerned of the viability of a console release - I don't see how people relating other game experiences (fan feedback / development, releases, etc) is irrelevant. We all want the game, and we want it better than the barebones we have now for VF5. From all the tidbits and rumours and insider information, it's probable to see something on the TGS agenda.

No doubt the common theme here is: Hope. Wait til TGS soon.

How about Street Fighter 4 and Super Turbo: HD Remix? I look forward to those games more than anything else coming out in the next year.

Fact is that if Sega had any intention of releasing VF5 they would have made some sort of announcement. Even a small press release like 'the game is in development' or 'we are porting it to X console' etc. but there are no signs of anything happening.

VF5R will get the VF4:Final Tuned treatment...meaning it will remain arcade exclusive. I just don't see it any other way, Sega has a terrible track record with the VF series. No online modes, botched releases, no international joystick release, the list could go on nearly forever.

Another console generation of playing Capcom/Street Fighter games for me. While playing VF5 online on the 360 can sometimes be fun.....it far less entertaining once you realize that the latest version, VF5R, will never come to consoles.

It's coming. Stay tuned... or.. go play street fighter.

At E3 2006, sega made a suprise annoucement about vf5 for ps3. So why are you so certain they HAVE to say anything about it early? Not to mention, the virtua fighter 15th anniversary is Novermber this year. You mean to tell me they are just gonna do nothing for that? c'mon.

Uhm, just saying they wouldn't necessarily say anything early about anything.

I hope VF5 did well on XBOX360 because I definitely would want other editions of the game to come out for it, since I just bought the system recently just for VF5.

I bought the system for VF5 as well, but it didn't sell well. The way to get VF in the US is to make it sell.

Run tournies and give it away as prizes, do whatever you have to.

What does it mean if we don't see it at TGS2008?

A couple of years ago we celebrated the 10th anniversary of Virtua Fighter. I have no doubt that in a few more years we'll
be celebrating the 20th anniversary of VF. We'll probably be at VF 6 evolution by then. There will probably be a VF running all three consoles! Yep a wii version of VF. There will be online in both the PS3 and Xbox versions.

So even if we don't see it at tGS2008, a new version is coming to the consoles in the states at some point in the next 18-24 mos.

In the mean time we should be working out that triple throw escape, ETEG, fuzzy guard, safe OM & DM attacks :D, The wall game, make sure we can play with the pad and the stick, from player 2p or player 1p positions, mastering those sabakis, innashis, reversals, and ground games. You have not really played VF until you have lost at least 1000 matches while putting up your best game.

A new version of VF is coming to the states and consoles, but until it gets here. Just keep trying to find that YUMI button
    on your stick /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

    DO I GETS A PRIZE?

A console port later than next year just isn't going to happen imho. It would make little sense financially, because people would have already moved on to console versions of t6 br, sfiv, etc. VF5R console may not be announced at TGS, but if it isnt announced sometime relatively soon (half a year?), its probably better to start figuring out how to get a 5r arcade kit outside of japan.

Exactly. Hardcore Virtua Fighter series fans are always only setting themselves up for major disappointment with this wishful thinking.

Sega with VF4: Final Tuned basically laid down it's plan for VF outside of Japan. Considering that VF4, and a joystick were released for consoles, then 4:Evo was released with two different color joysticks for the PS2 (not to mention a separate 10th anniversary disc that was also bundles into the NA release of VF4:Evo). I think nearly everyone assumed if Sega went that far for VF4:Evo, that Final Tuned was guaranteed to come to the Ps2....

But nevertheless Sega would wait for VF5 to 'exclusively' come to the PS3 sans online multi-player. Then back pedal on their mantra of 'online = bad' by releasing VF5 on the 360 with online play (outside of Japan).

But now with VF5R, any VF fans or fighting game fans in general are stuck playing inferior or out of date versions of Virtua Fighter.

Meanwhile, companies like Capcom are entrusting the latest version of Street Fighter 2 to American developers, and even generating console exclusive content for SF4. Yes while the SF series is much bigger than VF, it's a big difference between Sega NEVER listening to fans outside of Japan and Capcom who hired David Sirlin to personally oversee SF2:HDR.
