I've played Wolf back in VF4 and Evo, but unfortunately I lost interest since I didn't have enough human competition. It's safe to say I have to re-learn Wolf and I would also like to give El Blaze a shot, but Wolf >>>>>>>>>>>>>> in terms of priority.

Thanks for voting everyone. The poll results really do help me decide how to best contribute--already I've posted Aoi's Black Book combos and Akira's top 10 moves as a result of indicated popularity from the poll. If you haven't voted already then please do so!

That's an interesting breakdown. Never knew there were so many Goh fans. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

I'm particularly interested in giving Brad another whirl (played him a bit in Evo), and I'd like to learn Wolf and Shun, if only because I still don't understand them very well despite being around since the days of VF2.. Somehow, those two have always passed me by.

I was gonna say I had an interest in learning how to deal with Lei Fei (I don't really have a desire to play him, but he gives me conniptions when I play against), but I see there's a thread up on that already. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

First Brad; I'd like to actually apply some of my theories and see if he really is the character for me in practice.

Secondly Sarah; it's been a long time since I played VF with any sort of dedication, I'd like to learn/relearn her basics and the subtle changes made to her from EVO to now.

Casually, I wish to experiment with Vanessa and Goh too.

I think I'm now settling on:

    Pai - main
    El Blaze - backup

After I get more time into the game, and get those two really up to par, I'll try to learn a bit of Goh and/or Brad. I'm dumping Aoi. We disagree.

Hey VFers, one character I recommend people try playing is El Blaze. He is extremely fun to play with and not as low tier as intially expected. I heard from Japan that average players widely consider him mid tier now as people figure out what to do with him. Regardless, his combination of speed, throws, and flash bring out the best in VF. Check him out if you still haven't found a main character yet!

... No comments. Pai is boring, huh? I think that u dont know what ur saying...
Maybe she is both easy to use, but she has lot of mixups, inashis, strong defensive and offensive properities. U can really have fun from this char!!! Pai makes lot of satisfaction, when u win using all of her stylish moves and greatly manipulate ur opponent.
BTW, u wanna boring char? So take Jacky. f+PP..., df,df+K, ub+K+G - three moves that u use playing Jacky. Good luck to practice them /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

Yeah, let's totally forget about moves like df,p+k, p+g and any of all his ss attacks. High angle kick rocks btw ~ /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Character preference man, character preference. Don't take it personally if someone knocks your character - God knows I have to deal with it daily.

This, like my opinion, is extremely subjective.

My character breakdown on the debatable factor of "fun":

Akira- for the love of inputs. This guy is fun even if you can't do his best combos. SPoD and Knee= FTW A-Tier

Aoi- Attack cancels, reversals for everything, sabakis out the ass, how is she not fun? Now she is harder to win with... I played SCIII Rock for that reason. Sx12-Tier

Brad- Awesome when you incorporate his ducking, slipping, and sways. If he didn't have these, he'd be generic /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif character. A/B-Tier

Can't say anything about the new characters.

Goh- Unless you make use of sabaki, he feels boring to me now. Too bare bones (though it is all he needs) B-Tier

    Jacky- No. C-Tier

Jeffry- Inputs are too easy, but the fun for him comes from the risk involved. Landing a /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif, though... Sx12-tier.

Kage- He is okay. TFT ringouts are lame though. B-Tier

    Lau- Meh. B/C-Tier

Lei- Too crazy and good. A/B Tier

Lion- Annoying as hell, but that is his purpose. B-Tier

Pai- I like her /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif//forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif reversals, but too pokey. C-Tier

    Sarah- With FL= S-Tier

    Shun- Tons of stances. A-Tier

    Vanessa- Blah. S-Tier

    Wolf- S/A-Tier

    Sarah.

But I also picked Jacky, Vanessa and Brad.

But i think it's going to remain Sarah, as I'll be practicing while I'm overseas.

Sarah reminds me of Tekken's Hwoarang with the flamingo mix ups, and I like.

He isn't too bad. According to Ice-9 and Shin/Sin#, El Blaze is mid-tier now.

Blaze has crappy range, but he has potential. When I get a PS3 I'm giving him a spin.

Aoi has quickly become my go to girl since getting VF5.

I'm surprised that so many people here use her

I do not really know whereto put this but..
Today I had my first 1h session of VF5 :)
Game is really cool, OM move are nice, it was harder to throw...juggles had a little bit different "feeling" PS3 pads sucks, graphics is veeery nice, Akira's face looks like it would be cut"perfectly" /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif but fabric of his costume looks unbelievably. I didn't watch arenas though /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif
And the Best for the end - one of the reasons I wrote my memo about VF5 in this topic was cos of the survey from the first post - I marked El Blaze as a character to learn and Kage cos he is my main character - but this might change in VF5.. el Blaze is great character, he moves on arena very smoothly, his OM (or DM I yet do not know what is what :/) are quite usable, SS+P+K is also very good, in overall I'm definitely going to use Burezu.

When people see the name "Heta Akira", they think that I play with Akira, not knowing that Heta is japanese for Scrub. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/blush.gif

My main character is Aoi, I was lucky enough to be included in the VF5 game as a special character. I am still looking for myself in the game.

Anyway in VF5 I plan to learn the following:

    Aoi
My girl since VF4 (she was my second in VF3). She looks amazing this time but I got to say that in VF5, winning with Aoi is a very dificult thing.

    Sarah
My first character in VF, main in VF3, not too good on VF4, I plan to study her this time.

    Pai
She changed so much from VF3... I will give her a try here too.

    Akira
Maybe work this character enough to avoid the meaning of my name. Ahh, I can do the Knee without any problem. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

ok, now the only problem is where am I going to find all the time for training with all these characters!!

    Heta Akira

My main is Akira, so I plan to continue working towards mastering him.

My second is Aoi and as i've only just started with her i'm not confident with her.

The other character I plan to learn on VF5 are Shun, Eileen and Kage as i sometimes have trouble against them - know your enemy as it were...

    Here's who I know:

    1. Lau - my toughest dude

    2. Jeff - 2nd most playeed, not as tough as my Jacky, but pretty decent

    3. Jacky - my Jacky is pretty good for an American

    4. Wolf - good, but my success goes down against better players

    5. Pai - good, floaty float float

    6. Lion - annoying, pretty fun

    7. Akira - lame, spends too much time doing dlc and trying to spod, likes long walks on the beach and 46 throw against wall followed by p,p,p,p,p,p,p,p,p.

    8. Kage - he is lame, but I love his new hit throw

    9. Blaze - need to learn more, but I like him

    10. Lei Fei - have yet to mess with him too much in 5. I love his new three part throw though
