Agreed. Nothing wrong with voicing our displeasure as we're beating it. I can beat most of the strategies I bitch about, I just don't like them as sole strategies.

I get challenged by 10th Kyu noobs who use two strings over and over and then when they get beat down, they disconnect. Disconnecting is just weak, once you've played ~800 matches with a character you have to ask those people how long they intend to keep that up for. Are they going to disconnect 400 times in 800 matches, every time they lose?

That just seems hopeless and dumb. If you lose, just take it and try to get better. Don't use Lei Fei and spam two strings and then disconnect. When you're record is 4W and 7L and you play some one who has 400W and 400L, wouldn't you realize you're gonna be disconnecting A HELL OF A LOT of times before you get even remotely good. That's the worst!

If you're gonna disconnect then don't challenge me in the first place. I avoid those people every time after they do that, if people disconnect after losing, AVOID PLAYER, "leaving game early"... Every time...

But the one "legit" tactic I truly hate is Lei Fei sweep from one leg that staggers you, then a kick and then the double jump kick. Half your life for the easiest move in the universe?!? That sweep SHOULD NOT stagger you! That is the ONE thing in the whole game that I really do think is cheap. That is a just a cheap mix up, I really think it is. I know people say there's no being cheap in VF but that move is the exception to me...

You should see what Wolf can do if he staggers you and you don't escape.

Oh, Wolf definitely can inhale your life... Stomach crumple into pedigree just eats life bars... I just think that Lei stance (one leg) up close is too hard to stop cause you can't low P or he reverses and you can't stand cause he can sweep and if you duck the standing K juggles too. It's just a frustrating "nitaku" I guess you would call it. It's the amount of damage off of it and the ease of the combo that I think makes it cheap...

If he's delaying long enough to reverse your /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif, you can probably kick him out of the stance. Doku /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif (the low kick that staggers) isn't a sweep, it can be evaded in either direction. If you block it, quite a few characters get a free elbow attack. His staggering mid kick can also be evaded in either direction. His only sweeps from that stance leave him at a disadvantage even on normal hit. If starts trying to throw from stance, you can start using your biggest kick or double-fisted launcher. I'm not saying lei isn't a pain in the ass, but none of his options are invincible or anything.

The only strategy that should truly be outlawed on xboxlive is choosing gamertags like:

Yah. I get killed with that offline when I fight Ken__I's Lei-Fei. The stagger is really nasty, too. Super-hard to struggle out of. He's actually got two of those low-kick staggers - one of them starts with a jump. He makes a slight hop and drops down to the low-kick stagger. That one is REALLY hard to struggle (kind of like Akira's /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif). It gets worse - if you block that one - he's only -6.

There is hope. Gernburgs mentioned the key to beating it - It's noticing the action that precedes it. This kind of stuff is difficult for me and getting easier as I watch more. Hopefully it works the same for you all. BOTH low kick staggers start with other moves and require specific stance to execute. Once you can see that stance, it becomes easier to realize: "Shit - one of those kicks is probably gonna come out soon." The non-jumping version is punishable on block. The jumping version, once you expect it, can be hit for a nice MC float because the execution is long (this is not easy for me to do - don't get me wrong - it's just no longer luck for me to knock him out of it). Remember that Lei-Fei can not block while in stance. Take care that certain stances auto-sabaki certain moves. Good luck.

Are we saying then that the best thing to do when you see him go up on one leg is to evade? I know that nothing is going to work every time but I'm thinking an evade attack might stuff that stance because he can't block and the most dangerous attacks he might throw from that stance are linear. I'm just wondering what the "best" defensive option from there is?

I get frustrated when I eat that combo over and over. If 10th Kyu's can do it every time without fail and do that much damage then, point blank, it's just too easy to do... Maybe I'm wrong, I'm not an expert, but Lei Fei just seems like virtua evil...

If you evade the hopping kick that staggers you'll get a whopping +32, so forget evade attack. Go for a guaranteed combo when you evade it.

This stagger you should be able to struggle out of. I usually hold the guard button and spin the joystick in circles. I am pretty sure we have this in the system faq.

The one Plague talked about is another story though, but the exe time is very slow as mentioned.

Just like to point out that sometimes if you successfully evade too soon and try to attack it will track and hit you due to its long execution time, sorta like Kage's 9K+G.

Correct me if I'm wrong. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/whistle.gif

You're right Shag, this is definitely prevalent with moves that have more than 2 active frames. 9K+G is a good example, as it has 4 active frames.

That stance auto-sabakis punches and elbows. If Lei-Fei is just standing there, you can hit him with /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif, or /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif->/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif or score a float combo with KNEE. Hits to opponents in stance might have special rewards, like MC, but I'm not sure about that.

"Best thing to do" is usually based on what your opponent is doing. If a Lei-Fei player is thinking, they'll use that stance because they expect the opponent will punch or elbow. As far as evades go, they only work if the opponent is attacking. If you evade while Lei-Fei is just standing there, you will get the failed evade animation and he'll have time to attack (it's the same as a delayed attack when you expect someone to evade).

In this case, you want to make sure you understand the VF System. I didn't understand it for years and my game really suffered. I was constantly dodging while at advantage, trying to attack at disadvantage when my opponent was aware I was planning to do it. It was awful.

I played against a Wolf yesterday that kept backpeddling away from my attacks. I'd miss him by an inch like six times, and then when I finally slowed down, he'd run at me and toss me around. It was not fun.

I eventually figured out to stop swinging so much (I've noticed that most people will eat the tail end of a combo if you let the first part miss -- not this dude) and that I could stuff him with just about anything as long as I was patient. It won me the next match against him, but he also got smart to what I was doing and became more effective with the dashback > charge tactic again, winning our next two encounters.

It was kind of cool, though, truth be told. Got on my damn nerves, but it was the first time I'd played a Wolf that I didn't walk through.

I wonder what's the best thing to do against those Wolf that are continuosly dashing back and charging...I get to evade or kick/punch some but in the end it's so overwhelming that I end up losing most of those fights...

Get up in Wolf's grill. Don't let him get away. Elbow and jab him. Wolf lacks an easy quick mid, so punish him for it. Don't let him get away and and turn the game into a lame high stakes guessing game. You do not want to eat the big swing b/c you are afraid of ff p+k.

Low Punch is another way to punish his lack of a quick mid but don't get too predictable with it or he will punish you with horny wizard or uf p+k.

Also, look to use your best low punch crushing moves b/c I find that a lot of Wolfs compensate for his lack of a quick elbow by using 2p a lot.

People of higher rankings who keep reconnecting to you in Ranked Live in attempts to get their wins back...

Oh wait... I like that... ^_^

Thanks DissMaster, I started winning some fights against those Wolfs, getting in their faces is the best way to go, although an experienced Wolf player would still kick my ass...

Now what can I do against those Akira who do power move after power move and don't let me even touch them? /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

The strategy I hate the most is the "BITCH AND MOAN" strategy.
Seriously some people think they are going to get better at the
game or change the way I play by bitching and moaning.

BEAT ME OR GET THE FUCK OFF.

If you beat me I'll stop playing the way I do. Personally
I'll switch styles in the middle of a fight just to keep it
cerebral. It's awesome when you see a good exchange but even
better when you mind fuck someone into thinking toe to toe then:
Boom, back dash, DM, low punch, throw, OM, DM backdash hahaha.
Or you go on a throwing spree. Its the awesomest.

Now what's really sexy, is low punching someone to DEATH. I do this to super frustrated opponents because they have to realize my goal is to beat you, not to entertain you. With the headset it's even better. KNEECAP THAT FUCKER! What? I can't hear you over all that CRYING? Are you going to cry now? Cry BABY CRY!

If you lose to this you should just unplug your xbox and bash yourself over the head with it imo.

    OUT!

Well... that certainly is an... aggressive approach to dealing with a strategy.
