What Changes You See Happening, In VF5R?

To a certain extent the game used to be like that. I think it's a matter of personal preference, but some of the more interesting and difficult combos in the game were a lot of fun to try and land in competitive play. The game changed a lot when the combos were given diminishing returns as you land more hits in a float. It's not uncommon to find combos which do less damage when you add in an extra punch. Makes 0 sense, but that's the game now.

With the way it works now it allows for someone to take a combo from virtually any player, get up, and still be in the match. I think that the way floats work in VF5 is fine to tone down combos, however I would like to see the diminishing returns of combo hits removed.

    Gameplay:
    -Fix some hitboxes (Blaze 8+P+K, Vane 9+K+G, Lion's 46+K)
-Different ring shapes (seems to be in there, that's good news)
-Make combos that are hard to do really worth it, sometimes with Lau or Akira easy combos do the same damage than difficult ones and push even farther it's a shame imo.
    -Nerf back dash a bit
-Bring back [CD back(g) cancel]x N the way it was in VF4
-Make the time you have to stay on the ground when you don't tech roll back to VF4 duration. Staying on the ground has become too safe imo.
-Make backcrumple combos different/more damaging than side crumple ones

    Character design:

    Goh:
I always felt like his gameplay design had something wrong with it.
I mean Make it more judo oriented, from 4 to 5 goh became stronger, but his strenghs doesn't reflect Judo.
His throw game is very good but it lacks originality in design imo. Maybe giving him some kind of Brad-like hit throw grab or a stumbling throw (judo is all about balance, yet he has nothing like that).
Tsukami is a try at implementing Judo elements yet I don't find it very convincing, and to me it seems to be fairly easily escaped.
May be they should give him a multi part throw with a 50/50 or 33/33/33 choice. I never understood why they gave Lei a multithrow when goh who is suposed to be a judoka doesn't have one (tsukami doesnt count imo).
Or make some kind of struggling throw where you've got to struggle to avoid some kind of damage. Someting more unique than making everybody's 270.
Make it that when you're in his arms you shit your pants.^^

    Blaze:
The El Blaze air throw sounds like a good idea, also change his name to "Air Blaze" :p

    Lion:
    Make KK back to 13f
Give more options out of kanpo
Make 214P back to Evo status (crumple on normal hit).
Give a bit more guaranteed damage out of 3+P+G
Give him more side turned game like a P+G 2/8 type throw.

I'm also surprised to see so many people happy about Taka's return for 2 resaons:
-He wasn't very popular in VF3 era, seriously who played him ? ^^
-The fact that they didn't include him from the start makes me feel more worried than optimistic, I hope they'll manage to do something good.

Yeah. Let's throw in some tag team supers as well.

Seriously they need to tone down the floats and remove the bounces.

I don't mind the bounce combos, I'm just not a fan of the look of them. If there was a way to keep the combos but not make it look like people can general localised trampolime physics, I'd be up for that.

This may have been brought up already but....

I would really like to see the Dojo transform back to what it was in Evo. Training strings and having fun challenges that really honed your skills was really great.

    System changes:
I'm too lazy to put my disc in (to check if this is already here), but wouldn't it be neat to give us the ability to evade while back-turned? Those of us using characters that have moves putting them into that situation somewhat regularly could have a bit more defensive opportunity to go along with the risk.
Bring back the Training mode from Evo for the console version(s).
Give us a few more moves from OM, cause the mid punch and kick moves are a little stale. And while we're at it, give the moves a bit more disadvantage on guard.

    Aoi:
Give her back her /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f_.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f_.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif from VF4, it was a nice and quick floating elbow with a relatively short range.Outstanding tool that was removed in Evo for her current move on the same command, which honestly hasn't been as useful, IMO.

Let me put her in shorts, damn you!

<insane>Give her a double palm that's slightly shorter or same with the range, 2 frames more execution, lower damage, but slightly faster recovery on hit, head crumples or something on MC and hits high. Make it the same command, in fact. It'd be a nice alternative to using /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f_.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f_.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif and would be nice for close combat shenanigans.</insane>

Again, though, let me put her in shorts. Hell, even regular pants would be nice, the girl HAS to have something other than hakama to wear and she's too old to be wearing her school uniform from the VF3 testing videos.

What are you talking about? 66P+K is amazing, easily one of her best moves. It has a followup punch with decent range, so you can catch people who try and backdash. It floats on MC. It's really easy to hitcheck, and not that unsafe on block for a move with that kind of range. The list just goes on and on, you need to spend some more time learning how to use it.

As for the insane idea... 43P is already one of the best double palms in the game. And 44P+K hits high and head crumples. What exactly are you asking for, some magical move that does everything, so you don't have to choose between her different attacks?

Of course, everyone else is insane in this thread too. Give jeffry a sabaki? Isn't that what makes his character unique, no sabaki/inashi/stance properties that take his gameplay out of the pure brawler category. We want to keep unique character traits, not remove them, otherwise why bother having so many charcters?

I dunno, these people's posts sounded pretty sane:

As for jeff, yeah, giving him a sabaki would be stupid. All jeff kneeds to be top tier is to give his knee the same jumping properties as wolf's /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/uf.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif, with its frames otherwise the same /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

I too want them to return falling items it added so much to the bragging right aspect. I used to pick costumes just because you could try and smack my hat off. "dude you didn't even knock my hat off you suck" Oh how i miss saying that.

I don't really know what to ask for my character specifically because she's pretty awesome right now. <insane>bring back PP6P awesomeness<insane>

bring back the evo training mode of course and

Not uncommon? Are you sure about this? Can you share any specific examples? /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

I think the damage scaling in VF is pretty spot on, and hasn't really changed (or needed changing) that much since VF4 (too lazy to compare to VF3). You still get combos ranging anywhere in reasonable 50s to the monster 100+ point ranges.

Been using it since Evo, still don't like it. It's slower than the one in VF4c, has more disadvantage on guard (assuming you don't go for the P follow-up) and isn't half-circular. The VF4c elbow floated on hit, period.

IMO, in my opinion the elbow from VF4c was more useful. Heck, why else would they make it one of her switchable moves in Final Tuned?

I just popped into dojo to recreate what I had noticed a few days ago, but I stand corrected as I cannot reproduce the above. So, perhaps there is no situation where the extra punch does less damage - my bad, I guess I muddled up what I saw. That being said, adding an extra punch to simply yield a single point more damage, imo, is not all that fair. You remember the 3xP --> DbPm marathon in my living room after Akira's SJK? That extra punch was the cool factor, the 'it can be done' factor. It used to be worth it if you could pull it off, but the new system really takes away from the effort. The extra P should contribute more, I think.

While we're at it, give Pai nothing but shit throws and take away
her low throw. There we go lets keep these fuckers unique!

Give Lion more Campo options... move D, f+p to something like qcf+P or even d/f, d/f+P, so at least he can punish low attacks with f+P, P. Give him a better combo starter too... b, b+K is alright but leaves you BT so it's not all that great at times, and D, f+P only launches on counter. I'd love if f+K crumpled on counter or something. Maybe give it the same stomach crumple that you get with f, f+P.
