going through it last year... I didn't find it that troublesome. It's a small price to pay in regards to the actual tournament in Cali. I thought the event was frigging awesome.

I think it went fairly smooth. Any problems that arose for me came from the brackets - it may not have been the fault of WCG so much as it was the players who didn't show up.

The brackets are set to update automatically as long as people report. When people didn't report, things got fouled up. I suppose WCG could set up automatic disqualifications for failing to report in time - then they might be flooded with support tickets of a different nature.

Support ticket handling seemed hit or miss. KoD got a weird response earlier in the week. I made a mistake on Sunday and reported the wrong winner of my match. I opened a ticket and the bracket was fixed in less than 15 minutes. Maybe less than 10.

Things could have gone easier if I was allowed to see the contact info for the players that were NOT scheduled to fight me. I may have been able to move things along for my own sake.

The procedure rules either lack detail or they don't exist. I'm not even sure how to find them on the site. I did not try that hard to look for them. They are not obvious, either. I made up for this by just telling my opponents "Best three of five rounds wins a game. Win two out of three games to advance. We're playing with a 45 second clock."

I get frustrated with the WCG website as it doesn't seem that intuitive. The site requires login in two places. Finding support for a lost password is harder than it needs to be (why isn't the link next to the box where I enter my password?!). My biggest complaint is that if someone on VFDC hadn't provided the link to actually register for the VF5 Tournament, I may have never found it myself.

Edit: It takes 5 clicks before I can start entering my information if I begin from the nav bar. That's if I start at us.wcg.com. If I just start at wcg.com, I have to look in the corner and pick a region to get to the USA site. I saw no way (in 30 seconds of examination) to enter the competition from the main site.

Congrats dennis!

SMB, wcg online organization is definitely worse this year than it was last year. Is it worth it? I had a great time hanging out with friends at the national event last year.

Everything happened last week was exactly like Plague said above.
I was really confused on the first day to find out my opponent's tag(it's not showed on the schedule).

Thanks KoD!
If you joined our finals, you would make it more complicated and unpredictable!!

I totally agree with you KoD. Even this WCG online wasn't proper and I hate wasting about one hour per day, but it's worth!!!!
I'm so glad I don't need to drive back and forth 8 hours total(departure at 5:00AM) and I told LA this time I won't bother him again coz I own my free hotel service!!! WOW~~

As far as I know, we probably need to wait until all the online tournaments done.
Does anyone know where is the place for national final? Is it at LA again this year??

Well, Dennis0201 has a long wait until he has to do anything else for VF5. To my knowledge, he has qualified for the US National tournament. There is no date or location set as of now.

Yes. That could happen. Don't worry though, check with the NYC WCG guys from last year - I think their flights, hotel, and food were covered.

I reported the result right after the matches. My last email from wcg was on Sunday and it just listed the link for the finals bracket, that's it.

I'll keep posting any further information when I get from wcg.

Actually, hotel was covered along with a $250 travel stipend to offset the plane ticket cost. We were also given extra passes to the "E for All Expo" for friends and family members.

The US Final will almost certainly be in NY or LA.

I assume it would be in NY since more players are picked from east coast.

Yosuke, VF is just one game out of many that WCG sponsors.

I'm sure it will be in LA to coincide with the E For All Expo like last year.
