I doubt there are actual matches on the Friday. From what I read on the WCG US site poster, they may try the same thing they did in Canada: Give a couple people a chance to qualify from the public.

It was not really all that successful, but nonetheless they ran some quick little round robin tourneys on the Friday night in Toronto for the public. If you're working Friday, Rodney, I'm thinking you're in the clear.

I'd send an email to double check, but my guess is that your actual VF tourney will start on Saturday and finish semis and finals on Sunday.

Thanks for the info Owen. Yeah I send them an email, but consider I also sent another email way back on August 31st and that one still has not been answered I'd be surprised if this one gets answered.

Any way if I get disqualified.... honestly I wouldn't even be mad. Really I can't wait till this weekend is over.

How far is frmo 34 and penn station to the hotel by walking?

I really need to confirm the route again.

Google map shows me I need to take BUS M60 to the subway station in order to catch N, and I'm not able to find A train instead.
Does the BUS M60 run all the time? Is that too late to take a bus in NYC? Any easy suggestion from Lga to the hotel?? Thanks~

This map suggests 4 routes. Another possible route is to take a Taxi to the train station if a bus isn't available.

Dennis, when do you arrive @ LGA?

I'm trying to save as much as I can by taking a public transit. My flight will arrive at 10:30PM so I'm a little bit worrry about it.
As long as I can get the subway, I think it's okay for me. How about you RayBlade?

Here is what I posted earlier:

Dr. Dogg turned down the spot he was offered, but VFhayato has confirmed he took one of the spots. Also, someone posted that Ninjimbo decided not to go, so at this point the list is:

At this point we still do not know who the 9-10th participants will be. I'm guessing if they fail to fill the spots in advance they will try and find a way to fill them with people from the convention.

Dennis, forget about saving money. You do not want to be traveling though New York's public transportation with all your luggage that late at night. Just bite the bullet and pay for the cab. It's only a 10 mile trip from the airport anyway, so it's not like it's going to break the bank. Besides, the expenses are not going to be that bad once you get there. The hotel rooms are free, you have a free ticket to the event, and you get the travel stipend at the end of the competition.

Edit: Ok, actually, I was just reading the information packet, and here is what WCG recommends: http://www.goairlinkshuttle.com/ . With their service you can arrange to be taken directly to and from the airport/hotel. Unfortunately, I don't think they run late enough for you to take advantage of their service on the night you arrive, but maybe you can use their service to save some money on the return trip. I think I'm going to book my trip from the airport to the hotel with them, but on the return trip my schedule is too tight so I'll still have to take a taxi.

I don't live in New York, but why aren't Yohsuke and Adam going? If I had known they weren't going I might've actually taken the trip. lol

Adam is moving(has moved?) to Japan, Yohsuke is not eligible to participate I think.

Yes, I think I'll take a cab from airport to the subway station. The shuttle service is too expensive for me.

One more serious question, what time are you guys leaving on Sunday? I booked my flight on Monday morning in case I can hang out with all NYC crews without rush. Does anyone have the same schedule as mine? Please let me know or someone can let me stay at his place until Monday morning. Thanks!!
