WCG final tournament group stage published

They told us the finals will be 5 rounds

 

Please forgive my ignorance, but i saw a little greek flag somewhere, does that mean there's going to be a greek player playing VF there? is there a way of finding out who it is?

 

Hey Gutti. I'm the representative from the UK so will be staying the whole course of the tourney and I don't suppose I'll be taking my guitar! Bring yours tho def!

Does anyone know what the format is for this event? Will I be playing everyone in my group and then only progress if I win in that group?

 

The first two of each group will progress to a 8 man single elimination bracket.

In the group-fase you will play one match against each player in your group.

In the single elimination bracket it will be a best of 3.

Round count for these matches will be 5.

As far as playing casuals goes: don't count on getting any casuals in at the main event. They'll bully you out of the tournament area when you've played your games and unless we get lucky and get the microsoft standholders to put VF in one of their machines, that'll be all the VF we get to play at the Event itself.

With DOA we usually played casuals at the hotel, since the hotels had TV's. I took a look at the websites of the hostels and for the 'deutz hostel' I couldn't find anything about tv's or whatever. For the Riehl however, it said: 'Television and video recorder (on request)', so those of us in the Rhiel might get lucky.

Playing a lot of casuals might become a problem /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif

I wouldnt mind if there isnt any Shun players...

I got an e-mail from my country's organisation that I'll be arriving on the 5th and I'll be staying at the Rhiel.

Itazan won against Fuudo in the Finals. Fuudo used Kage. Alot of players didnt turn up it seems /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif

 

Is it because it was Ver. C and not R? Maybe the players don't really care to play an older version of the game even if it is for WCG.

 

Found out from Mochi yesterday that the reason why those players didnt play is because they dont have a passport ready.

people not showing up to play really hurts VF's possibility to continue in the limelight like this.

As an aside, I am not well. I was taken to hospital last sunday and they found out I have a gallstone (I think thats the word). Pains were almost unbearable at the time but now Im home and on meds. Im hoping the worst passes and I can eat something by the German trip... Operation to remove my gallbladder is months away.

I have also received players information leaflet. Im supposed to leave for Germany 4th or the 5th and everybody will come home on 10th.

 

Looks like Sweden DID organise the WCG qualifier yesterday. I will have more info later. Apparently BlixtBob (or just Bob) won.
