Do the names of characters change into Japanese one along with change of language setting to Japanese ?
Is there any さるとび　Kage in game (or at least サルトビ　 )? Yeah I still have a hope .. ;-)

 

I'm not quite sure what you mean, but the Ring Name you write when playing in English mode stays English if you switch to Japanese mode. I wrote mine when playing the Japanese version, so when switching to English my Ring Name is still written in Japanese.

As for your Sarutobi; I haven't seen any of that Ring Name in either North, South, Bay Area, Downtown and Special arcades. The only monkeys that I've seen have been Oozaru and saru death.

Perhaps you're among the other arcades. There is also no Sarutobi in the Japanese settings either.

I meant that at the SEGA site I submitted a character name using Japanese (さるとび　or サルトビ - I don't think I used kanji....) and waned to ask if there are "enemy" characters with names written in Japanese (using kana and kanji) (not in English) when you swich to Japanese version of the game ?

If their are, could you please swich to japanese and check "enemy" names list looking for "my" character ?

The thing is that さるとび　word might by protected by copyright law /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif should have been use sth other /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk.gif

Just a quick thought (that perhaps would have been better of PMed to Myke or another admin) but would it be useful to add these to people's VFDC profiles? This way, if people think they've played against someone's character on PS3, they could come to the site to confirm it. With a bit of extra coding, I presume it could also be connected to a database showing all characters known.

Just a thought (and I'm sure the guys coding away at this site having enough on their hands as it is, it's coming along nicely).

 

Oh, do you mean that, when you applied to SEGA US, you submitted your character Ring Name written in either Hiragana and Katakana instead of Romaji?

The thing is that the Japanese setting ONLY covers players who applied through VF.Net in Japan. The whole Japanese Players List is based off of players who are registered card users.

The Western setting is just a bonus to make the game perhaps more enjoyable for the foreign versions. For instance, I've stolen the character data from a Japanese Wolf 9th Dan player calling himself Roco or Loco or something.

So, if you are in the game, your only chance is appearing during the Western setting. I have looked through the WHOLE Japanese players list, and I have not seen any Sarutobi there, unfortunately.

 

I think I put one of my comments in Japanese (nakaseru yo), possibly even in characters. I don't know what my two comments are now, but it seems that the character itself went through (I was worried that this would prevent it being included.)

It seems that a high percentage of players who submitted were included, perhaps the available places weren't all filled?

That one arcade he's at (sega south, or north??), seems it doesnt matter which cabinet, he pops out after a cple of fights and just keeps on challenging back.

Anyway, the data for this character is coming from a Japanese player calling himself Roco or Loco, and I'm going to try and contact him through Mixi (Japanese community site) telling him I'm the one representing him in the West, hehe.

What's funny is that he has the exact same outfit as my registered card. Fit me perfectly, hehe, even though he's pissing me and everyone else off, lol.

And yes, I'm Norwegian, so that's why I included Norway in the comment /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Your roommate's Finnish? Cool! Tell him that THR (Lau) and Manjimaru (Akira) are both in the game too! They are among the top three Finnish players
