    Thanks, French.

Yeah, my opponent isn't fresh out of VF school; he knows that the follow-ups from the beatknuckle are high, and I don't really want to be using pseudo broken moves that just exploit lack of knowledge; I want to actually be strong so that I can compete well against other strong players.

As for the low backfist retort to blocking Lau's elbow, it's a good idea, but Lau has a very annoying move where he does a jumping punch that crushes low moves, which my opponent mixes in with the canned follow-up. I have noticed though, that Lau's jumping punch seems to whiff when I do my low backfist, even when we're close together, as though I'm 'too low' for the punch to hit; anyone have any info on this?

Thanks again people; advice is always appreciated.

/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/uf.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif is weird like that. It is an awesome move that spanks crouchers and low punchers, but it will often miss against low sweeps and kicks and weird low punches like Jacky's lame spin fister.

When blocked Lau is not at a large disadvantage so his low punch will beat a lot of stuff. It is also a little hard to dodge the move as it seems to cause a lot of failed evades.

A good way of deaing with this is move is to predict when your buddy does it and throw a standing punch. It will float him and you can do a little combo. And if he does another move, well, punch or elbow are pretty good in a lot of situations, so just go from there.

Yeah, I've been doing that a lot, Diss. It becomes a ridiculous guessing game where I predict the jump attack and do a high punch, and my opponent predicts this and does a low punch, so I predict that and do an elbow, so he predicts that and evades, so I predict that and do a circular move etc etc etc.

It's funny, but it becomes a bit annoying.

Just a couple of other things; first, it might be better to use /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif as a guaranteed punisher at +13 instead of /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif just because it does more damage and puts you in a better position to pressure your opponent IMO.

Also, even though the Lau command list doesn't have the frame data for /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/uf.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif, I'm positive the move has a decently high number of total frames. You may remember raoul's post regarding evades. It's hard to know what's guaranteed after you evade /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/uf.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif if anything, but experiment... if you evade early enough, you might be able to punish with some decent stuff.

Even though the link doesn't really help in this case, if you keep this in mind when evading in general it should help to improve your game a bit.
