in PS3's VF5 official japanese site, it is written that the HGVS is as the same as the arcade stick for VF5. they said they used the same materials and equipments for the arcade stick in HGVS. so..... /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk.gif

Yea...but they said the same thing for the Sega Saturn stick didn't they? Hori makes that claim many times and it's simply not true -- I can tell the difference between the HRAP and a good Versus City stick.

The ONLY console stick I have ever used that perfectly emulates the arcade is Catch-22's custom made stick. Catch, if you're reading this, how about a PS3 converter?

I would say all sticks feel different to me, even if they are slight. I have around 5-6 Sanwa VF kit sticks and even they all feel a little different. I also have a non VF Kit Sanwa (forgot model #) and it feels very different from the rest. But I will say I used KRSJin's HRAP stick for the first time and it did feel exactly like my Sanwa VF Kit sticks. So HRAP would be a sure bet to me. But then again this was HRAP and not HRAP2 or HRAP3 so they could have changed the feel a little for it. Well I still don't know about the VF High Grade so I just decided to order one of each and compare the two.

What type of stick is in a USA VF 1-4 cabinet? I think its a bat type stick but who makes it? Happ? I liked the bat type stick but I also never used the knob type. Anybody actually know the version of bat stick? It looks like most of the bat sticks from Happ I am seeing are a little fatter then the ones I see on the actual arcade units. I wonder if you can swap out the ball on those VFHG sticks with a bat.

I hope the VFHG is really close to the arcade version because it looks like thats the only thing I will be able to get. Most of the threads I have read about guys making sticks, they don't make them anymore.

I'm pretty sure all HRAP's come with Sanwa JLF's and snap in buttons. Don't get the Hori Fighting Sticks though, they are horrible.

As for the VFHG stick, the arcade stick looks like a Seimitsu cause it has a colored shaft unlike most Sanwa's. I could be wrong but that's just my experience around these parts. Seimitsu's are alright, but I think Sanwa is a more precise product.

Also EVM, almost all US made fighting game cabinets are equiped with Happ sticks and buttons. Depends alot. If it didn't click it might have been a p360, but chances are it's either an Ultimate or Competition. If it sucked, it was probably an Happ Super.

Hey guys, Virtua Stick High Grade is CONFIRMED to use real Sanwa lever and buttons. Those of you who are worried about it can be rest assured that you will get a high quality stick like the name suggests.

Do the arcade VF units use square or circular gates?

which version of virtua fighter are you using the elecom adapter with? i only ask because i read that ps2 games on ps3 don't work due to lack of ps button. i just ordered a pair because i was sick of playing t5dr with a sixaxis and your post has me worried now.

i also just preordered an hrap3 at http://www.vgonetwork.com though since they go for $106 shipped in the united states. seems to be the cheapest but the buttons are probably not sanwa and just the stock hori buttons used in past hrap configurations. i would prefer the vshg though if it really did have sanwa parts.

Circular on a 3D fighter could be suicide. I guess it really is all preference but I doubt most would prefer P360 over Square or Octogonal restrictors.

001: The Tekken players tend to have good experiences with Tekken:DR and Elecom converters. So I think it's still a good bet if you are not importing sticks or if you simply can't wait.

Like I said, I don't have a wired controller to compare it with, but at least for VF gameplay, I'm experiencing a very small amount of lag that's enough to affect my input at some key moments.

Re: Virtua Stick High Grade vs Real Arcade Pro Sti

thanks for the reply srider. i misinterpreted your post to think you were using a ps2 based wired stick with the elecom for playing virtua fighter like i plan on doing if my hrap3 doesn't arrive on time or for when friends come over to play and want to use stick against me.

hopefully the elecoms will work with my hrap2's with no problem. i already own too many sticks and various converters for various systems. if the wii comes out with a competitive joystick based fighter and i need a another new joystick for that then someone will have to shoot me. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/mad.gif

I am using a ps2 based wired stick, specifically, the HRAP1, with the elecom converter.

I'll compare it some more when I get the Virtua Stick High Grade, for those who don't want to shell out the money for a new stick.

Re: Virtua Stick High Grade vs Real Arcade Pro Sti

ah, i switched out the pcb's to dualshock psone on my hrap's so maybe using official sony pcb's may help cut down any lag hopefully when using an elecom. i guess the true test for me will only happen feb 20th.

but i look forward to seeing any results you have since you would probably know better than me since you have more experience with the game.

I don't know anything about home made sticks but I have read several topics on the web talking about lag with home made sticks. If sega and hori can make sticks for the PS3 without lag what are they using on the inside? Can it be obtained somewhere on the web?

I ask because I was really amazed at some of the sticks some of the guys on this site "Catch22" and another guy from the web called "Byrdo" made and I really want to make one for myself one day.

I love the bat arcade sticks on the US VF machines with those clicky buttons. For the mean time I will probably have to settle for a VFHG because I don't have the time with work and there really is not any information on how to make a stick for the PS3. I hope Srider comes back with an awesome review of the VFHG.

BTW guys, one alternative place to get the HRAP3 is http://www.vgonetworks.com. The cost, including shipping by UPS if you're in California, is $106. That's considerably cheaper than Play-Asia, where it would cost you ~$140. Let Harry Chang (hchang@vgonetwork.com) know that I sent ya.
