YEARS since I was here! Shout out to all the old VF heads, hope you're well. Exciting news from Sega, let's hope it's FS on PC. I think it's fair to say it's definitely not VF6 and I would bet it's just an esports tournament. Still cool though.

For the record i think it's either FS on 'Fog Computing' or Sega will host a few VF tournaments again.

I think it can be translated by SEGA is going to "restart" VF, but is it a new series (VF6) or just reboot? As a VF fan, at least we can see some progress from SEGA. :)

Everytime when it's for an anniversary at SEGA, there is a main game being the big project of the moment.

So maybe it's finally VF turn, they listened the fans, and it is the big budget game of the 60th anniversary.

They know for years that a lot of people want VF, and i think they will give VF the respect it deserves, as a top 5 best SEGA franchise of all time and maybe the best 3D fighting game ever made.

But like Akira say, "Come back in 10 years !" with VF5FS from 2010 and we are 2020.

So btw all the "20 20" and "road to 2020" might be true for VF now, and we was right...

STORY MODE Quests mode and VF 4 ttorial + Trial needed for Next VF.
Look at how gorgeous are VF characters here! And more appealing than any other 3D fighter with the old Same VF5 Engine.

Sega is the best at trolling everyones wishes of VF,
But i am carefully hoping for VF5 for PC or a new VF for PC.
      Pls!

      My guess:

      1. "Reboot starting from Japan" - That means it is not VF6 (at least not within this year), because if it is a complete new game there is no point to release it just in Japan. All games do global launch these days. Also, this hints that what Sega has in mind is something only could be done in Japan. i.e. either it is related to the arcade scene, or a domestic tournament thing.

      2. In the trailer, they used the word "Showdown" to describe the Japanese word "Stage". That's a big hint that it should be some sorts of VF5FS reboot.

      3. esport. - We all know how esport works. To create the esport environment for VF, Sega must first make the game easily accessible to everyone in the world (no, esport in Japan is still very niche and couldn't sustain without global support).

      So my conclusion is:
It will be a VF5FS re-release in latest consoles (PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series), PC and arcade, with a few balance changes and cross-platfrom play. For console and PC version, it will be free-to-play, with lootboxes and cosmetic items. It will be focus on rank mode/ladder and including some sorts of spectator mode. Sega will sponsor some famous players from the start so they could stream on twitch/youtube to show people this game's potential.

It's amazing that how VF4 already had all the characteristics of a free-to-play game. Sega really is always 10+ years ahead of its time.

Sega has already somewhat ported parts of VF5FS to the Yakuza and Judgment games on current gen. Only a partial arcade mode:

      • No ability to change number of rounds or difficulty
      • No Dojo
      • No Tutorial
      • No Customizations
      • No Sparring Mode
      • No License Mode.
      • No Score Mode

But the arcade is there. If by restart Sega means to bring Final Showdown in its totality to Current Gen and Next Gen consoles as the basis for a restart and then add new versions of VF as time goes on, that might not be a bad idea.

If for the first installment of the restart or reboot we get a full VF5FS on all platforms, and then in the second or third year of the next gen we get VF 6 that would make a lot of sense.

If Sega is really trying to do the e-sports thing, it would be better to start off with a rock solid battle tested balanced version of the game (VF5FS) rather than some new game that would have to be tuned and balanced over several iterations before its really ready for e-sports.

I know others publishers (I won't mention Bamco's name) have made their games simpler by dropping moves and characters. But I think Sega could show them that's not the way to go. Keeping the depth, nuance, finesse, and diversity of VF will keep competitors training and competing in VF for years and years to come. If Sega dumb VF down in a Monkey-See-Monkey-Do maneuver then whole thing will fizzle in 18 to 24 months and VF could become a laughing stock for trying to be something it can never really be. Real players and competitors can learn the entire command list of their characters and the matchups for all the characters in the game without the game being watered down. Learning all of the commands and all of the matchups is what separates the champions from the pretenders.

They watered down Tekken for the Tekken players. They watered down Soul Calibur for the Soul Calibur players. They watered down DOA for the DOA players. But we play Virtua Fighter and we're not scared of a deep movelist or a diverse roster. The more complex Sega makes Virtua Fighter, the better we get , and the harder we train. The deeper the game, the more value A Virtua Fighter trophy is worth. The more respect a Virtua Fighter champion deserves and will get.

So I think Sega/AM2 should show all those other Pussies how real fighters roll:X3:

      • No watered down command lists
      • No comeback, rage, super move mechanics
      • No cookie cutter generic move sets
      • No reduced rosters

Just uncensored , naked, pure , Virtua Fighter. If players want a weak, watered down, generic 3d fighter, let them go after the Tekken or DOA world tour trophies.

Virtua Fighter started out as the real deal. We've always been the real deal, and we want to stay the real deal;)

The generation of vf sellout is almost over. Let’s pray they go back to their original strong keyhones of vf4evo/ft and build a unforgettable system. The age of vf hold my hand is over. Are you ready to think again before you act? Too funny..
