Virtua Fighter vs Dead or Alive discussion thread

I'd love to see the AM2 guys at sega to develop this game's fighting system with team ninja making the story, graphics. But keep the cheesy VF sound effects. It just wouldn't feel right not to have that cheezy sweep sound.

Basically have AM2 build the system and then let team ninja dress the shit up. . . also make eileen 20, she can be a college schoolgirl!

 

I don't mind VF's sound effects, but I do believe that's something that would have to change if both SEGA and Team Ninja would want to draw in more attention.

You gotta think, this isn't something like SF vs MK, which would garner a massive amount of attention on the name alone. Every aspect of VF vs DOA would have to be taken in a huge amount of consideration, from the music to the sound effects of blocked hits, counter hits, and even whiffed circular moves.

Every aspect of this said game has to be at least 120% awesome, not by just the fans point of view, but by those who are casuals, skeptics, and even haters of both series. If the game were to become a reality, it would most definitely have to have the same level of flair that it does depth, and yet somehow allow people to understand how the game works (or know what's going on in a match) without taking a college course just to learn it.

I mean imagine if this was that one game that made people like Bala, Yipes, FPChamp (maybe), and Aris actually pick up the game seriously like they did the respective games they play now... Imagine if this was that one game that gets as much stream time on twitch.tv as Path of Exile does. Imagine that person you meet that always says "I like VF", but never plays it even when given a chance to play it actually says "I like VFvsDOA" and actually plays it, and challenges you to some matches (maybe even a money match FT5 $5 or something). It's gotta be a game that makes that substantial change in the way people think about VF, DOA, and 3D fighters overall...

 

Well I'm not against it per se but actually quite ambivalent. I downloaded DOA5 at the weekend and was really looking forward to giving it a go. I really wanted to love it. But every occasion I tried to sit down and play it I just ended up throwing in the towel and going back to VF:FS.

There is nothing I would like to see transferred from DOA to VF gameplay-wise. Only some of the DOA cast are worth anything anymore so there is potentially some enjoyment to be had including these in VF. They could select from the following list: Kasumi, Lei-Fang, Jan Lee, Gen Fu, Bayman, Tina, Ayane. Most of the other characters are junk.

Needless to say the softcore porn focus of DOA would need to be excluded. It used to be funny and quirky but it's just embarrassing now. It really was creeping me out and during a few scenes in the "story" mode I was really happy no one would walk in on me playing it.

TAG SYSTEM!! Hell YEAH!!

I think a VF vs DOA will allow the developers an excuse to put in more experimental stuff. I don't want a crossover game to be just VF with DOA characters.

My list of wants

- Hyper Action Battle

- Uneven terrain like in VF3. Just for the fun of it. Balance issues? Akira Stage for tourneys. It'll be like Final Destination in Smash Brothers.

- DOA environments, stage finishers

- TAG SYSTEM!!

- Absolute NO to random stage hazards.

 

Hell no CHANGE THE SOUND EFFECTS. THEY SUCK AND THEY ARE SERIOUSLY OUT DATED! Get new VF voice actors while AM2 is at it. All the characters need to sound like there age and not 10 year old kids.

 

Lion says "You better take me seriously". He has aged, yet still sounds like a kid. Give the guy some damn balls. Oh, and while we're at it, if he's a Frenchman, he needs to be speaking French. Same with all the other characters who are not from an English speaking nation and the voice actor is speaking English. Native tongues for all characters please.

What about if they gave us the new effects then there was an option to select the old ones after you beat the game or something. Kinda like how you can change the voices in SFIV to english or Jp

 

The voices are dope. An option would be ideal. The people that hate it, miss the point entirely.

On movement: Speed up the walk speeds to and 8 way run speeds to DOA levels, but keep the dash system of the VF5 series.

Chief Flash sounds like a VF character.

 

Well Sudden Death, we are working on something behind the scenes. Hopefully in the end this isn't just a wishlist.

 

This and also do some research on exactly what a French person would say before and after winning a fight. One of the things I've hated about any fighting game is that the things characters say are just fucking stupid and usually have nothing to do with what they are about.

In my opinion the best win quote I ever seen in a fighter was Leon's from DOA4 where he said something like " come back in a few years after you have wiped your ass. " It's not the exact quote, but it was bad ass.

 

French people don't win fights. Up your world knowledge.

 

Speaking of French people, it would be nice to see someone French use Savate... Just sayin'...

 

Would be cool to see new styles.

 

I remember that mode, lol. I actually had pretty fun with that mode.

 

Im glad they brought that and Low Gravity back in Final Showdown. Hopefully it'll be 2 player option in VF6.
