I feel strongly that we will hear about a new VF soon, but everytime there is a new fighting game announced I lose hope, Sega has literally no reason to showcase a fighting game when there are so many other exciting titles around.

Look how Capcom somehow finds a way to fly back when they were crashing.

But AM2 can still do it, or maybe the Yakuza studio cause Nagoshi has already worked on VF2.

Actually that does sound better than my idea for guests, I'm sure someone else mentioned other Sega characters costumes too like Joe Musashi, Shiva, maybe even costumes from Eternal Champions?

Not sure I'd be happy with that and it's not like AM2 have made a bad VF game. They've done a good job up to now so I'd hope they continue to do it.
