Call me an elitist but they lost me when I started fighting against a fucking kangaroo.

Anyhow, I have no idea what you guys are saying about the lack of an arcade version affecting the quality of the game. You know what does impact the game? How much dev time they give it. And what impacts that? How much money they expect to make in return for the investment.

Arcades even in Tokyo are more or less dead, I have watched their numbers shrink significantly over the last decade and at this stage they have to put in either enormously complicated setups (see Gunslinger Stratos, every music game ever) or have ancillary services (many machines now have USB ports to let you charge your phone, etc).

The situation gets even worse when you go in the countryside.

They should go the Capcom route and make it a console game that also has a complimentary arcade version. Even better if it were at all possible to somehow integrate with the arcade version so that you could use your card/characters/items from the home version in the arcade.

The only concern I would have about them not developing the game from an arcade perspective is technical. VF has always been a series where even a one frame difference matters. You can't expect that level of precision from an internet connection, and I would hate for them to somehow dumb down the game or slow it down even more than they did in 5 to somehow accommodate consoles.

The console generation of PS4 and XOne are very different from the previous one, the PS3/X360 generation. Both consoles are focused on online services, internet connection is getting better and better. If SEGA announce VF6, I have the feeling that we won't have to wait for a port, as much as we did for FS. This time, SEGA knows that there are players in the West that will support them and buy the new VF. We send them a 500-page letter, we bought FS (many of us for both systems), the two SEGA Cups were successful etc.

I don't mind waiting for VF6, as long as I know that a home conversion is guarantied.

P.S. Soulcalibur has the best story in the fg genre. Without Spawn, Link, Heihachi, Darth Vader, Yoda, and all the anime characters in SCIV, it would be perfect ;)

Correction: Soul Calibur HAD the best story until they decided to kill off all the characters and replace them with annoying tweens, or simply just delete certain characters outright (Where the fuck is Seong Mi-Na!!!)

I like Patroklos and Pyrrha. Also, Xiba is my favorite version of Kilik. What I didn't like was the fact that not all SC characters aged at all. Miturugi and Siegfried did grow old, but not Maxi, not Kilik, not Hilde, not Voldo. It's like Tekken 3...

I guess it's a matter of opinion/taste. Patro's personality was terrible. And the story mode that followed him and his sister was atrocious. The only interesting thing about Pyrrha was her fighting style (modified Cassandra). Which confuses me, why wasn't Cassandra in the game? If SC5 took place 17 years after 4, wouldn't Cassandra be in her early 30s? She could still fight.

Xiba was the worst character swap in the entire game. Hooray, let's replace the series' most iconic character with yet another Monkey King clone. Good job Namco. That'd be like Capcom replacing stoic Ryu with a younger more obnoxious version of himself.

Namco screwed up SC5 terribly. And I haven't even begun to talk about the fight system. The only thing that saved that game for me was that I love Tira and Hilde, and it was interesting to find how many ways I could make Pyrrha scream...

Anyway this thread is about Virtua Fighter right? Umm...yea...VF6...WOOOOO!!!!

Yet SC5 is superpopular in Japan and is generally considered best part of the series - gameplay- and ballance wise.

I don't live in Japan, so don't really care.

And best in the series? No, that distinction belongs to SC2. But, now we're just getting into opinions...

Roger was a genetically modified kangaroo developed by Mishima Corp who escaped captivity when Kazuya tried to kill him and ended up learning to wrestle from a half-man, half-cat character wearing metal amour. Makes perfect sense to me.

But seriously, the main story about the Mishimas was pretty tight. I remember having Mishima all outs with my mates where we would each pick a Mishima to fight with and head to the Hon Maru stage to battle. It's nice when fighting games have a decent story.

I could appreciate a background-story framework of sorts for sure,
but only if it did not compete with time or resources for the actual fighting game content.

I also think more visual fluff and possibilities for the customization of your character,
bringing back personal quotes, orb or random junk collecting or special silly awards
for doing or achieving stuff would be a better way to add things to strive for
    - moreso then cutscenes or storyboards.

How about Item-points awarded by reaching specific ranks, and special extra titles when doing something particular to a higher percentage over the fights
(Like, "Sleazy Weasel - Player evades more often then average" And similar concepts?

Though throwing ideas like this won't make them happen in a VF6 when/if that happens
    - I just hope they check with the community to make the balance and online-lobbies as well as we want, while trying to correct any of the more common shortcomings people report.'''''

Nah, just give super-hyper-ultra visuals and I'm fine with it. Ok, I admit it, I'm a graphics/visual wh#re and I want VF6 to be more than eye-candy. Rock my eyes, SEGA! VF6 has to be mind blowing!!!

All I always felt been lacking in VF series was a good STORY MODE. I kno I know I'm not original at all. This could be a nice opportunity to know characters better, integrate with them. VF does have not so stupid story, in some cases probably better than in other fighting games. Some character-specific stories have potential.

From a technical site, VF4evo is a kind of groundbreaking to me, modes such as Quest, Challanges was something that gave a new life to that game. Having played VF2 (skipped VF3 due lack of dreamcast) and then playing VF4evo was a one great "WOW"!

I also would like to see more interactive stages, such as in VF3, irregular but not with some differences in terrain, that caused too much bugs. Also character movement shouldn't be so "strict" - give sidestep some flow, better functionality, kind of as in SC but without ruining such good mechanics (is it even possible?)

Personally, I'd like to the see dodge windows depend on your character. I think it is absolutely stupid to have someone like Taka be able to side-step as fast as a freakin' ninja

More statistics coverage (Amount of throws broken, which throws you use, how many punishes you miss, favorite flow charts etc.)

better replay options (rewind, frame by frame, be able to jump in from a specific point, better records management and upload, etc.)

I think a story mode that chronicles what has happened from the original VF to the present ala MK might be a good way to see how everything blends together but c'est la vie.

Tournament settings for versus where you can disable pause (or you must hold down pause button for like 4 seconds), disable trophies or achievements from popping up and distracting people, etc.

Overall better animations and graphics...the game is like 5 years old which is ancient. This should just come with the next-gen (now current-gen?)

Way more customization options, (including win quotes, win poses, intros, intro quotes, more items)

Severe punishments for being a DC'er, mainly inability to earn points off people who have a better smiley than you. That or just DC hell where they only play each other.

Rivalry-esqe intros (Akira vs. Goh, Jean vs. Goh, Akira vs. Jacky, Jacky vs. Sarah, Sarah vs. Kage, Lion vs Shun, Shun vs. Lau, Lau vs. Pai, Brad vs. Aoi, Aoi vs. Akira, Shun vs. Everclear) etc. That would do wonders in terms of giving VF more character in life (take a hint from UMvC3)

You pretty sum up what I would like for the next VF ^^ (except for the different DM windows, I wouldn't know how to balance this.)

I think that may be because they made the game more approachable to 2D players (especially after the patch that killed off a lot of the 3D techniques)

I mean, they added meter, removed a lot of the 3D techniques, made the game (a decent chunk of the personalities) combo oriented (something 2D players LOVE), and released all the frame data (The strategy guide is really REALLY good) at the outset so people weren't spending years figuring out how to do things, but hours. These are things 2D players love!

I think SCV success has more to do with those things. I'd contest a little on the balance but it is certainly far better than SCIV (but I don't think many things can hold a candle to SCII)
