Why is there a screenwriter though? That's a little bit suspicious. Illustrator and screenwriter aren't really the people I would call for a new VF game. I hope they are not talking about some movie...

Did a little research and I found out that Dai Sato, the writer, is credited for Halo Legends and Tekken Blood Vengeance, among others. Maybe Terada and Sato are fans of the series. Maybe they want to talk about a new VF anime. I don't know. All I want to hear from Shinjuku Jacky, is the announcement of VF6!

Well I haven't watched Tekken: Blood Vengeance but my mate told me it was f**king terrible, like even worse than the live action Tekken movie. If this guy is involved then that's not exactly good news.

That's a terrific idea! And why not a VF HD Collection on PS3/X360/PC/PSVita? VF should be available on every single platform.

I haven't watched Tekken BV, but honestly Tekken is not a great source material for good stories :p It's like a japanese Mortal Kombat, story wise.

This. 1000x this. Even though I know it won't happen-I say skip the arcades and go straight for a fully developed console game with a simultaneous worldwide release...If it's too risky, go the f2p route like Tekken Revolution, DOA5U: Core Fighters, Killer Instinct, etc..

Either way, it's better than it sitting in arcades that most of us will never see for as long as they want to milk it. Do like DOA and release an arcade version later on...

That'd be a good way to guarantee we get an inferior product, and to contribute to the decline of arcades.

I see where you're coming from...I guess I'm just a little bitter over the whole waiting game we had to play before we got FS...I don't think any of us wanna have to go through that type of stuff again.

Even so, I would like Sega to take a more console-oriented approach with things this time...With whatever this will be, VF6, DOA x VF, or whatever...

For far too long they have been specifically catering to the Japanese arcade scene, neglecting the international fan-base where arcades aren't as widespread...I mean, look at all the bells and whistles that are a part of the arcade version of this game.

Yes, they did eventually bring us FS. Yes, they did do great things like Sega Cup and whatnot-but I'd like to see the same type of focus placed on the International community as it is in Japan... Rather than an afterthought. That is all.

My journey into the world of DOA has shown me how awesome Tecmo Koei is for interacting with the western side of the equation as much as they do...Actually taking suggestions for the game and communicating about things with them. Hell, if I'm not mistaken, the inclusion of Momiji and Rachel is due in part to the requests of fans on their Twitter page?(Don't quote me on that)

All in all, don't leave us in the dark Sega...Just be more open and communicative with the west too.

Then again, this could simply be business-related, and they're just focusing their efforts where the money talks...If that is the case, then I suppose that negates my demands, given VF's popularity in the west. :(

VF is a pure arcade game..... Don't think it's a good idea to make it a console product.

VF can be successul as a pure console product. Every port of VF (VF4, EVO, VF5, FS) is top quality products and with the powah of the internet, a console-only VF can be a reality. Instead of going to the arcades for location test, in order to improve the balance of the game and get the necessary feedback from the players, the same thing can be done now via beta testing, so everyone - even people outside of Japan - can have a word to say about the new VF.

Arcade scene is declining. VF has to find a way to survive outside of the aracdes. AM2 has the talent and the means to do it.

Even if Sega wants to start VF6 in the arcades for whatever reasons (money, balance testing, etc...), atleast they could let the Western world know when we might be able to get the game.

It's just so damn frustrating to see them put a game out in the japanese arcades, the rest of the world yelling and screaming for a console release so they can play, Sega ignoring them, Sega putting out an updated version the arcades, the world yelling and screaming again, then Sega throwing us a barebones game after it has been out for 6 years...

I ain't going through that bs again...

I don't think that a console port is the key of such a product/project...

Do all the devs have a huge knowledge in english? Do SEGA have the time, the financial reasons (I mean cost VS income) and the ambitions to make a new "worldewide loc test" ? While the current method is bullet proof? And way cheaper...

And last thing: Do we know that the game is scheduled yet? No. But you already want it the quick way... (have I missed something?)

But my point of view; in an all very subjective way is: vf is a good product because it is made for competitve arcade gaming action. No less. I don't care about what a "console game" has to offer when we are talking about Fhighting Games... Who cares about a fancy story mode when you have already done it thousands of time??

I don't say that you're wrong or SEGA should'nt do that. I totally agree with your post Shinobi. I clearly understand your requests. Maybe I'm wrong but I don't see it coming this way.

Arcades are dying , slowly, in Japan, and are dead in the US.

For the series to survive it has to adapt to modern times.

Tekken had probably the best fighting game story up until part 4. Parts 1 - 3 were pretty solid. But when they started saying Heihachi "drank a potion" to regain his youth you knew it was over.

Isn't that from the non-canon Tag 2 (and also a way to write over the fact Heihachi's seiyuu died)?

You're lucky if you only had to wait for FS. The same thing happened with 3 and the 4 series.

4FT and 5R never even got a console release.

I think the whole concept of a story for a fighting game is a little silly no? I mean, any conflict in the real world would involve a lot more than kicks and punches.

VF on a planet with no natural resources where everyone is fighting for survival and can't fashion weapons...Space VF is literally where you would have to go before the environment starts making sense.

In addition, the console will become the dominate form of getting FGs out, whether it is now or later, doesn't matter. Might as well hop on the train and get things going.

To be honest, I like the hokey stories in fighting games. They're bad, I expect them to be bad, but it's charming. It's kind of like Jacky and Lion's voice. It's horrible, it hurts, but if they ever changed it I'd burn down Sega's headquarters...
