no one should go. the roster number is fine as is compared to other fighters. Everyone is too different just be "let go". remember that shitty feeling when taka wasn't in one of the VF's? cuz i did =/

His name is Yayan Ruhian (bka "Mad Dog" in The Raid: Redemption), and yeah he's Indonesian.

Don't forget about Joe Taslim, who's also Indonesian along with main guy of the film, Iko Uwais.

Anyway, I can't wait for Berandal (The Raid 2) which comes out next year.

They are not going to nor should they get rid of any of the original cast. I only said that some chars could go because their schtick is so wacky and contrary to the old VF design gameplay-wise.

If they are going to add someone, maybe a Thai replacement for Brad with less shoo shoo and stronger core Muay Thai moves.

Even if they keep everyone, I would like to see: the throw system restored, Combo damage reduced, strings nerfed both in number and usefulness, and easier nitaku - that is, less situations where fuzzy or ECD will get you out of so much.

If they wanted to keep LTE, they could just make it so every char's best throw ended in 6. That way you could still LTE some but it wouldnt be as annoying and silly.

I don't think adding two new characters will make the game unplayable so I highly doubt anybody is getting cut. Also folks talking about cutting Eileen because she's "similar" to blaze are out of their damn mind. AM2 did a good job making the characters very different while having universal mechanics they all share. Eileen and Blaze are both strong in the up close game, but why they are strong in those situations are very different. They have very different toolsets that both work out to be strong up close.

To say they are the same char hence one can replace the other just reeks of unfamiliarity of what makes each of those chars tick.

I somewhat agree but to someone who is unfamiliar to both in terms of how they play, the seem reamarkably unremarkable from each other. and I vote from that standpoint that eileen stays because we already got a wrestler.

Hmmm... I really don't see that Pai and Lau are all that similar moves-wise to be honest. They share one or two moves but execute them differently. They are actually completely different. I'm not sure how you could think they are they same if you have gone through their respective moveslists. Though I do agree that they could give Lau more stuff.

Wait... El Blaze and Eileen are the same? WTF?? Also Heihachi was part Paul. Really??? What Paul moves did he have? Tekken actually fixed everything with Tekken 5. They brought back all the clones but made them all unique characters which was pretty great.

If a cut happens, I'd see Lau getting cut and Lei-Fei getting his moves for another stance, since that would be related to the story. If Shun Di were to get cut, Lion would have a drunken stance for the same reasons.

If anyone got cut, I would want them to be replaced with a 100% identical character (Move-set wise) so that fans could still play the style they'd been using for the previous games. Obviously I wouldn't want anyone to be cut at all, but if they felt they couldn't make another two new characters and balance the game as well, then they could just change the aesthetics of two characters and call them 'New' even though they play identical to the guy they replaced.

I HATE it when fighting games do this. Why cancel a known and loved character if you are going to keep their exact moveslist? Only to inevitably bring them back at some point so that they co-exist awkwardly with each other a la Eddie and Christie.

Exactly. I don't want the same characters with different skin. I like the fact that SEGA, in every new installment, are introducing new fighters and every one of them have their unique move list and fighting style. Clones and re-skinned characters is the easy way to to do the job. I prefer SEGA's approach to this matter. I'm sure that all the FS cast will be present in VF6.

Actually for people who are not familiar with VF Aoi and Pai looks COMPLETELY similar. Both have reversals, both have PPP2K string, both have mid throws... and multiple similar-looking attacks (and not familiar/aware people will NOT recognize the fact that no matter the animation is somewhat similar, the effect is very different)
    I experienced this multiple times

Anyway... Theres only one wrestler here!!!

    A few points here:

    1) Pai and Lau play very differently. If Pai actually played like Lau, I would play her more than I do. The resemblance is only superficial. They were very different in VF3 and probably have only become moreso.

    2) I think that they need to take throws back to 8 frames. This would accomplish a lot of what I was talking about earlier re: making fuzzy and ECD less annoying and essential. Add in the real VF throw system (not the bastardized current one) and the game gets better. The throws could be standardized where every char has forward as their most damaging direction. Then you could keep LTE and MTE and you could somewhat weaken the 50/50 game by at least being able to simultaneously guard and take away the most damaging throw.

    3) A corollary to this would be reducing some of the damage from combos. There are too many half life combos in the game. It is pretty stupid that Eileen or Pai can do as much damage as Jeff.

    4) Manage the strings better. The game is totally different when one knows who one is fighting. The sheer number and variety of the strings makes this impossible for anyone but the most dedicated weirdo. This Confucian aspect of FS just sucks. It would be better if the strings were mostly two-three hits and were more uniformly punishable if the final hit is blocked. Heavy guard stun on the last blocked hit would be nice for online play, but that is a separate issue.

I think that making these changes would bring yomi back to its rightful central place in the game design while weakening some of the annoying aspects of the game in its current form. Currently the game rewards safety and punishing your opponent for not being sufficiently safe. This is all academic of course. Sega is gonna do what they're gonna do.

    1. i agree
2.that would be pretty harsh for grapplers since thier most powerful throws would essentially be useless =(
    3. i also agree to this; Jacky can do combos over 100 damage w/out walls. Ridiculous.

    4. strings feel pretty fine right now. maybe i all strings can be punish with pk than it would be acceptable. if u think there are to many in this game, play tekken.

Re: #2 - That isn't really true. In FS Wolf's stupid Burning Hammer throw is not useless even though everyone escapes forward. It is so powerful that you know people are less likely to escape 4 and Wolf's 4 throws are very good. The big grapplers should have good throws in multiple directions: 4,6, and 3 with maybe 2 as well. The reason I say that it would be good to be able to still have LTE is so that you can standing guard while still escaping at least the worst throw. This could slightly mitigate the annoying keep away---> dash in and throw.

I think Wolf doesn't need more throw directions, considering he has 3 catch throws that are all unable to be teched. You can still mix up a lot with his throw game only have the 3 TEs.

As for my suggestion earlier about replacing characters with Identi-kit ones, it's not something I WANT to happen, but rather I'm suggesting it's better than removing a character and not bringing them back at all, or giving their move list to someone else IMO. I'm only thinking if it comes down to AM2 in a position where the roster is too big to properly balance or flesh out all their characters it's a good 'Cheat' option to have 'NEW CHARACTERS' on the box, while still being able to build on their foundations.

im hoping or a new char that has a new style 2. we have not really seen a backturned focus char or a char that has a huge strength in ring outs. there could be alot of ideas floating around

Taking throws back to 8 frames wouldn't deter more moves from being fuzzy able. That depends on how the rest of the game is designed. That was the complaint people had at first with Nitaku starting at -6(FS) instead of -5, in like VF4. People tried to lodge complaints that Akira's blocked Elbow, you " wouldn't be able to Fuzzy if this was VF4" ignoring that you could still Fuzzy in VF4 after Akira's elbow was blocked because it was -3, which was still in the CD Fuzzy frames for that game.

Well, sure... you could make throws 8 frames and make everything up toe -7 fuzzyable if you wanted to but that would be a strange design choice.
