Eh, I could take or leave that idea. Not a deal breaker.

I was playing DoA2 the other day (because I got a JPS2 for free from a friend, and that along with it, so I figured I might as well use it...), fighting the irritating computer that randomly decides to reverse everything, and in the (uneven) desert level I tried to PPP Ayane to death, and all 3 punches went right over her head, and I was like 'UG, VF better not adopt this'.

So..la_akira went to E3 and posted some pics on his facebook. This one in particular was telling, so I edited it to give the full story behind VF6. Behold...

Technically you could ban stages in VF5 vanilla online. You could change your custom game settings to walled arenas , short walled, or open rings, so you only have to fight on the ring type of your preference.

I didn't mean the stage banning but rather the multistage idea where it continues in a new area after ring out.

As in you get a round for ring out in an open ring, but then now you're in a ring that you must break walls for a ring out? I think that'd be cool. I wouldn't want it over the top like in DoA where you lose a bunch of damage, have to do that guessing game thing if you're holding onto the ring edge, etc.

However, IDK how many of you played Zero Divide 1/2, but it had an interesting idea for the ring out. To get a true ring out, your character had to be floating a certain height. If you pushed your opponent, they could grab the ring edge then jump back in without falling.

I think it if this was expanded and done in such a way that it takes precision timing (i.e. similar to tech rolling) it would be a neat addition to the game play, thus forcing a combo to ring out an opponent and none of that lame 'i'm so covered in soap' crap where a vacuum slides your character out if he's right on the edge...those are the worst ring outs to lose by!

Here's a video where you see a ring edge grab, even though the round was over if you fast forward to 1:56. The opponent, if you're hanging on, can try and stomp your hands to ring you out. If you're holding on, though, you can launch a mid attack, though slow, if you suspect the opponent will attempt to stomp on your fingers.

Oh, and by the way, if you have PS1, you should check out zero divide 1 or 2. They're basically like variations on VF1 and VF2. It was all we had for PS1 when I was young...no Saturn! :)

wouldn't mind seeing a more streamlined process of sending post-match messages (if you dont have a bluetooth headset that is).

The PSN messaging service is a little sluggish, i'd like to ping out messages a little quicker.
Hope Sega Devs are watching this thread!

Sega isnt really the type to give out news on VF (hence no advertisment at all for FS) it looks like we just have to clench our teeth for this one.

With Tekken and Dead Or Alive doing their own Free To Play thing, what is everyone's thoughts if Virtua Fighter 6 was announced as a Free To Play game?

Wouldn't mind as long as they went the DOA5U route, of releasing a full version as well.

I can't think of any possible way to do VF as free to play that would be profitable over a long period of time and wouldn't make me hate it.

If they had some kind of system where maybe you can pay a small fee to buy a character and you can only play the characters you buy, I would be okay with that in a way. But that wouldn't be a good money maker on the long term.

Really all the elements of these free to play games that keep people spending money and playing are things that would ruin the game for me. Any grinding and leveling up that would effect gameplay, I would hate.

The best fighting game in world for free? Absolutely not! I want the next VF to be a full product and not just a demo. I want to have access to all characters, stages and modes from the beggining. Free-to-play may work well for other games, but not in the case of fighting games. I am ok with DLC items and costumes, but not with a DLC game.

Players should ask more from the developers. A F2P fg is not a complete product. Also, think about the balance issues. F2P fighting game is a game from lazy developers to gamers who don't care about the genre.

Virtua Fighter's 20th Anniversay is in December. It's apparently up to AM2 what they're going to do about it!

Lets make some noise in their direction. They surely must have something planned...
