Hey ...at least you can evade strings in this game :/

Also, lol at people that that continue to mash strings out long after their opponent has evaded. Where you going man? I'm over here

    1. Bounce combos give combos a sense of completion; like a semi-colon or a comma, before the full-stop.

    2. Tekken is not above VF, despite what the elite Tekken descendants that have graced our lowly forums may make you think

    3. YOMI is like VFDC's version of Dr.Dogg and that's not a good thing

Doesn't Dr.Dogg actually know what he is talking about?

No, but he would lead you to believe so were you not wiser.

'Semicolon' is one word; semicolons and commas serve completely different functions (aside from the 'I can't write coherently 'super-comma' semicolon').

If you don't see the similitude then that's your problem.

YOMI not a legendary game designer

Nobody ever said Tekken is absolutely better than VF, I just voiced my personal oppinions on a few subjects I think it does better than VF. I also just corrected and perhaps educated idiots like SDS who don't know what they're talking about. Feel free to offer any corrections to what I've stated, but please keep them factual, if your only response is only some silly ad-hominem attempt or other such waste, then piss off. I'd also love to know what an 'elite Tekken descendant' is.

I'm basically referring to Vanilla VF4's tutorial section. It explicitly went over how evading and tracking works. For example, in VF4 the tutorial specifically states that if you evade successfully and don't press [G] then the opponent will keep going forward, regardless of his or her strings. This also applied to the person who whiffed as he or she had to press [G] to initiate tracking (therefore terminating the string). I may not be remembering all the rules properly, but I do remember the tutorial explicitly going over all of this in addition to circulars beating evade.

In VF5:FS, they go over circulars beating evades in the tutorial, but do not go over tracking at all. So far the only rule I've seen that seems to work pretty consistently is related to natural combo groups. However, in terms of the actual mechanics of tracking (Not pertaining to circulars), I can't find a resource that has the answers. If the VF veterans do know it, then please share.

But combo'ing feels good. Everybody enjoys it. If someone hits you with a big move that's it, it's done. But if they combo you, you are watching and waiting once the combo starts. You don't really know what variety of moves they will hit you with, how bad it is going to be and how long it will run for. There is suspense as you watch the combo unfold, there is drama. It's also impressive. When someone hits me on a good combo I can appreciate that. I wouldn't want to see combos removed. Fighting games could work without them but then we are talking about a different type of fighting game.

But my dream for the fighting genre is for someone to redesign it from the ground up for a new generation. There are so many things I would like to see but I don't add them to this thread because there is no way they will find their way into VF 6. I want a to play a game that can come close to looking like this:

I know that is a tall order but it would be nice to aim for that. A big thing is the static nature of current 3D fighters. This style of: I stand their guarding and if you do your moves against me I block in the style of a brick wall. We need dynamic block animation that changes with the fighting style and the move it's blocking. We need realistic physics when moves get blocked (VF is much better in this regard than other 3D games). We need damage modeling. There needs to be more flow and dynamism. It needs to look more like two people having a fight than two computer characters having a fight. Maybe even zoom the view point in more. Ultimately I would like more realism (but kung fu flick realism not UFC realism :)).

I get my fix of reality from you know ...reality itself. I prefer my videogames to play and look like videogames.

You can get pretty much everything you mentioned by watching boxing or mma, no?

You have highly skilled, intense, martial arts fights in reality? You must have an exciting life :).

There is a difference between realism and reality. I want something closer to reality than what we have not something that is entirely like reality. Obviously it still needs to play like a game and be fun. I specifically said not MMA or boxing but more old school Hong Kong action cinema which itself is not that realistic. And watching is not the issue; I want to play.

I always thought VF5 was a like a Kung-Fu flick, especially when using the Chinese Martial Arts characters. I've heard many people in my area say this, despite them not liking the game The exchanges averaging 1-2 hits adds to this.

With the tech behind VF6, I imagine it'll look that more fluid.

    Cool!

I'm hoping they take their time with it. Console wise, I wanna see this in the 2nd or 3rd year into the new consoles, as the prices will be lower and the install base will be (most likely?) larger.

For those who didn't see this site before the update, there were 6 or so posts which have since been deleted that rumored VF6's announcement at JAEPO.
