    :ROTFL::ROTFL::LOL::ROTFL::X3::unsure::(:cry:

    I play VF4, VF4EVO, VF5 and VF5FS from a nostalgia perspective and for old-times sake.

Virtua Fighter was the landmark 3D Arcade Fighter from the 20th Century. :) It could have been a beacon showing the way forward for the 21rst Century but it appears that ain't gonna happen:whistle:

With the accessibility and the power of processors today there are so many amazing possibilities for innovation in the 3D fighter arena, but instead of innovation we get NFTs and Tekken chasing the world of overpowered, over rendered 3D Sprites, Meters, Gimmicks, and Shenanigans from the 2D fighting world:rolleyes:

The future of 3D Fighters no longer lies with the Japanese game producers. From the looks of Tekken 8, the Japanese are just producing re-runs and leftovers. I think the future of new 3D fighting games and advanced 3D fighting games is gonna be found in other countries and with companies like

    http://sloclap.com/en/page/studio
    https://www.ea.com/games/ufc/ufc-4
    https://wwe.2k.com/2k22/features/

These companies are putting out 3D fighting games with new exciting 3D mechanics that are truly taking advantage of 3D space, Multilevel 3D environments, motion capture, 3D animations, and 3D simulation. No gimmicks, just innovation:holla: Sega/RGG could have saved the Japanese domination in the 3D fighting arena, but it appears they're going the NFT and blockchain route.:meh:

My idea of a new mechanic for VF6 would be a chi system, (C button for short) that enhances your characters offensive and defensive capabilities.

For offense, certain chi based attacks would give your character certain properties such as , frame advantage, combo extenders, super armor etc. For example, Wolf's arrow knuckle(3P) does 17 dmg. But if it were chi based (3P+C) it now deals 21 dmg and causes a sideways knockdown.

For defense, while guarding (6G+C), the character will fend off opponent's unwarranted pressure. And when timed perfectly (5G+C) the character staggers their opponent with a powerful shockwave.

I was also thinking they should have some sort of chi flow state but the idea was kinda resembling tekken's "heat system" so i stopped...

@Hobo-Jho in the rare chance that your post was not a joke, or a sad attempt at sarcasm. Your stopping point was too late:X3::LOL::ROTFL:

    @Hobo-Jho you should've stopped at

Listen M8. Just play Tekken:LOL: Why ruin, deface, and disrespect the Virtua Fighter tradition with power-up mechanics, with super moves, and meters:confused:

The originator (Yu Suzuki) of the Virtua Fighter concept could have gone done that road if he wanted to. At the time VF was introduced there were more than a few fighting games that featured those kinds of shenanigans and Yu Suzuki could have simply copied off those games. But instead he charted a new direction for arcade fighting games.:holla: He used the term 'Virtua' a spin off from the word Virtual, which at the time connoted "realism" If you go back and read any of the dozens of interviews that Yu Suzuki gave in the 90's during the dawn of Virtua Fighter he was all about achieving realism and simulation in an arcade fighting game.

    So your concepts:

    Or

are entirely outside of the range of the tradition, style, flavor, direction, or goals of the Virtua Fighter series.

On the other hand you should be extremely pleased with Tekken 8

If I'm to be honest, I don't expect anything. SEGA haven't promised us anything, so I won't be disappointed If the announcement is unrelated to VF.

But, I find quite interesting the fact that SEGA send those invitations to fighting games content creators such as Joi and Max Dood.

Virtua Fighter's combat system as of now is genuinely one of the greatest of any fighting game, and so it's probably not neccessary to ask for changes on that front (aside from a bit of polish here and there). But I would most certainly ask for more content regarding offline versus, single player content, and online play with rollback netcode. Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown has online content, but the netcode experience is awful and the game lacks content in every other area.

VF4/VF4EVO are still the peaks for fighting games for me and I've played just about every fighting game. Unfortunately the greatest VF games, and therefore greatest overall fighting games, are basically languishing away in obscurity only available on the Playstation 2. And VF4FT is only available on arcade hardware. And of course both are on emulation but those are even more niche (and not really great either compared to the original hardware).

If SEGA are pushing for a VF3TB re-release in arcades I would hope an entire collection is coming. Including stuff like 4FT and 5R.
VF4EVO content is pretty much all anyone ever asks for. Tutorials and Quest Mode. And online modes with strong netcode and basic features like replays and tournaments. Nothing new or innovative or risky even. Just proven modes and features that are decades old at this point.

I would love to play VF4 EVO, but I don't have a PS2 to make that happen. The only ones I have been able to play is VF1 and VF Animation thanks to online emulators, the VF2 genesis remake, and VF5US. The core game design of Final Showdown/Ultimate Showdown is a masterpiece and dwarfs many other fighting game combat systems.

I would absolutely love that! I am a big fan of the VF series and I have an unfortunately limited experience with the individual games as listed above.

Many of the VF single player modes are beloved by many, and there isn't much doubt as to what VF's online play should be. I would personally love a special single player mode similar to Sifu.

Idk...it feels like a cheap tactic to get the views in and draw hype from something, yet again, very underwhelming..they probably realize Max Dood and Joi are popular streamers so getting them invites means getting their followers to tune in thinking its something big when its usually not..I'm not falling for this for the 20th time..

Like VF 30th anniversary is near and the announement would be NOTHING related to VF...at all..

    I agree.

I'm happy for both of them getting invitations. But they should have given those invites, to actual VF players, people who literally play VF, and VF players who left because they didn't like the direction, the series was heading. That would have been a more meaningful move.

But VF was only realistic relative to the 2d fighters that were around at the time like SF, MK, SNK fighters etc. It's not actually realistic. Early Tekken apart from some fantasy characters was no less realistic and the characters they added in the next few sequels were also mostly based around martial art styles.

I hope SEGA is reading this specific thread. Maybe it's a good idea if we all could Brainstorm on how to make VF6 more "DRAMATIC", which effectively correlates with the feeling of excitement for both the Players and Spectators. :D

I have several (raw) ideas as below, with which the detailed implementation of these concepts still requires some figuring out by SEGA:

    1. Make attacks more impactful with additional animations and reactions to attacks. We want spectators to feel the pain in each attack landed like stuns, counters, knockdowns, and critical attacks. Environmental Damage can also intensify this feeling during battles.

    2. Several stuns/counters in a row (or within a specific timeframe) could lead to a "stagger/dizzy" state where specific Special Moves can then be performed during this "dizzy" state resulting in "Dramatic Critical Moves".

    3. Implement something similar to "Brutalities" (not Fatalities) from the Mortal Kombat series where we should meet certain conditions or land specific attacks on the opponents several times during the rounds to perform "Dramatic Critical Finishes" at the end of the Final Round. This could also include specific Stage Dramatic Critical Finishes.

    4. By implementing the above concepts, VF6 does not require Rage Arts, Super Moves, or Super Gauge like in 2D Fighting Games as these dramatic sequences are incorporated directly into the fights themselves, and follow the flow of battle strategies, reactions, and reads.

    5. Some Stages will have Ring Outs while others do not and they might have some specific gimmicks for specific characters. For example, Goh can cheat and throw sand into your eyes.

    6. Just make the New VF a "AAA" game with deep stories like the Yakuza Series. Customers can choose whether to buy the Full Game or only the Online Components with Ranked, Casual, and Standard Arcade modes with basic Endings. At this point, SEGA is an expert in making these types of games and marrying this concept with a real Fighting Game has never been done before.

As I have mentioned previously, SEGA does not need to call this New Game "Virtua Fighter" at all. It could also be a New Franchise altogether or they can also still incorporate the word "Virtua" into the title/story for legacy.

Please keep these ideas flowing, guys! :) If any of you have some connections with the SEGA Internal Team. Please kindly direct them to this thread.

I think a focus on single player modes would be a great start.

Maybe a cinematic story mode or take a familiar route with something modeled off of Yakuza. The setting of virtua fighter is interesting when you read through it, but this could be the game that casts a light upon it. With it being the 6th entry, perhaps the story could focus on an investigation on J6. This ties in with quite a bit of the cast members and could lead to something entertaining at the least.

Other than that, maybe they could add in some mini games like virtua tennis or racing. Others might have way better ideas here.

Making the gameplay more dramatic sounds difficult imo. With the game having a core focus on realism compared to other fighter's in the genre, focusing on the graphics, stages and camera might be the path it needs to take. I mention camera as ideas such as slow motion moments and replays could give players the chance to see how impactful the moves are by seeing how the models react to them. This really comes down to how the characters will look, but it could be a way that mirrors realism due these camera shots being used in real life martial art competitions.

I feel like the stages are what make VF stand out from other fighters. A majority of these stages look like locations that real martial art events would happen in. That said, I think it would be cool to see some other concepts be added in besides these standard arenas.

If I were to suggest any major gameplay changes(which i don't think it'd be necessary at all, but just for the fun of brainstorming, why not), I have two in mind that come from combat sim games like those mma and boxing games. These are ROUGH ideas, but I feel like they'd add drama(not sure if it'd be the drama they're looking for though) to the gameplay. Injuries could be a unique addition, or honestly annoying depending on the execution. For example, how often an injury would appear? Like, if you got one per round, then I'd find that annoying. It would have to be done well if they were ever to make an addition like that. Or they could possibly do something with movement being affected by health, but that also doesn't sound to enjoyable and could ruin amazing comeback moments that are a joy to both see and perform. I'd be curious to see concepts like these added if they choose to go this very doubtful route, but it could lead to a unique entry.

These are the ideas that came to mind right away. Curious to see what everyone else thinks or to read what other people come up with too.

I think it would be fun for the game to group players by city and host a series of tournaments to determine that city's representative, who would then go on to compete for region representative, then country, then world championship like two or three times a year along with tournament stats and replays accessable from the main menu. If rollback is a part of the game then something like this would be possible to pull off, and we'd be able to have the same kind of drama as a popular sport or the Olympics

To piggyback on SSSHinji and LoG0's ideas...New characters for the 6th installment. 20 + 2 or 3 more new characters isn't going to cut it in this day and age...PLEASE SEGA...we need 10+ new characters in Virtua Fighter to add in more variety. I can give 10 new character types that I'd like to see: These would also be inspired characters from the Streets of Rage series as that game has the modern appeal VF needs

    1. Dedicated boxer/shootboxing (Long overdue) just make him an Adam Hunter-esque like character

    2. Dedicated Taekwondo (these two fighting styles, with the aforementioned boxer, are practically staples in any fighting game..I'm not sure why they aren't any reps yet in VF.. I personally don't consider Sarah Bryant to be a Taekwondo rep as she is a mix of different styles)

    3. Wing Chun (Long Overdue..damn near staple at this point..)

    4. Russian representative - just for character diversity. Broaden the boarders of a Virtua Fighter tournament and go global. Fighting style can be a mixture of things maybe even something out of the ordinary..

    5. Axel Stone-like not necessarily the character himself but a character that acts as a street brawler mixed with Karate, being the only character to pick up weapons on a certain stage (idea based from SSShinji)

I'd honestly just like to add all of 'Streets of Rage' characters to VF6 as they have a cast unique enough to add moves for in a 3D fighting game such as Virtua Fighter. It's been done before with Final Fight and Street Fighter so I don't see a problem with Street of Rage and Virtua Fighter https://streetsofrage.fandom.com/wiki/Category:Playable_Characters any of these characters would do

    6. a Karate/Judo Grappler - this may seem repetitive since we already have Goh but I personally believe there's another way to add the Judo rep in a more convenient way. by adding in the Karate MA style gameplay. Also the Karate side of this character would make him/her play at a faster pace than Goh (inspiration from the Flash Point)

    7. A character that use Snake Fist

    8. A character that uses Capoeira

    9. Make Dural playable? like she should be accessible by now Sega lets stop using her as a final boss and get someone new please..

    10. Last but not least...bring Siba back?? The more global representation towards a fighting game the better

Sry my friend, VF is the most realistic of the 2D and 3D arcade fighting games. From the 90's through present day. Not only did Tekken feature kangeroos, dinosaurs, pandas, grizzly bears, robots, and androids, It was and still is floaty as fuck:cool: Almost everything in Tekken is a launcher, and during intermediate to advanced matches the characters spend more time in the air than feet on the ground. The 10,20,30 hit combos following massive launch opportunities catapults Tekken out of reality. And the Tekken 8 Shenanigans are beyond the pale.:LOL::ROTFL: VF has always been about realism. Seiji Aoki fucked up VF5US with the hit sparks, but all the previous versions are still playable;)

I think the UFC games are the most realistic fighters to date. However VF use to hold that title. I agree with masterpo that Tekken is more on the fantasy side. If VF becomes more dramatic it may end up being a DOA clone. If it adds supers etc it will be a Tekken 8 clone. For it to truly be the next VF the graphics must blow all current fighters out of the water. Add bruising (red blush, purple bruises etc.) Clothes getting wet (Shuns stage in VF5 makes clothes wet but it isn't so realistic) multiple weather scenarios. Rain, Sunshine, Snow etc. Improve the motion capture. Dodging being more realistic in mo cap and not just a video game slide animation. As for the system that is a hard one. VF innovated every game but VF5 is basically 4 with bound combos from Tekken and different shaped arenas. I wonder if they could revisit VF3 with different ground levels but, nerf the combo system a bit. There must be a way to push fighting games past 2d game systems, or exaggerations.
