    I think it's just a random tweet.

Ed's a big fan of Tekken and in fact it's his favorite 3D fighter. I think it has to do with the juggling mechanics as both Tekken and MK are juggle heavy.

Honestly, at this juncture, I'd only expect news on next gen and I don't think SEGA will repeat VF5 mistake and release their new game on a small user base.

Having said that, a re-release of VF5FS is really appreciated.

Dude Ed Boon is really a big fan of Virtua Fighter ???

It's not the first time that he tweets about VF !

VF6 for the next gen incoming please...

Of course lol i didn't meant it was a hint or something, it just cool that someone like Ed Boon brought VF in the discussion

Yeah i remember he said many time that like Tekken, and also play it usually, this guy has good taste ^^

From what i get from his interviews, he like fighting games in general, specially those with realistic looks like Tekken and VF (He also like Street Fighter though)

It's just a tweet as fan from Ed Boon, i bet Sega themselves doesn't like VF as much as Ed Boon does actually lol

SEGA has an incredible chance to own an IP like Virtua Fighter !!!

They should be proud as f***.

SEGA's owning VF is like Mitsubishi owning Lancer Evolution...
Financial instability for years hurry their ability to take chances and do wonders with their wonderful projects.

Well Mitsu's Evo is rumored to be coming back.... Hopefully VF comes back as well.

Sega for some reason is too afraid to make Virtua Fighter 6, meanwhile Namco said that Tekken 7 reached 5 million...

SEGA has been too stupid for missing the hype train of fighting games this generation, in comparison with the old one where it was all about FPS.

And yet we are talking already about Tekken 8, rumors say it will be announced soon ...

SEGA is a $5 billions company right ? Top 5 video games publisher in Japan ?

They can't fund or make a new Virtua Fighter ? What a joke.

The 'boom' of fighting games now is a bit of a meme. They're not as popular as they were in the 90s by a long shot, and because all the fighting game developers are incompetent, China is probably going to brute force takeover the genre with garbage like League of Legends etc anyway.

There's still room for a VF, but Sega isn't missing out on a gold mine like people think, they're right to be cautious.

Not sure where this positivity is coming from, but send those good vibes out, it's nice.

I agree... Fighting games ain't a gold mine nor their e sport scene is taken seriously. NRS games outsell the rest by a good amount not because they are technically better but because of their non mechanics related features ( story modes/ movie script etc...)

I don't think SEGA will release VF to compete or to get a ratio of the fighting games pie but rather to Target the VF fans. There is a community for VF. It's not as big as SF,MK or Tekken but it's out there. And I think SEGA will target that community primarily with their next game and try to get in New players through the series well known solide mechanics and maybe graphics ? ( Remember all previous VFs outshined their competitors graphically at the time of their releases).
From my exp at the MK scene, the more MK tried to appease the known names in the E-Sport scene the more they slammed it and trolled the developer. I don't think they will be nice towards VF. It has a block button ( TABOOOOO) it's not juggle heavy ( OMG Tekken is better).

I just don't think SEGA will or even should target the fighting community but rather their long time fans. I DON'T WANT TO SEE A STORY MODE. I DON'T CARE ABOUT A STORY MODE.

I think we will get it eventually. I want it AM2 developed and if I am ok if that's gonna take more time cause VF5FS is still the best.... By far.

This console generation was decent for fighting games.

Every big names had a new game (except VF of course !).

And Smash Ultimate sold 15 millions.

    MKX + MK11 20 millions WTF ?

    T7 5 millions.

    SF5 4 millions

    ...

"But fighting game is a niche genre"

I'm sorry but when a game reaches over 1 million, it's not niche anymore to me at all.

Bullshit ! They make a tooooonnn of money with fighting games ! It's like FIFA or COD, money everywhere when it's done right.

Killer Instinct and DBFZ did pretty well too.

And it's not over yet, The King of Fighters 15 is coming...

I agree with this but i think something is happening behind the scenes at Sega.

If they're not then Sega is even more retard than i thought.

The niche game thing doesn't mean a thing, you make good game you sell, you don't you won't sell, VF4Evo sold pretty well back then, quite impressive for a fighting game that was quite hardcore without any kind story more. I mean do you think MK would sell if it didn't have the big cinematic story mode? I doubt it.

Looks at SFV, it didn't sell very well at launch, and did much less than SF4 and MK, mostly because of lack of casual modes and stuffs like that.

But Sega is just being Sega, remember that at first Yakuza was only releasing on Japan because they didn't believe it will do well in the West, but then because of a lot of demand and Sony pushing, they ended releasing the games more frequently and quickly to the west, and it's very successful now even in the West.

I don't think the story mode is what sells MKs. I don't think it has a high completion rate.

The games are good on their own and they are marketed quite well by WB. Ed is also a Twitter gaming persona that also helps move the sales. He tweets about funerals and general life things and the stupid fans demand for Rain and Mileena.

Harada is the same for Tekken. AM2 can do the same actually if they are willing... Everything starts with a small step.

80% of the true hardcore and real fans of fighting games from long date, don't really care of the story mode... To me it's like a "bonus".

SFV story mode was absolutely not needed, it's pretty damn awful and a waste of ressources. Same for Killer Instinct Shadow Lord, DOA6, DBFZ, SoulCa6...

You don't tell me it is these piece of s*** modes that sold these games, because it's so damn bad and vomit video games.

_What we really want in fighting games in order :

    1 Gameplay.

2 Great ambience/vibes and graphic styles (stages, costumes, musics, and menu).

3 A good number of characters (different, catchy, badass, unique, iconic, and balanced).

    4 Graphics.

5 A solid or even decent online.

    6 A great training/dojo mode.

7 And then we can talk about the stupid story mode that nobody care.

You seem to understand what a good fighter is.

VF has always had a great ambience to them..they just bring the arcade vibes and feels to your home. No other game gets close aside from maybe SNK's ?

Hence why I have been calling for a pure VF experience. VF4Evo had better single player content than most of this gen.

VF doesn't have to establish itself... It's already established... It ranks high among critics and usually leads in lists.

Anyway... I don't expect it now... Nor at the start of next gen ( I think SEGA won't use a similar VF5's timing). I understand VF6 not coming out now... What I don't understand is the lack of a current Gen VF5FS port. That's the mystery for me.

Lol! Let them and the gaming media talk their silly crap talk.

    Concerning this....
One of the reasons why alot of non Tekken gamers/fans, from back in the old days to now, ignore tekken/media fanboys and literally don't argue or waste their time, arguing with them most of the time, is because we all know that for the past 26 years, they have been talking silly crap. And comments like that sadly prove why.

That block button comment still makes me laugh though.:ROTFL:
