amen to that. i don't play sarah anymore, but i used her all the way up to vf4 and then dropped her. anyways getting into flamingo can be a bitch sometimes and it really would be better if you could just go directly into it w/o having to do "said designated" series to get into flamingo... Further, the only reason I say she could use more kung fu is if they put in a strictly TKD character in there. then they'd have to take out some of her TKD moves... and as far as her punching... i guess they could strengthen it a bit, but her kicking game is so damn solid she's lethal as is.

They should make the character customization way better, or kinda like ssx 3. The customization is way better than Evo's customizing. You can, say for ex. put a hat, facepaint, AND some glasses for youre character! How cool is that? You can also mix and match the lower body (pants) with the upper body (shirt). Now that would be awesome! Oh, and one more thing, Virtua Fighter 2 10th anniversary! /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

That's mainly because Japanese voice actors take themselves seriously. Voice acting in the US that's not for a major motion picture is usually half-assed.

dude i'm not even sure the voice acting was done by americans, i doesn't sound like it. unless they found the most turd sounding americans they could find. i think they just found some americans over in japan (who were 12) and gave them some soda and $5 to do the acting for this game.

i've heard some crappy voice actors in my time, but VF takes the cake.

Wow I'm so Retro now that my Avatar is BROKEN. On the crappy voice topic, I'd like to say VF is top 5. But I think Dynasty Warriors takes the cake, and the bakery. DW3 anyone? That is the crappest peice of shitty voice acting...EVER, period, you cant even argue! What else? Megaman X4 is very crap, I also thought of the same with Tekken 4 but I guess I may have simply gotten used to it.

Its funny cause it feels like they almost messed up the voice acting on purpose...

You've gotta remember, this IS Sega we're dealing with. While the voice acting in VF is 6 different kinds of horse shit, it still smells better than what Sega puts in their arcade games. House of the Dead, anyone?

Yea, but Symphony of the Night was a great game. Besides, not all the voicework was terrible. I thought Dracula's little speech right at the beginning was pretty good. Something about humans being miserable little piles of pent-up homosexual frustration. I don't remember.

    VF5 movie at E3

Brisal73 just called from E3 to report seeing a Sega demo movie showing VF5 footage of Akira and Sarah. More details as they become available. Hopefully a gaming journalism site gets the movie posted soon.

I just came from the show myself; I headed directly to the Sega booth, not expecting much really, just kind of out of habit, and saw they had a theater. I hopped into line and after a 20 minute wait or so I got to check out footage of most of the next gen games that Sega had on the floor (Full Auto, Condemned, etc.). After they were done with that they showed some footage of some 1st party next gen games, namely VF, House of the Dead, Sonic, and something that appeared to be a new Afterburner. I must say that all the games were very impressive, with the next gen Sonic (not that Shadow the Hedgehog game, a real, new Sonic) probably being the most visually stunning - I can honestly say it looked near Pixar quality. What's better is that they assured us that all the footage we saw was in fact in engine - one of the presenters even held up his controller and moved the 1st-person perspective Sonic-cam around to prove that it was live.

The Virtua Fighter material, as mentioned above, featured Akira and Sarah. They both looked great, but nothing like the rendered crap Sony is shoving down people's throats, passing it off as real. I would say it was similar to the quality of DOA4. Also in the footage were new levels, one of them looked quite similar to a screenshot that was floating around here a while ago. I also have to note it was basically shown in a demo capacity; time of day changes were done on the fly, new specular on Sarah's blue costume, etc . - Certainly not gameplay footage, more like attract mode stuff.

All in all I left with a really positive feeling about Sega's next gen prospects. As a developer, I was relieved to see actual in engine game demos with awesome advancements in graphics, as opposed to the strange "artist renditions" that everyone is fawning over (the Killzone 2 movie in particular had everyone in my office in an uproar).

ok Im back.. I think segas demos were pretty damn good. VirtuaFighter in my opininon looked quite better than DOA. Backgrouds are similiar to DOA, but the detail in the characters is much improved.

Afterburner was pretty crazy and fast...Almost felt like I was flying.

House of the Dead was pretty good also and this was with 12 zombies attacking u at one time.

Sonic was good and people were shocked when she proved the real time demo by moving in the world...btw after the show I looked a bit closer at the controller she was using and it was an old Sega Saturn pad.

no announcement about what system it was being made for but I found one site saying its X360

Movie.. gimmie... NOW! I love this moment so much I want to Sexxorz it!

That's all very well and good, but the highlight was definitely seeing Sega's franchises enter "the next level" (yes, that phrase was actually used). Leading the pack was Virtua Fighter. Both Akira and Sarah demonstrated martial arts forms while the background rotated between different stages. The folds in their clothing crumpled and shifted naturally according to their movement, and the detail and lighting effects in both the character models and the background environments were truly next generation. The animation in their performances was very fluid as well.
