The game title of "Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown" has just been rated by the Game Rating and Administration Committee of Korea for the PS4 platform, and, interestingly, the rating lists "Virtua Fighter esports" as the original title. With recent news of the PS3 store shutting down, and no current, stand-alone way to play VF5FS on a PlayStation 4 or 5 console, could this be SEGA's move to kill two birds with one stone? Officially bring the latest title in some kind of updated "ultimate" form into the esports scene, and playable on a modern console?

I think it shows updated characters' models myself. It shows a different art style than the previous VF5s.

We need to temper our expectations. The leaked artwork doesn't necessarily represents the in-game models used in VF5US.

I wish Sega communicate as much as Insomniacs.

If it's not then sega fucked up bad. Graphics today would make that artwork barely good enough to be an in-game model. I sometimes wonder if folks play modern games? graphics have gotten much better.

Have they? I played a lot of recent fighters and I really don't find them much prettier than Final Showdown. Maybe in terms of pure polygon pushing, but art direction/presentation they're about on par to me.

All versions of VF5 and even VF4 (arcade VF4) have aged very very gracefully. I swear the models look less plastic-y and more polished than T7 IMO.

The games look great. AM2 never fails to deliver

Right, even if some are better graphically, the art direction or lighting can be lack luster. Honestly, outside of Xrd/Strive/DBFZ, none really strike me as amazing or well ahead of FS.

I love the artstyle of VF. I find it very unique among the non sense array of flying demons, fighting animals, pallet swaps and abominations like Chloe from T7.

VF does have some of those but done better. Androgynous ? Jean is better. Chloe like ? Eileen and that happened 10 years ahead of Tekken.

Oh and I love the background per character and I love how classy they are.

So what realistic changes/improvements would people be happy with, assuming it's a release based on FS?
At this point I'd take improvements to the training mode and online infrastructure.
With the training mode I'd like modern features like being about to set an action or recording and have the cpu do that after block or wakeup, and queuing for online matches while in training mode.

With online rollback is the dream, but just give me a lobby where multiple people can play at the same time and people can join while matches are in progress.

Sadly with the new rollback wave I feel like any fighting game release without solid online or a very established player base is going to suffer. Hope Sega realise this too and don't mess up.

What would be huge for VF :

Rollback, crossplay, regular unlockable content (costumes, skins, items), 4k 120fps.

I think maybe VF5US will have remixed stages + a new lightning and some new moves/animations, as it always was the case with each versions of VF5.

A fresh and new OST would be also great.

Some new menus and lobbies are obvious too.

I hope the time it takes before we have any news, it's just because they are seriously working on the game and for something good.

      I need the game to:
1- Update graphics and update characters models.
2- Change menue please. Change mugshots.
      3- Update osts.
4- Add new animations and moves.
      5- Better online mode.
      6- Xbox release.

I need the game to re-add the 1P/2P confirmations post match like in vanilla. Have it so both players have to select rematch and allow the player who lost to choose stage.

Just curious what do you mean by "adding new animations"? To me it sounds like what I've been asking for when I first got here ;)

Sarah has a bounce in her step that was drastically changed from VF5 vanilla, makes her look more natural. I hope they do that for the other characters as well.

Are you referring to her fighting stance? If so, I agree, in VF5 Vanilla, her stance did look odd but is better as of VF5FS

Also I would hope for a Switch port also if possible.

      What i want is:

      At least/super important:

      - Rock solid Netcode: No matter how much a game can be great, but nowadays without netcode the game will have hard to time survive (most people don't have offline communtiy, and specially with that covid era we're living)

      - Balance Patch + new moves: This is important i think for a update version of the game, specially that comes years later, i mean anything is possible but i don't see how sega will just let the game as it is with FS, or else they would simply called the game VF5FS remaster. But the game's name is VF5US so.

      - The obvious fps/res upgrade, tbh this is a given.

And then they can do or add many things, i can go infinite but just to name super cool things that come to my mind, if possible it would be awesome to have:

      - New game modes would be nice, to me specially Quest Mode, VF4 evo quest mode is still to this day my all time favorite single player mode in any fighting game
      - Update character model
      - 1 or 2 new costumes for the characters
      - some new stages, one, two or theree.
      - A new character (it's very unlikely to happen imo, but that would be cool for sure)
      - If they can add graphics features like RT for next gen consoles ect would be neat, the game is already beautiful but if they can make it more beautiful then sure why not.

I think people underestimate how fresh this game should feel. It can have the best NETCODE ever, but people will NEVER jump back in if it's an exact release of the 2012 version.

We love VF, but to have more new players on, it has to do more than just being a port.

I would like that as well. I guess push comes to shove, I would buy a Playstation 5 for this game, along with me revisiting Tekken, Soul Calibur, and Dead or Alive. Unfortunately, most of the majority of the 2d fighting games are in 3d, so I might as well migrate to 3d fighting games.

I think SEGA has been serious about bouncing back for a few years now... With Yakuza picking up steam helping them getting more exposure...

I would love more SEGA and I think we are getting that.
