Just to play devil's advocate here, I only play single-player, I've made a video about unlocking Dural in VF5 and it seems to be one of my more popular VF videos, but I wouldn't miss an unlockable Dural at all, if she isn't unlockable.

They probably should make her playable at least for local VS or something though, which may still be possible, who knows.

This probably isn't why they changed it, but in VF5 vanilla, the AI cannot defend against throws effectively; you can throw the highest level AIs just as easily as the lowest level AIs, so your high level single-player strategy with pretty much any character matchup becomes: throw.

I haven't actually checked to see if the AI is better at throw defense in FS, though.

My wild guess: Because they already had "Final," and they needed something that sounded like it trumped that. ; )

Also, they knew that the Japanese name for it, "Virtua Fighter eSports" or whatever, would be more or less reviled by the Western audience.

I wouldn't count on it. The PS2 version of VF4 vanilla had an option to turn off that game's new hit flash effect, but the option was removed in VF4: Evolution, and never returned.

The countdown on http://www.virtuafighter.jp/ (you have to include the "www" or you get a 'server not found' error : P ; ) is at 1 day, 11 hours, 26 minutes.

TTT2 and VF5FS both had great netcode, and USF4 was also solid at the time. MK and Injustice were the awful ones.

It's ironic that now NRS games are the ones with the best netcode, just recently beat by GG strive's.

Now we'll see how VF5US netcode is gonna be, it would great if it was rollback but no mention yet, unless they're saving this info for the tomorrow reveal, either way hopefully it will be good cause it would be weird to fuck up this knowing the game is releasing in covid-19 era and the game's codename is VFEsport.

Strive beta had hands down the best netcode I've ever played in an FG. I could only play on my terrible living room wifi and not wired. Other games would be unplayable, but GG I didn't even notice at all. I was blown away tbh.

like i say before i realy like the vf serie for over 30 year

but i also need to be true and say , i`m not very happy how sega communicate with they customer and make this a ps+ exclusives a few day before release i think is the worst marketing move possible , a lot of player not having a ps4 or ps5 are just not prepare ,

first- most ps5 are back order everywhere ,

so the only option i have is to buy a outdate ps4 for this game :(
with a fightstick , sure everyone having a old ps4 or a news ps5 is got nothing to complaning there , but on the other side throwing 600$ too 800 $ too play a reboot , that start to be a bit expensive , i dont understand sega doing this in the last minute compare to put this game everywhere xbox steam ps and rebuild a player base, and after make a announcement 6 month before release vf6 is exclusive ps5 , i will have np with that

i have nothing to complain about the game , maybe only sega hype a bit to much the title name with ultimate because right now he see any new character or move , let hope maybe tomorow :) thank you

Yeah at this point it started to feel it's gonna be a thing this ps+ leak. That's neat, more players will test the game and that's great.

Now i think they will sell the game for cheap while keep dlc not included and sold separately like with FS.

That strategy didn't seem to be well received by a lot of people at the time, but if those people had received the base VF5FS for free like they will get VF5US if they have PS+, they probably wouldn't have complained as much.

I wonder what the VF5US price will be for non-PS+ subscribers (like me; you'll almost certainly need Plus to play it online, but I just want to play single-player)? I'm thinking somewhere in the $15 (like FS was) to $20 range. Maybe we'll find out tomorrow.

(If they haven't fixed the AI and you can still spam simple attacks--Goh's Back+P,P, for instance--to overwhelm it even on the highest difficulty like you can in FS, I'll just have to delete the game immediately and hope PS gives me the automatic refund. : D Hm. Or maybe keep it on the off-chance they actually fix it at some point? Oh decisions, decisions. But for now, crossing fingers and hoping they've already fixed it, although I know that's unlikely. ; ))

If i would guess i say 20$ if no customization, or 40$ if customization included.

Honestly they better have a solid netcode, the game is gonna be availble on ps+ for too many people, it will be a missed opportunity if the netcode end up being shit. hopefully it will be solid.

About the UI, I think maybe it needs some revision, tweaks but I like the simple and flat UI, the life bars on previous Guilty gears are ugly I prefer the new ones.
I hope (its a dream) VF5US had some beautiful details like the progressive wall destruction or some physics like the fog on VF5 Vanilla, but my expectations are low, with the new graphics and stage/characters revision I'm ok.
But my new concern is about some lights, in some stage the lights are beautiful but in other like the Burning stage are so flat, maybe is an old revision, the quality of the trailer (teaser) or the angle

I like this approach. If this is actually true and Suzuki is making it himself then this current project is a risk worth taking.
Which is even more weird for them to bring hit sparks back. Little things like this are noticable, makes me question their confidence on decision making, very wishy washy.

well, if hit flash effect will increase the player base, im all for it.

The game looks dark, and unimpressive lightning that makes the game look flat and boring. VF5fs was vivid and alive.

I think the netcode is the primary goal for the team, as the arcade business is in lockdown during covid, so lots of japanese vf5 players will rely on console versions, who for sure demand a good netcode.

And it may be difficult to get crossplatforming, and sega isnt in a position willing to play big license money to have their game on sone consoles online store, so making it ps4 exclusive may have been sonys way of accepting no licence cost.

Sorry, I used some confusing terms. VF has had what I called "hit flash" since VF4: a colored lighting effect that illuminates the nearby parts of the character models when a hit is made. 5 and FS have it.

What people are calling "hit sparks" is a different thing: the little animating explosion sprite (or whatever it is) effect that floats in midair for a moment where a hit was made, which is visible in this trailer. There has never been a hit "spark" effect in a main line Virtua Fighter game before. Tekken, on the other hand, has had big over-the-top hit spark explosions since the first game in that series, and sparks feature very prominently in pretty much every other fighting game series EXCEPT, before now, Virtua Fighter.

The sparks seen in this trailer are quite mild compared to those in pretty much every other relatively recent fighting game: they're relatively small, don't get very bright, and have a gentle fade in and fade out.

This new "spark" explosion sprite is accompanied by a "flash" localized lighting effect which, as someone pointed out in this thread, now illuminates the stage as well, and not just the character models; before now in VF, there was "flash" on the character models only, and no "spark."
