I also heard Lau will not be in 6. So it makes sense! I also hear there is some extensive gameplay tweaks in R.

well they need more than gameplay tweaks if they want vf series to continue its popularity. although a good game vf5 was a joke in terms of bringing new gameplay to the series. i think its telling that yu suzuki now has no input into the series since vf4 as by and large the series has now stagnated under the current am2 administration. he seemed to be the driving force for real change during the evolution of vf series.

im currently in tokyo on holiday and the vf machines are nearly deserted next to the popularity of tekken. sega need something bigger than this iterative type R pish.

Nah only joking, if they do that the new character will have to retain his move's set at the very least otherwise we're gonna hear bare crying! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

Yu Suzuki wasn't involved in Evo or FT either, and those turned out pretty good haven't they? (certainly better then original VF4 which was fucked up).

Hot news...!!! yet another character! and now is known the first one is a girl and will fight Jet Kune Do and the other is an Arab guy from Fighters Megamix (I don't know what that is).

It seems AM2 are changing their policies about 2 characters per game/version. Pictures will be available soon... I can't wait :p

The validity of this claim sounds rather sketchy. First of all the guy posting is rather new to the forums, and second I have seen where these fans put info up about the game and back it with 100% confidence but no fact or claim whatsoever.

Don't get me wrong it would be totally awesome to see all this done (getting 2 more characters that Siba guy, and a new girl), but until I see actuall photos and footage and not just fanboy hype I'll be skeptical. It would be nice and all, but it for now I call BS until I see actual photos, and footage.

This is why I love random posts stating something as fact with no evidence to back it up:

[insert other posts even considering validity of "OMG 2 MORE CARATARS!"]

I loved how people got riled-up when they saw the new weapon-based intros and so many <s>idiots</s> believed that this was the beginning of a weapon spin-off or being able to use your items.

Makes me wish I was a business major or had that mentality... haha.

lol...evo was a balanced version of vf4...are you trying to claim they're different games or what?

every vf game up to vf4 involved big gameplay and style changes. its pretty obvious an element of stagnation has crept in since.

People seem to forget that there was also a considerable drop in VF's Japanese popularity in the VF2 -> VF3 transition, when arguably the most changes to the game were made.

It's a tough decision for competitive game designers to make: change too little and risk players being bored, or change too much and risk pissing people off and alienating them. Witness the frothing insanity in the Smash Bros scene right now with Brawl turning out to be radically different from Melee, or the insane amount of bile being spewed at Street Fighter IV for, well, everything. (Fishie and I played SFIV at GDC, BTW, and it's not bad at all. The gameplay is definitely a return to the Super Turbo style, which - again - will either make you very happy or very angry.)

AM2 tried to play it more conservative this time (no surprise, given the current Japanese gaming market generally just wants more of the same old shit), but since VF players are a picky bunch, that backfired. It looks like VF5R will add a lot more new gameplay elements, though. Will it help, or just alienate more players? We're all hoping for the former.

Sad news... Siba was canceled, yet again, how ironical /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif

Note: I cannot reveal my source, but if you don't want I don't say anything... if you want you can ask me anything from the gameplay or else.

Well, can you reveal anythin solid? Like, are the gameplay changes going to change the game drastically? Just tell me we are not going to 4 buttons gameplay!
Can we be sure that except for the new guy and Taka there is going to an additional character? Can you tell what style she'(I dunno, I think it would be a woman) uses /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif ?
Is any character going to be removed from the game?
Is the number of customization items still around 200 (that's the average no. of items per char in ver.C arcade)
Are there going to be all the things ver.C/D have? Bingo, chained chests, costume E?
How many new stages are there goin' to be? Is there going to be a new soundtrack? Will we be able to choose the old versions of the stages?
Are there any plans to release the game on consoles even if it's not in a near future?
What's the name of the new Karate fighter? :p
Anyway, please answer any of the questions you can /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif Thanks!

El Blaze will be toned down, damage will change for some of his moves and throws.

I don't know anything about customizations, there will be two new stages and two new sountracks, several stage musics will have a remix version, don't know if the original sountracks will be there.

The name of the new character might change (or so I've been told) there have been two names so far the first one was Abel, the current name is Kuden; no last name so far.

The desition of canceling Siba is too recent, I don't know the reasons or anything else.

Taka Arashi is currently a "in development" version, so I can't really say much.

No characters will be removed, and no big changes will be made. There will be between 5 to 10 new moves for all characters, Pai seems to have more work than anyone else, so probably she will be the one with more new moves.

I dont know if there will be a console version, but chances are it will since there's no intention of releasing VF5R outside Japan so far.
