It more so counts as a blue counter, where the normal hit properties do not change for the most part, but the damage increases. Iageri (or Flash Sword Kick as it's known in English) is required for his high damage, but he can still get that damage if you practice enough. I have honed my execution so much in the training mode that I can Perform a Flash Sword Kick extremely consistently in many combos, causing Jacky's damage to skyrocket.

Mix ups are not just throws. Those characters you mentioned have either better lows then Jacky, have a powerful guard break string or there throw game is better. With Brad he has a lot of utility with his throws.

Jacky is not known for good mix ups. He never has been. He's always been a counter hit character.

Ah yeah, thanks for pointing that out! : ) (Here's the old Japanese language version from FS:

That is true. Mix ups are not exclusively throws. However, mix ups between mids and throws are the primary form of mix up in VF, so having less throw damage can be a decent flaw. As for the things you mentioned, Jacky's ability to do all of those is weaker than those characters.

He and Sarah are probably the characters with the most rewarding counter hits.

      SSD tho..

But seriously, I think FS almost reached the “chess” level where it’d be timeless and perfect.

I see. You can still map it in the Playstation setting-accessibility. I personally use L1 button on my stick to simulate R3 so that I can pinky reset in dojo

LOL. FS is more like checkers. That was the goal, to simplify the game to encourage aggression. 80% of the moves are safe, you can't just sidestep and DM P+K a string. Removing defensive options like reversals from Vanessa and Kage. Clash system got nixed. FS was the first VF where the changes were made to benefit the spectator more than the player. Sega just wanted dumbed down fast-paced brawls because that looks better on the stream at EVO. Namco and Capcom have gone down this route as well in recent years.

I admit I was probably boasting a little too much there.

One thing though. Why did you quote what I said twice?

It's crazy to think after all of this time, we're going to get some type of balance update lol. Holy cow. Glad that I get to play it to PC now!

Almost certainly this is going to be a test for things for a VF6. Testing some new moves and changes for a direction with VF6, testing the rollback on steam for VF6.

Little chance of getting the rollback onto VF5US, and pretty much zero chance of ever getting crossplay happening.

But given how much VF5FS I'm playing on emulator, I'm mad excited for a version with rollback.

Hmm...so now that we will soon be able to play on PC,
For our forum account contact details "Identities" be updated to include our STEAM/PC accounts ?
I included mine in my forum signature, since there is currently not a section for it.
Outside of that, looking forward to joining a STEAM community group for the game !

What I'm also really hyped about is the balance changes. That could be anywhere from simply frame data, to certain combos not working anymore by changing the way you can re-float (so to speak) characters and how many times you can bound and wall splat people etc.

I'd honestly like to see a reworked system. Especially with the movement. After all this time, I still haven't gotten used to not being able to do other inputs besides a forward dash after crouch dashing backwards. Used to be able to fuzzy guard with crouching back dashes if I remember right.

I didn't really get a chance to play much VF5US due to it being console exclusive when I almost always play fighting games on PC, so this is really cool. Can't wait to play it and actually start learning VF. In the meantime I guess I'll get back into VF3tb on Fightcade, that's my comfort game.

What I’m also curious about the most is the balance changes. Will it just be a few move changes or an entire list of changes. That would be super refreshing, like a legitimately new update.

Revo is just the version that we should have had three years ago, well... I'll take it anyway... I hope that Sega will shake up the game a little and that it won't be just "nerf-Taka-Akira-Jacky-Lion -buff-Eileen-Aoi". Hoping that this is not the new game and that vf6 is well being prepared...

I'm hoping they nerf some character moves that are hard to avoid. If anyone knows what I'm referring to, such as Vanessa's 2 hit kicks that I noticed players spam at times. I don't think I can sidestep in either direction without being hit.
