Aoi still has her old [6][P][P], the other one with the high followup is something new.

Kage loses old [K]+[G], the one in the clip was [3][K][P]. [K]+[G] is his new high full circular kick that leaves the opponent side turned.

The attack clash really gives advantage to the player in frame advantage, and protects them from the reverse nitaku game. Not sure if that is what you were saying, but I got the idea that you were saying it protects throwing as a reverse nitaku choice. Guess that might work as well, we'll have to see the frames to really understand how it works.

    Yay for Vane!

A: She's succeeded in balancing the right amount of butchness, hotness, and blackness. Let's face it, I pick Vanessa because I like dating a girl that kicks me in the nuts on a first date, proclaiming 'You're not a worthy opponent!'

B: She stole Steve Fox's (the boxer from tekken) jumping dashing punch thingie, has a cool looking jumping knee now. I wanna see takedowns!!!

C: She's got a blackalicious, sexy new outfit with a zipper in the front, and no visible bra. Hopefully on the VF.net machines the height of the zipper can be customized. Don't wanna pull a Janet Jackson!! I can see Jacky now, with his PG throw. Oops!

Nah, dude, the new one that slams on the 2nd hit is new, but that move he is talking about looks like 6pp to me as well. Happens at 1:32 in KAvsAO.wmv.

That move looks like a new follow up to [4][3][P]+[K]

Edit: I just looked some stuff up. Her rising [P]+[K] is now changed to [2_][3][P]+[K] with a [P] follow up for a mid high string. It might be that move. It's hard to tell if [6][P]+[K][P] or [6][P][P] is changed to mid high. You might be right ice-9 that [6][P][P] is changed.

The Aurora stage could also be Brads. In the background you can see roman aqueducts cutting across the background. So that makes Sarah the rooftop party stage. With sarahs 3p costume it sort of make sense. But who really knows /versus/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Is Vanessa meant to be black or Latin American? For whatever reason I keep thinking she's from Brazil...but I'm probably just getting mixed up with her Vale Tudo background.

Regardless she looks pretty hot in VF5. Kinda embarrassed to say this, but all the girls in VF5 look pretty hot (except maybe Eileen) though in a classy way.

Didn't someone say that her data on-disc is organized under "Black" instead of a name like the other characters?

I know little is know thus far about this game, but I have observed that juggles/combos seemed to be 2nd, while poking/throws/oki seem to be the main priority. Just me.

    Anyone else seeing this too?

Probably because no one knows the combos yet....

was just wondering what tare the impressions of pai, i noticed more moves from her bokutai, plus she has a new knee that goes into a string.
She seems speedy as ever but her swallow seems slower. Can she still use her [6] [4], + [G][P] throw followed by swallow as ive seen the swallow blocked

I like the Sith Lords avatar picture. He should also post it on a Star Wars site, if he hasn't allready. The reason for this is the world knows Star Wars, but they don't know Virtua Fighter as well as they should.

The new videos are really awesome. I like how each section of the background looks different from the other on a good variety of stages. Certain affects like the tree shadow on Aoi's stage, the rolling fog at knee level on Lei Fei stage, water splashing on knockdown with Shun-Di's stage (anyone ever put a sprinkler under a trampoline when they were a kid), and not to forget the best lighting effects in a game ever all blow my mind.

Keep up all the goodwork on the videos and any other cool stuff related to the game like T-Shirts, if there are any.

Lower floats in general though (I think vf is moving in this way). Srider - you decided on playing/giving Eileen a go hardcore?

Was it my imagination, or did [pe] escape a back throw at about 58 seconds into Pe_Buru? I think I remember hearing about something like this in early versions of VF4, funny to see it in 5.

It's not escaped, it clashed. Throws are slower so it's not guaranteed anymore after 1K+G.

I thought throws were back to 8 frames for this test.

last night I talked for a while with my frined Tetsuya, who's been playing the location test in Shibuya, some random info he gave me. Just his impressions, I can't say for sure if everything is 100% true:

Basically, he said people feel that while this game is more or less VF4, eventually fully understanding the new Offensive and Defensive Escape systems will have a "big change" on the gameplay. I got the impression people still don't know how to use the Offensive Escape, and he said it's weak to canned combos. He said Mukki Akira is spending a lot of time trying to understand the OE in Shinjuku, and that Masked Hijitetsu came to Shibuya and used a new kind of step he created with Jacky using the new Escape system. Tetsuya said Hijitetsu's step is really strange and confusing, and mixes backdashing w/ the new escapes. Tetsuya also said he's lost to Kofu Megane so many times /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif....

Said Lau and Jacky are too strong in this test, and that many people are abusing Lau's new 2-hit jumping kick (see Aoi/Lau clip on rooftop stage w/ Kofu Megane's Aoi to see the kick), which is really strong, Said people have won matches using just this kick, which I think leaves Lau back turned? He claims even beginners can win basically by mashing w/ Lau and Jacky against slower or power-type characters (this kind of thing is pretty normal for a new version of VF).

Many people are just playing cheap, and there's a lot of long-range fighting happening, because the test is too expensive. Said Wolf has a new shoulder attack which is good against machi players, [6][6]+[P]+[K], and works well against the wall.

Both Wolf and El Blaze can run away from the oppt, and when hitting a wall, will bounce off and head back towards oppt, like a pro wrestler bouncing off the ropes.

counter [P] -> Throw is no longer guaranteed

Akira seems weak initially, and no one's playing him (I also found this to be true when I was in Japan in March for FT, I encountered maybe 1 or 2 people who used Aki as a sub, but mainly Jacky, Kage and Wolf). Akira's new throw [6]+[P]+[G] looks cool, [4][6]+[P]+[K]+[G] was changed to the double handed strike shown in some clips that turns people around. The new Knee -> Double Fist to head canned combo shown in some clips is [6]+[K], [P].

That's all I can remember, I'll talk to him again in a week or so

This is definitely a sign of the game being new. A few of us had some lengthy conversations about the state of VF and VF5 recently, we basically came to more or less a similar conclusion. Personally, I think the game will be alot different play style wise once the final version is out. I heard there is going to be a new version to be released soon, in time for Golden Week. We'll see what kinds of changes they make.

I think once the new version hits, it will be very close to what the final version will be. I'll start some VF5 system threads once info starts to come in around mid May or so.
