Put the 3 recent games from the site on my webserv as you'll be getting a better transferrate from me vs painfully slow from the site. They're all lion matches and won't be up for long so snatch'em now ~~

The Jeffry vs Wolf match was an unsophisticated yet entertaining match, If onIy for the details. I'm just in awe of the lighting on the characters and the texture of their skin. Also, has anyone noticed that the latest batch of clips hasn’t had the "Location Test" caption at the bottom? Does this mean we're now seeing the finished game or Ver. A? At least unofficially?

A bit of VF trivia: I believe that the rundown dojo is Goh's stage. If so then throughout the VF series Sarah Bryant, who was once a member of J6, has almost consistently had a stage that featured a lightning storm (VF 2, 4, EVO) and or a theme tune that contained some wailing in the background (VF 1,2, EVO & FT).

With Goh Hinogami as J6’s sole agent in the series now I find it amusing that Sega have added this subtle trend. Hell, why can’t they just bite the bullet and make CG endings like almost every other fighting game these days?

A heated match, it could have gone either way really. Though that [4][K]+[G] > hit throw of Kage's is mean...guaranteed on hit or block? That's harsh. I can only imagine the defeats I'll endure via the abuse of that string. /versus/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I liked Jacky's new shuffle attack animations and Kage's new stance looks just as slick as his other moves. Also, the stage they were fighting in, it's Dural's right? So far this is the thrid time I've seen it, once at night (Wolf vs Lion), another in the daytime (Goh vs Jeffry) and now this one at sunset.

It would be interesting if Sega included multiple versions of each stage (time and season based) rather than apply a new texture with each version upgrade. They've gone to great lengths to revamp the games look, would that be asking too much?

This is the same filebank link that Kiwe shared the first three Lion videos from. To download from filebank you need to install the Active-X control (doesn't work for some browsers).

To those who are saying that the music seems to have been changed, I agree with you. I finished up0047 and it does indeed sound rearranged.

Hmm yea, I was trying to look closely at that throw of Kage's. Does seem to be on both occasions. I hope they change it to one of the other. It's gonna be a very annoying TR catcher or combo ender.

watching the recent kage and lion clips makes me wonder why bother with leifei at all. As noted before - the generalization of all characters is a bad move by sega.

I completely agree. I don't mind them gaving for example Akira more smaller & jabber moves but if they for example ever gave him a ppp move or a full-circular I'll vomit. Since there are styles that obviously have certain principles they would never have certain techniques. Sega was making a effort that every character & moves are unique to their own style but now i see in VF5 everyone basically has a full-circular back round-house kick to the head they over generalizing things. If those kicks for every character have different porperties that's fine. Oh yeah on last one Shun having a flip kick like Pai, don't think so. :p

I hope AM2 isn't generalizing character's movelist for balance b/c it's no question that's the wrong route to take.

My theory is that those circular type kicks give everyone an opportunity to turn opponents to the side. So in the same way everyone gets a dodge attack, offensive move evade, etc. I.e., characters are generalized so everyone can take advantage of the new system. This is just my guess.

Kage's [4][K]+[G] can definitely catch on both block and hit--you can tell by the different damage it inflicts. I think the hit -> throw damage is a little too much, but should be easy to tone down. Then again, the move was really useless in VF4 so I'm glad it finally has some utility now. To compensate it seems that the distance of his [9][P]+[G] has been nerfed.

Kage's TFT damage has also been toned down a lot. So far TFT -> knee -> [P] -> [2][P]+[K] -> flipkick or twin uppercuts seem like his best bets and take off ~70 points.

I really like how Jacky has that option to step to the side...I hope there's more of that kind of stuff in VF5.

its not that, its just that the uniqeness of certain characters are starting to dissapear. Leifeis was the ability to shift into stances through input as well as various attack cancels, kage now seems to partially there. Also not really to pick on kage, but you just mentioned it [4][K]+[G] hit block throw; really seemed something unique to goh, but not anymore. Lions new other ducking stance reminds me of pais version of bokutai. Jackys sidestepping ability seems like something he copped from Aoi as well. I guess another reason that VF5 looks like VF4.5 is that characters havent really gained new moves and properties at all, just a lot of slightly modified preexisting ones.

Btw, they really need to fix that shun stance attack animation, theres like 15 frames of animation missing in those attacks.

Ptdh; Didn't you just make a thread where you complained about Lei Fei's lack of fundamentals? (No dissing)

I don't agree with this uniqeness of characters statetment at all, if anything I feel that the different styles of the characters are much more touchable then ever, first visually by simple things like the different 2p's (Lau's for instance), blocking and evade animation and then by how certain characters have been deepened (Kage, Brad, Lei, Sarah, Wolf, Van). To me Kage's new stance and the use of it doesn't remind me of Lei at all but fits him well; giving him a tone of aggression as well which is a good thing.

Btw; I can't understand how people still claim that the characters "haven't really gained new moves" either. That was something that was passed around in the beginning of VF5's loctest - it's certainly not the case anymore... They've gained a ton. Just looking at the Lei vs Lei demo where they ran through new moves and cancels was jawdropping.
All are not put into system yet cause of it being a loctest etc, hell not everyone knows or bothers to use them and many moves won't be used for a long time. Look at just Van's list (and besides that this latest loctest seemed to add more moves that aren't on that site!~~):

On a personal note; VF4 was never hard tiered but if anything there were bad matchups. These came due to certain characters having holes in their game (like Lei vs Aki byakko which you know) that others could exploit hard. If they plug these holes I don't see it as a problem at all but something positive. Characters can have their holes plugged and still have strengths in different areas; one doesn't exclude the other. I 'm certain that when looking back after playing VF5 for a while on VF4 the characters will feel incomplete and less interesting.

OT; Why the fuck hasn't any of you JP reading lazy bastards translated the http://www.geocities.jp/lettuce1781/ site or atleast some part of it? This is virtuafighter.com right?

Lei, hasnt really gained more moves, but rather more old moves that can cancel into stance, likewise same with kage. Also imagine how a Goh player would feel after seeing kages [4][K]+[G], the goh players here are pretty much saying bullshit. Instead of saying "Oh thats cool", you say oh man they took that from Goh. Jackys jab jab elbow sidestep is very FT aoi. It just makes you wonder why half the effort put into jacky and kages "new" set of moves isnt put into Goh. Even Akira is suprisingly really lacking in VF5.

Its just the uniqueness of characters is starting to get lost in VF. Even though its just location test still, the thought process is heading in the wrong direction.

I Ilke Kage's new stance which is really fitting for him but that round-house kick hit throw is just a rip off of Goh.

Personally AM2 needs to get off Kage's dick. MOfos has everything, you might as well label that fucker Dural.
