I thought this argument was well done and over with when FT was coming out. I remember people like Shang who made comparisons to Wolf's PGS like GLC did, and imo, that would be a very fair and realistic adjustment for the TFT. Dmg wise and RO potential wise, they are pretty similar, so it makes sense.

I think Kage should be armed with an automatic weapon.

I personally wouldn't object to the move being killed, or at least moved. TFT is waaay overpowered, especially for a ninja to have. As we all know, TFT can get a ring-out over walls that aren't full-blown cages (not to mention all the other options if gives). If anybody should be able to do that it should be Wolf, who is a wrestler and thus a character who is supposed to have the best and most damaging throws. For a ninja to have the best throw in a game with wrestlers and grapplers in it is ridiculous.

TFT is so overpowered that it increases the success rate of Kage's other throws. Whenever you play him, you have to enter the TFT escape command everytime you escape, even if you suspect that your opponent will use a different throw. Because the because the reward is so high if he completes TFT, you have to guard against if first. That makes his other thrown a tad more likely to succeed.

TFT should be moved from Kage's move list. While Wolf and Jeffrey should each pick up a throw with very similar properties.

Well, I feel GLC's notion of TFT being like PGS to be a good solution. Granted in the sense that if they really wanted to change it - otherwise I honestly don't have any qaulms about it.

It also makes the entire universe explode every time you land it. Dude, that is the role of every character's most powerful throw.

You mean PGS and Splash Mountain? Throws that do a lot of damage? Is that the property?

I think having a PTFT input would be fine.

Well, PGS and Splash mountain both do not have the same RO potential as TFT (over walls), especially splash mountain. Also, when you escape wolf's [6] direction, you are escaping two high dmg throws, not so in Kage's case.

I say let Kage keep TFT, but nerf the dragon punch combo. Maybe lessen the damage potential of [3][P] just a teensy bit, which seems like Sega is doing for VF5. This means Kage would need the TFT to inflict really big damage at any given one time.

The property I was thinking of is the ability to cause your opponent to ring-out over walls.

A lot of moves have RO over short walls...the thing is, except from small rings, you have to be within a few feet of a high wall to be R.O...and you should be buffering in your throw escapes in that situation...what I could see is make the timing for the hits more important, or make the person fly more vertically and less horizontal.

I'm not too thrilled about those new low-walled VF5 stages. They seem a bit too small when you consider the TFT factor, but otherwise I don't really have a problem with the move. It's still very early in the game, so maybe things will change.

The low-walled stages seem very Tekken-ish to me... Only you can't ring people out in TK. Everything else is the same!

In the game, everyone has the normal evade that's done in VF4. However, everyone now has a sway step... kind of. Basically, you press u/f or d/f and P+K+G and you'll sway to one side of your opponent. This allows you to avoid attacks but it also works well after you've staggered an opponent and you want to set them up for a ring out or a wall combo. People who play Lion will adapt to this easily since he already had this command in VF4. I guess AM2 liked it so much that they incorporated it into every character.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's kind of dissapointing to me. I really liked that aspect of Lion's game and it made his style even more unique. I really wish they hadn't done that. But what do I know? Im a scrub at VF =)

On the plus side I really like that they are really adding style to a lot of the characters, the game is really looking to be coming alive with personality, which is obviously something that a lot of casual players had a lot to say about.

Stumbled across this over at tz. This local guy says he's a games tester and has been testing VF5. I'm hoping to meet up with him when I can.

Mate not sure how interested you are but I had the privelidge of privately testing out that game for a week at sega studios! and I'm telling you it is downright going to be the best 3D fighter out EVER. Absolutley gorgeous graphics with a nice smooth animation. There is this new side animation thing going on where you can attack and defend sides better unlike before where they would go back to a face on position. There is a new movement avaliable to all characters where you can easily get around your opponent it goes D,F or U,F +P+K+G and in some circumstances it can cancel your opponents defence which is kind of confusing at the moment but will be analysed better once the game comes out. There are some awesome new level designs and all characters from the previous installment are there, I also had full access to the new characters and to tell you some don't quite fit the VF style so I don't really know how fans will react to it, but personally I like the fresh faces, they adds a new dimension to the game. There are cards that can be purchased with many customises for your chatacters with some fancy cool things I hear but I didn't see too many. But what made this game downright great was the screens that we were playing on. They were HIGH DEF FLAT SCREENS!!!!! I crapped myself when I walked into the room and saw it. It felt like I was at the movies, it was just awesome. But the only downside to that is after 10-20 minutes starring at the screen your vision blurs up and you can kiss your eyesight goodbye. When I get the permision I will be happy to give you guys all the info about the game as there are still a few minor glitches which need to be fixed and new characters need a bit more balancing out....Plus a few more surprises....hehe. But all in all this is going to be huge. Its just a damn shame sydney doesn't have a strong VF community similar to that of tekken. But I suggest anyone interested to pick it up when it comes out on console because I don't think it will make an appearance here in arcades....from what I have been told?

    VF5 OWNS T5

Read further into the thread to hear what he says about his job as a games tester. All sounds rather interesting.
