Mmm, that's not always true, actually. Just at the top of my head I can think of KoF12 and Vanquish both coming out in under 6 months of being announced.

It's not common, but does happen.

I think, but can't be sure, that L_A is talking specifically about how Sega handles VF.

Since it's to be an xbl download (supposedly), wouldn't that make the "release" date shorter??? There's no need to worry about wasting money on burning DVDs or labeling, which hopefully will allow them more time to work on things like marketing, DLC, etc...

I mean Capcom has shortened the release window for MvC3 and they have more characters, stages and other things to deal with...

Nah there's a bunch of hoops you have to go through if you're DLC too.

One thing that Sega will benefit from making FS DLC is more sales than VF5 just because people won't be able to sell their used copies the way that they do with discs.
If Sega would make revenue everytime somebody bought VF, VF5 wouldn't have tanked.
So many people have bought and re-sold used copies of VF that it's not even funny.

As far as I know (this is all my humble opinion, I'm no expert) Sega makes an extremely small amount of money from used copies of VF being re-sold... I mean, my guess is that stores like GameStop give Sega some of that revenue but since old VF games usually sell for anywhere from $4 to $15 dollars, I don't see how they could be making a good profit from used VF games sales.

You can't return DLC, that's another advantage.
Sega will prob do like Capcom did and charge for different outfits and such. Lmao @Capcom charging for different colored outfits. Genius [IMG]

Yeah it would've been nice to be able to equip items to your character in SF, like in Dungeon Fighter, instead of buying a whole outfit... Or just unlock items in SF period... That would probably make me play the game more...

    VF3 Vanilla Arcade - September 1996
    VF3TB Arcade - September 1997
    VF3TB Console - November 1998

    VF4 Vanilla Arcade - August 2001
    VF4 Vanilla Console - February 2002
    VF4EVO Arcade - August 2002
    VF4EVO Console - March 2003
    VF4FT Arcade - June 2004

    VF5 Vanilla Arcade - July 2006
    VF5 Console (PS3) - February 2007
    VF5R Arcade - July 2008
    VF5FS Arcade - July 2010

VF3 Vanilla, 4FT, and 5R, did not get home ports for consoles. 5FS is still possible for home port but very unlikely given Sega's financial predicament and the ever growing number of FGs being ported to consoles that 5FS would have to compete with.

By the way Capcom announced 3S: Online already and that game is a long way off. And there are other FGs for XBL/PSN that were announced with lots of flair (MvC2, HDR, T5DRO). I know some people here are hoping for a DLC release of 5FS but Sega would have announced it at E3 or even TGS in my opinion.

3S is years years years old. Announcing that isn't intruding on a thing, and with ports already in place, it's like touching it up for some extra cash.

VF5:FS just came out recently in arcades.

Apparently TTT2, Tekken vs SF and SF vs Tekken are all part of a fighting festival. Sega was not invited to the party. LOL

And there goes Sega's window of opportunity once more. TT2 will be released summer 2011 so all the tekkenheadz that would've played FS cause they hate T6 will now never arrive over to VF.

    Fucking Sega.

Tekken 6 was down right awful and I was previously a HUGE Tekken fan. Started with Tekken 2 on PS1 and liked them up until Tekken Tag 9which was awesome).

I'll check out TTT2 if it's not as awful as 6, they need to go back to the earlier play mechanics of TT and T2 imo.

I still hope FS comes to consoles but i'm not holding my breath. Sega has no honor.
