Not a party pooper but im a concerned VF5 fiend at this point. Now i can't take it anymore. I don't wanna be teased and i hope it picks up so that i can be released stateside.

I Dig It heavy. I agree with your disagree lol!!

Now is the time for a miracle. I waited Patienly for R for 2 years and it never came. I see FS and how it seems no one care in japan so why would we have to suffer again? Oh Well....Its like the Battered wife syndrome.

Might as well wait for Virtua Fighter 6, maybe around 2014.

FS seems more interesting than R did. and my main (brad) got some MAJOR improvements IMO. woot!
also I don't think they will release FS for consoles until version C or B comes out.

Well the throws are a very nuanced thing in VF. You might say they add character to the, well, characters . I'm interested to see how the throw movelist works out, with df P+G and 2 P+G no longer an option for standing throws.

Fuudo had this to say on the FS article about tiers:

Fuudo:Characters with good low tech moves (ed note: not sure on this) and guard crushes are definitely top class. And the reward that you get from a crush is pretty big. The loss of throws from the down-back, down and down-forward directions really hurts those characters who rely on their mid-hitting moves (i.e. Lei-fei, etc.)

Well that's not surprising . Didn't see a crystal ball to see that one coming. Whatev .
I think most of the people not so upset about the move changes arent throw centric players to begin with. Notice how Lau is S rank. Im excited about the other things, like new stances, new moves , etc , so I'll try to look at the glass 3/4 full , instead of 1/4 empty , because overall, VF5 FS positives outweigh the negatives . Just bring it to U.S. consoles, and we'll call it even.

i noticed kage's high p is +3 on block while jacky's is +2. wouldnt +3 high p mean p, 6p is uninterruptible? or did they mess with frames more? most high p are 11 and elbow is still 14 right?

Pai has a 12 frame mid that knocks down on CH. They've really screwed with the formula from the looks of it.

    Seems really interesting though.

I think that VFFS looks pretty good. There are a few things I do and don't like. The throws...I'm still up in the air. It's a 33% chance to break a throw which is good, but at the same time your throws are limited. Maybe it removes a bit of the depth? Not sure, I mean have to play to find out. The breakaway wall is really nice except the fact that it can only be done at the end of the round and only with a move that breaks walls. To me....you should be able to do it at anytime to keep people playing more aggressive instead of being backed into the corner. Hopefully it comes to console that would be awesome.

QUICK QUESTION: If Final Showdown failed in the arcades wouldn't they have to port to consoles in order to make a profit or would they just abandon the series?

She got that in R, it's special mid so it's not too OP.

In R it was only -6 on block and CD fuzzy was just as safe as normal fuzzy. +2 on hit as well. I think the only thing that stops it being an insane move is the short range. In the arcadia mag R moves list the move also has some extra notes ( [3][P]+[K] command). Does anyone know what the extra info is?

The sales for VF on console aren't as big as other fighting series like Tekken and Street Fighter which are the most popular. So it's really iffy, even though they would have guaranteed sales from people that are VF fans. Heck I would of bought R and FS.

Don't misunderstand. Backtracking aside, there is no point worrying and all that. Just play Vanilla and all will be well. Believe in L_A. He's probably onto something. Glimmer is better than nothing.

    No troll haha

I'd love to be wrong this time, but I do have a bad feeling that unless FS is a monster arcade hit, Sega is going to disappoint console fans again.

it's not coming out on consoles. the online community is pretty horrible as it is. i logged and and there was not one person playing online for like 2 hours. Sega is not going to waste their money.

Its a relatively old game and a lot of people have walked away from VF for the time being as they don't want to play an obsolete game. The current state of online play has nothing to do with anything. If you want matches try the shoutbox, but I wouldn't expect people to sit watching that screen waiting for people to join.

Also, if there was a quick match option like in Tekken or proper lobbies, there would probably be more people playing.

Kage's [P] is actually +2 on block just like everyone else. What you saw there was the move being used at max range so it hit with the later active frames, making it recover sooner and therefore give more advantage.

+3 on block would make [P], [6][P] uninterruptable, yes. Thing is now that they changed the frames of [P] and almost everyone has 12f jabs apart from Kage, Lion and 1 or 2 other characters?

Kage, Lion, Pai and Eileen. The characters whose [P] strikes with the fingers rather than the fist I think.

Nice observation Hazz! I completely didn't realize that was the reason for the +3...

    Max range baby!

Meh. It's not in the TGS lineup.

I don't care what anyone says: VF is still a brand worthy of being showcased in a lineup of games for show.

That's all there is to it then. No console release until maybe VF6. Maybe. And I'll bet we'll see a Soul Calibur V before that even happens. IF it happens at all.

You know what, I am pissed. Sega releases Alpha Protocol the most FAILED game but not an updated Virtua Fighter 5. That is it. Don't ban me for this but I am not going to say it. Jessica Alba is
