So much talk about a simplified VF equating to a shitty VF.

VF was best (and the most successful both critically and financially) when it was simple-ish: VF2.

VF doesn't need to be overly-complex to be deep or fun. As long as it allows people to be creative within a non-random system, allows them to out-think each other, while still rewarding skill acquired through practice, then it's a VF game.

If this helps bring in some new players, then that would be awesome.

Its good that people are expressing their opinions on this revision, best to be completely vocal about it, but no one should end up disregarding the game as who knows what AM2 will do with it once they receive some feedback [IMG]

I'd love for it to be the best game it can be, so i wonder where they will take it in the future. But all i know is, that I'm excited, but since i can only play this with a console release, I'm trying my hardest not to be so overly excited :p

You have a short attention span dude. Remember R? Remember how much fun it was waiting to hear what they'd do about that, then they give us FS. They'll prob announce VF6 before we hear any plans for FS.

im pretty sure someone already asked this question, but is FS going to be another one of sega's "For Rent" stations like R was? meaning they won't allow imports or personal buys?

Virtua Fighter 5 doesn't suck. It is the company that makes people wait for false hopes of bring a game to consoles. Even Tekken fanboys know that there will be another Tekken. Virtua Fighter just for an update people have to write petitions and Sega still ignores them? Sega wastes they money on lame games like Iron Man and Phantasy Star. I tried to believe but nothing is happening people. All Sega is doing is taunting the living hell out of people who really want it. I am sick of waiting but Capcom is the same as Sega. I am still waiting on MML3(Megaman Legends 3). Game companies either produce or go out of business period.

They still got Tekken 6, on X360/PS3 and PSP... And arcade versions of the game were in the states as well... No "renting only in Japan" going on there... Same with SF4 and soon SSF4...

Phantasy Star is more popular than Virtua Fighter last I checked. Someone prove me wrong.

Capcom is totally different from Sega, man... Last I checked, no rep from Sega was at E3, or Comicon talking about Virtua Fighter 5 FS. I'm pretty sure there were more fans of the game there talking about it amongst themselves, wondering if the game was even going to be mentioned. You've got Ono-san, and Seth Killian out there talking to fans, outside of Japan. They're even working with Harada-san with the whole SFxT/TxSF games (since Sega is to proud to do a VFxT/TxVF. They're doing 2 big things Sega isn't right now: Promotion and Collaboration. We know it, they know it, and for their sake they better get with the program. The ball is in Sega's court.

Megaman Legends, while is a good game, isn't what the Megaman fans wanted it seems. I loved the MML series personally, and still play it from time to time. In fact, I'm glad they put that Megaman in TvC (I'm thinking about buying it soon tbh). You're probably gonna see something like Megaman 11 or some NDS version of Megaman before you'll see a new MML.

I hope Capcom eventually brings forth the X series for XBL/PSN

From the Comicon trailer, it looks like it will come out for both systems. I actually wish that Sega decided to jump in the fray with Namco when they brought the idea up originally. There were tons of people that were hyped about SFxT/TxSF and it peaked the curiousity of alot of people. Either way, Sega doesn't have anything on the table, and if they do, it needs to have some serious weight in comparison to what VF is up against.

If you were talking about Megaman X, then I'm not even sure if that will happen... But who knows...

Tekken needs a new bandwagon to copy(Its been dick riding VF for ideas for years now). 10 dollars say tekken 7 is going to play like the vf joke trailer.

@jinxhand, Phantasy Star is more popular than Virtua Fighter? Really? So what makes Phantasy Star more popular that Virtua Fighter? Please do tell.

^ First off, it's not a fighter. And it really is more popular. There's nothing wrong with that, though.

Aside from the sales comparison, there are more formats to play Phantasy Star on (from DC, GC, X360, PS2, NDS, PC). Phantasy Star as a series started way before Virtua Fighter did. But just on the PSO aspect, the fanbase is simply higher than VFs. Even on gamefaqs the numbers simply just don't compare:

You will be surprised on how high retro gaming is. I'm made at sonic 4. It's like SEGA decided to move two steps back. But if they release final showdown all will be forgiven.

People love retro. Think about it, Tekken could have beefed up the system they had with T4, but they decided to go back to their roots a bit with T5 by having infinite stages, and flat stages. The only addon with that was the walls and some stuns, but the classic gameplay stayed relatively the same. Sonic Adventure was a classic game, but people wanted a true successor to Sonic 3 (in this case Sonic 4). Super Mario is the same way - they made the game with the classic gameplay, but added a twist (i.e. - 4 players on screen, axis changing, etc). Best example of retro still is ST. People have been playing that since day 1.

This applies to more than games, too... Think about fashion styles that have returned. Even better (or worse), think of the movies that were based on old school tv shows/books/comics (Transformers, A-Team, etc).
