That would work in a special versus kind of way.

When the character select screen comes up, and you choose Floyd, you get to pick who your opponent's going to be.

Anybody know who's working on the strategy guide for VF5FS,
or if there will be one?

How close to release does the publisher start working on the strategy guides? anybody know?

When FS drops I'll make a note of all the items in quest mode when I go through it. What they are, how you get them, how many points they cost and so forth.

I remember there being a list for vanilla 5 but it got taken down and now there is no such list. Also, "Does character X have Y" gets asked every now and then so I think it would be useful to have even if it is stupid.

If the items aren't in a guide somewhere then I won't bother.

No news on a guide yet, but wait until the game gets announced for consoles, and gets an arcade release date at least.

The things to worry about getting, at least for competitive purposes, will be the articles that Arcadia will end up doing on 5FS. Because FS is the definitive version of VF5, Arcadia will no doubt do some very in depth and advanced looks at option selects, complex mechanics, and a possible thorough analysis of any system changes. An important thing for VFDC is getting someone to translate whatever Arcadia has about VF5FS and keep clean records for the community to use.

I think a Tai Chi fighter would be most interesting. Similar to the character in Shenmue 2.

A silat character would be cool too.

Is it possible that VF5FS will be a console only release [IMG]

If it goes to arcade 1rst, doesn't that mean it will be years b4 we see it on console (IF WE SEE IT) [IMG]

I just have Zero confidence in Sega. For us PS3 users

we have Version B of VF5 with no online. It was released in
2007, Sega didn't even keep us on par with the Xbox version of
VF 5 and they've had 3 years to do it.

Y is it, that most of the other game publishers can give their fans some idea about new games coming down the pike, and Sega is sworn to secrecy [IMG]

if VF5FS is coming out for the consoles around Christmas 2010 then how will Sega make money on the arcade version [IMG] If VF5FS is coming in May 2011 then how will Sega make money on the arcade version [IMG]

Well Kamaage said that it'll see an Arcade release in August or September.

I reckon if we get a console release it will be at the end of the year or near the start of next year. Then when VF6 comes out we'll have to wait a year or so to get our hands on it. Then when we do VF6: *insert word or letter here* will come out over there.

No and No. The 1st will simply not happen, the 2nd isn't necessarily true.

Yea, I guess there was less than a year between the release of VF 5 in the arcades and the console version right?

But what worries me, is the last time the word 'final' was in the title of a VF game (virtua fighter final tuned) we didn't get a console version [IMG] I hope virtua fighter final showdown
    will be different [IMG]

I just did a quick dirty move of "what martial arts I want to see discussion" to the one already in the general forum.

If you have a wish list of things you want in the next version of VF, there are a few threads already in the console forums.

Most likely when there is actual new information besides bad rumors, solid rumors, and what else, there will be a new thread of sorts.

I would honestly wait for E3 before getting excited.

I would imagine all major announcements would be made there, and even then, VF is only really popular in Japan.

I hope Sega brings this game to the console. Sega doesn't have too many high profile games left, so they should market the hell out of this game and bring it to the fore front of fighters. If they play their cards right, this game has the potential to be big. Its fun for casuals, fun for experts and if hey stop thinking only in terms of arcades, this game could be massive in the online gaming market. A 3D fighter to challenge Super Street Fighter 4 would be great and a very solid niche. SC4 didn't do to well online wise, and if they play their cards right, VF could be the next big online fighter.

    Oh wait...this is Sega.

    RIP VF....

I think when (I'm not going to be pessimistic) VF5FS comes out- they need to market up the customization, easy controls, and the online as the main points.

Note: yeah VF has some hard execution, but if you tell casuals it's easy they'll believe it- look at SF4.

Casuals don't care about gameplay until they desire to learn it. Just make it fun for them.

I didn't start playing VF until 5. Scratch that. I avoided VF until 5. The constant "most deep and technical fighter ever created" rhetoric gave me the impression that VF was less like a game and more like calculus class. I picked up VF5 on a whim and found that it was not only accessible, but more importantly, instantly enjoyable right out of the box. I think that's what casuals and people on the fence need to be told, the truth.

The reason I never really played VF until VF5 was that when I tried the game it always felt very slow and, for want of a better word, clunky.

The only reason I got VF5 was that I really enjoyed the VF5 demo on Xbox Live. I enjoyed the demo because it just felt so different to what I had been experiencing up until that point which was pretty much just random 2D fighters, DOA and Tekken.

I liked that I was actualy able to evade moves in VF.

I can definitely vibe with all of that. While I didn't "get into" VF until 5, I had tried the first two. I tried VF1 when I was living in Wales and had taken one of my many trips to London. I had played VF1 at the Trocadero arcade (I think that's what it was called) and was immediately turned off by the ridiculous moon jumps. Later, I saw VF2 in an arcade near my hometown, popped in a quarter (those were the days) and took control of a character that felt like it was made of stone walking through mud.

As far as the evading goes, I am totally with you on that. VF5's evasion system definitely makes the most sense to me too.
