People assume is going to be PS3 exclusive due to the fact it sold like crap on the 360 compared to the PS3(The console was 600$ at the time)I doubt SEGA would do such a thing, especially this day in age in gaming. The PSN is on par with XBL when it comes to match making, so kill that nosie. You know what, just for your sake, I hope VF5FS comes out for PS3 only :p

I have a PS3 and a 360 so it doesn't bother me if it is an exclusive title. I prefer Xbox Live to playstation network though.

Also, if it was on the PS3 I'd probably have to learn to play on a stick as I'm now way more used to using the 360 pad as opposed to the Playstation pad.

Who on earth would pay for exclusivity for VF5...
If it gets ported it will be on both consoles.

I wasn't expecting any good results when I tried it [IMG] . It was just laying there once, when I was at my firend's place while we were playing MS, and I was just "Wow, I need to see how bad it's going to be..."

I didn't get to try it with a fighting game because my friend doesn't really like those. Why does he have a fighting stick if he doesn't like fighting games? Beats the hell out of me [IMG] ...

I seriously doubt there's going to be any platform exclusivity, particularily since multi-platform has already been established for VF.

I think he meant that it may be exclusive to Japanese arcades which is a very real possibility.

It does seem unlikely, but in the US market it does seem like many hearts and minds are still there to be won for either format.

Possibly; it all depends on the AM2/Sega technology choices and how well they now align to each platform and which game we actually get (VF5R or VF5FS); if any.

As far as I know the VF5FS hardware requirements haven't been reported yet; and though we all assume it will be consistent with VF5R, if it isn't then porting options for VF5FS might be removed in this generation, or only viable on one of the two platforms; depending on whether the game is general purpose processing or stream processing heavy.

It is interesting how the Zelda Windwaker styled cloud animation in the video of VF5FS made its' way in; maybe toon shading or selective toon shading will feature in the latest and greatest installment of VF; I would certainly like that, as it should also make it easier for them to produce back story videos for the home market.

I'm actually hoping we get a highend port of VF5R prior to the release VF5FS in arcades, ideally with an 6month window where we actually caught up. Followed by a port of VF5FS 12months from then, when it has been balanced.

But a £20 DLC dojo/training upgrade for VF5 would still probably be enough, with PS3 online, if they are going to give us VF5FS in 18months.

yeah, until sega shuts down the servers three months after the game comes out.

sega found a way to fuck up a service based entirely on p2p, what makes you think they wouldn't drop the ball with their own service? i know you played dreamcast games online man; it'd end up being the same thing.

if vf4:ft is anything to go by, when am2 says final they mean final. that game didn't get a single revision and people still say it's the best vf game.

VF Final tuned got two versions A and B. However there seems to be a version called G... I have no idea what changes were made in G though.. unless they were just game related issues and not balance. I don't think any changes were mentioned beyond version B so..

quash, where'd you hear that VF had its own servers? The versus games themselves are peer to peer for sure. Most games on XBL are peer to peer.

[Tricky] The game is called VF5FS there is no OR that's what it's called. Calling it VF5R is just plain wrong.

[Shunjinkogh] I meant this because this might replace VF5R when VF5R was supposed to come out. Weird joke I know. :p

i was talking about chromehounds (i linked to the game's site), which was a game on xbl with dedicated servers ran by sega.

the problem with psn (well, at least in one regard) is that publishers/developers have to provide dedicated servers in order for their games to be played online. sega is not reliable with this; look at the number of dreamcast games that came and went, and the numerous games on other platforms after the fact.

Matchmaking most propably works with its own servers guys... The match itself is p2p. I would be extremely surprised if all fighting games online didnt do it like that.

In response to the people saying one systems online is better than the other: Its a double edged sword. 360 has been quoted as having a "better" online community but in my experience more people does not mean better, it usually means worse. I have a PS3 and 360 both of which were bought on the day that VF5 dropped for each respective console. I will say that on alot of games on PS3 online play the lag is more visibly present for sure but the level of stupidity and immaturity that you find on 99 percent of 360 games is almost overwhelming. I end up having to mute most of the people I see with mics next to their names because it never fails that if they get owned or lose they say some ignorant racist shit. Even team based games like MW2. The only time I dont mute people is when I am playing on a team of people that I actually know. I know its due to the fact that PS3 used to be so expensive so most families bought their kids a 360 over a PS3, which explains some of the immaturity but the crap I hear on 360 is worse than the trolling on Youtube under pretty much every single video. There is a saying "you get what you pay for" well tbh I dont feel that I have gotten what I paid for on either account. But here's to hoping for a better tomorrow with VF5FS on consoles in the picture.

False, SONY and EA are know to run their own severs for their games. A lot of 3rd parties don't do it, is P2P. SONY gives them the option if they want to run their own severs.

The difference between XBL and PSN is basically $40 a year and game exclusivity. Fighting games run peer to peer on both platforms. EA's Battlefield series, for example, has dedicated servers on both platforms. If you want to play Halo, Virtual On, or VF5: Online then you need a 360. If you want to play Demon's Souls, Uncharted 2, or Metal Gear Online 2.0 then you need a PS3.

MS charging everyone $40 or whatever a year for XBL gold access is a ripoff for most games. They are charging you $40 so you can play on EA's dedicated servers or play peer-to-peer games with others. So XBL sucks for that.

PSN has tons of wireless users and people who use bluetooth headsets. Those account for enormous amounts of lag. So the PSN sucks because SONY encourages lag causing connections and devices. This is why MS fans always scream "XBL > PSN" because they aren't adjusting for connection quality. On the same connection, a peer-to-peer match for BB:CS or MvC2 HD, on the PS3 and 360, will be the same.

For fighting games, as long as the game is optimized for both platforms, XBL and PSN are the exact same.

Now stop bumping this thread with no new information people!

well damn, you learn something new every day.

my only experiences with psn have been mgo and warhawk, and i was rather unimpressed by both. but at the same time, that was about 2 years ago, so i'm sure at least some shit has changed since then.
