Tad disappointed by this. It's great for VF being at Evo but pointless if the game isn't out worldwide. It just comes across as a showcase for the people who are able to play the game already.

Ah well i'll still be watching the stream.

I'm 99% sure FS is going to be out before EVO, when exactly I don't know.

Guys, count yourself lucky Sega is doing this in your country. In UK/Europe, we get nothing. If nothing else, you get to play the best Japanese players...that should boost your motivation even more.

Top 16 getting prizes is a very good idea. However, part of me wishes sega put this on with out the money or the japanese players. Would have been a much purer event and a leveller playing field.

They can make up for this by announcing that they'll be back at evo next year with a similar pot to give non japanese players an opportunity to shine. As it is the timings aren't great. Especially as it's the end of term and I can't go [IMG]

Bucket of tears, I tell you. Regardless if we had the game for six months or a year, ya still will get son by the Japanese, and still lose to Denkai at EVO. Just have fun, and enjoy your fucking time in Vegas with fellow VFDC players you bunch magets. You know what, I'm going to 2P ya in real life when I see ya.

Sega's doing a great job promoting the game and getting involved with Evo after all these years. Cool stuff. I might be priced out of making the trip but I'm sure it'll be a great time.

It wasn't even clear the game was getting a console release until what, last June/July/? I can't understand any complaining whatsoever.

Let's hope they put even half that amount into putting FS at svb and I'll be a happy chappy. Not gonna happen but a man can dream...

Cannot afford to go, but the others that do have the time for it, are fortunate at the chance of getting a reward in multiple registered games. Honestly, I would never throw away money traveling that far, if there wasn't wealth involved. That is shallow.

      My opinion on the situation:

      1.) THANK YOU SEGA!!! [IMG]

2.) Let's be real. Even if we had the game for 8 months, do you guys REALLY think that we can take down top japanese players? players who a fair amount of us are learning from and gather info from? i'm not saying it's impossible, but highly unlikely.

3.) Focus on the positive and stop finding any reason to complain. Sega may have made mistakes in the past, but does that mean that they can't try to make up for it? They are bringing a game that desperately needs exposure and putting it under the limelight of EVO... sounds like a plan to me.

4.) Let's use common sence here: why would they put this game in EVO with that much money on the line if it still wasn't released? Even if that is the case FOR SOME REASON, the people that have played FS in the US already haven't played it THAT much, so while they will have an advantage, i doubt it will be a blowout.

5.) for those interested in the money aspect of tournaments, there's bonus money being put into it. For those who want competition, there will most likely be top jap players. For those who just love VF, it will be at EVO, sweetening the deal for many people who will be going and watching the stream. And people are bitching because.....?

Im with Rodney.... Im happy for the exposure but when money is involved.... Them Japanese cats got it locked in VF at this point. We won't really have enough time to understand the nuances of te game. as of yet even though i feel i could present a slight challenge it still won't be enough. I might as well just give Fuudo and Itazan $7.50 apiece. I would love to go though just to show support and stuff and meet some of the
      VFCD Peeps.

I think folk are just a bitt annoyed because there is all this cash on the line for their ge finally but the chances of them taking the top spots are slim to none. To say it wouldn't make a difference of we already had the game as long as them is foolish as hell. Of course it would.

It's refreshing to see Sega promoting this game the proper way but I do have some complaints when it comes to EVO. The release of Final showdown and the date of EVO will be much too close for me to even have time to play it in preparation.

Winning money in VF is an issue that I believe no true VF player relies on,so bringing up that point is a waste of time. We all know that we play VF because we love it, not because of the money or having the luxury of a big community (we would've quit long ago if that were the case). The problem I have personally is that at this point I wouldn't even learn much from being defeated by top level Japanese players. I know how my mind operates when I play VF but the gap is just too big for me to even realize "why I'm I losing". In short, they've been playing so long and are already accustom to the new system that when losing to them it will be difficult to learn from mistakes; the gap is just that huge. Had the game been out some time ago we can at least learn from our defeats in much more "productive" way

I've watched a decent amount of vids but I haven't read up on much of the system changes and by the time Evo rolls around I wouldn't even know the frames. The absence of basic knowledge will be the reason why It would be difficult (speaking for myself) to even learn from defeat from them.

If you have the cash to go I encourage all to make it but I'm just being a realist here

See it as this way, no matter what, 2 months before you never thought that you could see that much money for the game, or that money never was ever at the disposal of anyone here

Just be happy that top players will be there to play, or try to get as high as possible since top 16 will stll get money

Not sure if it's sad or funny that I'm seeing some people post here with that "what's the point the japanese will be there" attitude that posted "I don't need to do anything to prepare for FS" in another thread. Maybe just lame all around.

It's all good bro, some people are realists, others are optimists. Personally for me, I LOVE the challenge and I was going to EVO anyways before money was announced because I wasn't going for that. Bring. The. Players. [IMG]

I wasn't going to go to evo but I think will now, for this. I'm very excited to meet and play you guys!

Nah i just think your the lame.. You cant use vanilla to prepare for FS anyway. Secondly non of us dont play vf for money.. I do it out of love. Fuck a tournament i rather have fun with casuals against legends.

      nou
      Yeah you can.

If money doesn't matter why bring it up? It's there, and a draw, but no reason to be down about it if you're down to play.

I'm trying to show up for this now (already had travel plans so we'll see) but why have a downer attitude about it?
