Why care so much about the timing or how good you'll be compared to any Japanese players who decide to show up?

Come and have one of the most fun weekends ever in a place supercharged with hype, play against people you'd rarely be able to go up against in person, and share your love of VF.

It's worth more than any pot.

This is good for the future of vf and esports. A very big step in the right direction IMHO

      This.

Let's think big picture here, guys. Who could have ever dreamed of something like this happening? EVO is a massive platform on which VF is lucky enough, again, to be a part of. The exposure will be massive, and the potential this has to grow our community can't be overstated! It would be wonderful to see as many regulars, and new comers alike, support VF5 FS at Evo come July!

Personally speaking, getting another week off from work, after already taking a week off for LA, is going to be a huge challenge, but... challenge accepted!

Notwithstanding personal/financial constraints, I think everyone here should be excited for this opportunity enough to want to be a part of it! I know I am!

Almost brings a tear to my ear to see them pushing the franchise like this.

Rodney know that I love you like a brother. I wouldn't be playing this game if it wasn't for you.

But you sounding like a bitch right now!

We've been waiting for YEARS for VF to become relevant again. VF players fucked up by not coming out to Evo in '07 and by the time it was out on Xbox nobody gave a damn.

Sega is FINALLY showing support to players outside of Japan. This is VF players biggest chance to show Sega and the world that we care and that we matter.

Every VF fan should support this!

      BRING THE PLAYERS!!!

While it's a fantastic opportunity for VF players and a nice gesture to throw that much money in a VF pot, I can't help but feel that it's going to just end up ultimately hurting the company (SEGA).

Yeah. Big exposure for FS in the biggest fighting tournament of the year is bad for SEGA.

      /facepalm

I guess throwing 15,000 in a pot for a dying company is A-Ok to you. Sega is already a dying company, this is a gamble for them.

The other thing I was thinking about is that the pot is just a ploy, because they are that confident in their star players winning anyways. I am guessing most of that pot is going back to the company if they do win it, and a small percentage of it will be split with the remaining # of qualifiers

I've already planned on attending Evo. This just made my plans seem even sweeter.

I can't wait to see everyone!

Oh how i'd love to be able to go and challenge these star players. What an opportunity.

Ima go out on a limb and say the game will be released in a week or two. ^-^

Never would have guessed this game would be at Evo. And $15,000 to split within the top 16? Damn!

15K is chump change in the games biz.

Sega loses money =/= Sega's gonna die.

They've got a pretty massive firm behind them. They'll be fine. Sony's in a shitload more trouble than they are, all things considered.

(Nintendo lost a boatload of money recently too, y'know, but nobody's saying they're going to die anytime soon...)

That is a lot of loot.

It kind of sucks that it doesn't give players enough time to prep though. Anyone that's been playing the game since like what 08? Got a big headstart. But I mean, I'm glad to see this show up.

First off: great news, I will be trying to make it to this.

Secondly, I almost wish that Sega wasn't offering any of yall shit except for the damn game.
Throw a little money in and motherfuckers forget that they've been asking Sega to do this for YEARS.
Years have gone by and Sega had never shown love for VF players outside of Japan.

Now that they throw 15K in the mix now it's all about the money?
Sega, keep the money, hurry up and release FS, help to organize more tournaments and let people entering pay for their own pot.
How yall crying over money you just found out about?
"It's not fair, waaah." [IMG] Seriously? Ima try to make this to PLAY VF5FS AGAINST TOP LEVEL COMPETITION.
IF and only IF I happen to win some money, that would be fuckin great. If not, it's not like I go to VF gatherings for the money anyway.
I know the love of the game don't pay the bills but if anybody here is playing VF to get paid, you chose the wrong game.

Maybe about a year after FS release there will be a big money tournament and and maybe yall can go get your money then.

Well sh... Tonyfamilia is going??? I was planning to go for KoF but VF and VF fans in the mix too? How could I not go!?

I too am bummed a bit that the tournament will be on a game we haven't had time with, but that gets outweighed by just about everything else this announcement had to say. And as others are saying in the thread, FS at EVO is great exposure for sure.

Pissed I won't be able to make this year's EVO, but I was going next year regardless (no more execuses). I hope the hype can stay strong, 'till next year and give SEGA an incentive to add to the pot again when everyone is comfortable with the game.
