Grats Quickwhit! That seems like a great accomplishment and I hope to do the same someday.

This is addressed to the Hampton Roads players. What I'd like to know is, what ever happened to this enthusiasm that I've seen while reading the VA forum? From the quotes above, it seems that many of you were eager at wanting to play people offline. However, when the time comes, when there are get togethers, only one person shows up. And that was Chefboy. And ironically, some can go to NY to play VF, but not play VF offline in their local area with those who are readily available? That I don't get. Now I've had gaming sessions at my place almost every week. I always post reminders here in advance and sometimes send reminders on XBL. I always have friends from other games show up but no one ever shows up for VF. One of you last weekend spoke to me in AIM and told me personally that you would come out Saturday. But that didn't happen. I know many of you still read the forums because I see many of you talk in the shout box so I'm sure you're gonna eventually read this. My question to all of you is, are any of you really serious about playing VF offline? Are any of you serious about trying actually develop this community here? Or are all the things I've quoted from you guys just a bunch of fluff? I'd like to know.

I just don't like Chesapeake or Norfolk /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Also comparing a small gathering to something like NYG or Socal is unfair.

There's nothing unfair about that. Truth is what it is.

I've been trying to get everyone in this area together for quite some time now. Even before VF5 came out while we were playing VF4:Evo, I've talked to many of my friends who were holding tournaments and asked them to host VF. For a while, it was doing well. That's when my friend introduced me to Flash and from there, he just took the torch and went with it. Now they have a striving VF community and NOVA and we don't have jack down here.

I've been holding games every week, and only one time did one person show up. I think that's sad. And what makes it even more sad is the fact that someone can drive 7 hours out of state but not even 15 minutes locally? You and I have only played once offline. Which was last February when VF5 first came out. I was invited to your place to play VF with you, Keeno, and some others. I've been trying to get get games with you for a while and it still hasn't happened yet.

Flash made a good point in the shout box the other day when he said about playing what you got in front of you. But to add to that, how about playing who you have in front of you? If you can make a 7 hour trip, certainly you can make a 15 minute local trip. I mean, one time you did say that you were going to come over for at least 1 hour, but that didn't happen. RawEmpire told me last week on AIM he was coming. In fact, he even asked me about getting together. Yet what does he do? He doesn't even show up. I've had DaComboKid multiple times message me on XBL asking about gatherings but he's yet to show too.

So right now, I just wanna know what is up with Hampton Roads. Are we ever gonna get something put together or was all of that talk in the past just that. Talk.

Well it's not fair. You are comparing a gathering of over 40 people who I actively play online and talk with on the forums. Several even gave their time to help me learn how to play the game. It was not only an opportunity but a privilege to meet them. Driving 8 hours was worth every mile. Plus its NY. Its not Norfail or Chesapeake. I have lived here for 18 years, going to either of those cities is about as fun as puking milk for me.

More importantly, I'm a busy dude. I play a lot of games and I am always doing something. I don't exclusively play VF and not to mention it is the only fighting game I play. So getting up with 2-5 people is not something I will drop what I am doing for. Shit I live with someone who plays VF, that last thing I want to do is drive somewhere for one more player.

This doesn't mean I don't want to play. It means I need more incentive then "there might be some people that show up".

As a side note, the one time I said i would go, I told you that there was a chance I would bail. Why? Because I had a marathon to run at 6am the next morning. So like Disney World....

    Marathon > VF

I think at this point both of you have made your points. Responding on the issue any further will just build animosity. Blackula at the end of the day if people don't want to come out to play VF you can't really blame them. Just say oh well and move on. It sucks I know you want local comp, but it's just not there anymore. I've already gotten over it. I'll be down to play every now and then, but it's just life.

I agree with Chef. I came off a bit sarcastic above, sorry.

But I think if we had something once a month where more then just 2-3 people showed that would be sick. Every week, nah. I can do that online and get far more variety and not owrry about gas.

I am more then willing to help plan something bigger then a simple friendly meet up. No doubt its cool hanging out with people interested in the game. It would just be more fun to have a good amount of players willing and ready to play some great games.

NOVA has what, 10 or so players all ranging in play style and skill level? So far I have seen me, Black, and Chef here as regular members who actively play online and contribute what we can to the community. If we get some REAL players besides us 3 then I am down.

But how are we supposed to plan something big if we can't even start small first? NOVA didn't get that way over night. They started small and it grew. They actually started coming to the tournaments I was hosting down here in SOVA and then Flash just ran with it.

I'm not saying that you have to come every week I host games. I generally host games weekly because many of my friends want to game. And since my place is a very good size, I generally host since I can accomodate the people. But if no one ever shows, even if on occasion, I highly doubt anything big is ever gonna get started in this area.

Regardless, when I do host games, anyone is still welcome. So I'm not going to stress it anymore. If anyone doesn't show, oh well.

Flash, Dango, Terry & Me(not so much anymore) were the regulars.
Spanky, and Quickwhit have families, so they can only play on occasion.

XD...amazing how a lot of hype can turn ordinary into LEGENDARY!

Thanks for the support guys. Buying a house is a ton of work, but it is definitely worth it. We've been in the place a little short of a week now and it's still a mess, but I'll let you guys know as soon as we get it together. The gathering will probably be on a Sunday (I'm getting NFL Sunday Ticket set up this weekend by the way) 2-3 weeks from this Sunday. I'll keep everyone posted (internet FINALLY gets hooked up on Mon).
