    OHIO

    This contest is a wonderful idea. It made me dig through some of my old files and also gives Ohio a chance to build a bigger VF community.

    Since I don't see anything posted from C-bus, I will start it off!

    In the Past...
    The Ohio scene, like most other scenes in the United States, is a small group of VFers that played it competitively and, most importantly, enjoy hanging around with each other and having fun.

    I actually got introduced to competitive VF play at St. Louis, Missouri, when Kaminary_Oyajii and Shou invited me to play Evolution Version A Arcade. When I moved from St. Louis to Cleveland, Ohio, there was no VF scene. However, a small group of people in Columbus, OH, played VF daily. Maddy, who I met at St. Louis on a July 4th weekend, invited me over to Columbus. There was a group of normal VFers at Columbus, in which, for 3 and a half years I kept in touch with, and was basically my "local" scence (for the first 2 years, I went to Columbus on a monthly basis which is ~2.5 hour drive away from Cleveland. So its not really that local -_-;;).

    During this time, I had a lot of fun. We did many things together, in which some of the more memorable ones were -

    1. VF tourney in an RV (was heading to Iowa for a gathering that I can't remember the name off my head). Not only did we had to compete against each other in VF, there was the added variable of car motion sickness 0_0.

    2. I love VF tourney - in which we lost TheBradShow (also previously known as Kojiro and SH_...stick to one name!) in New York City . We were in such a hurry to get onto the subway, that we were unaware that he did not follow us onto the subway. We got to meet many VFers outside of Ohio and some well known Japanese players were present. My car was also giant swinged by mother nature during that trip -_-.

    Here are some pictures I digged out, that even the C-bus crew has not seen yet (Apologize ahead of time, if you did not want them posted! :p.

    [IMG]

    Original Gathering Place - LanLords
    This is where I met most of the C-bus people. LanLords was owned by one of the VFers, Avi (sorry if I spelled your name wrong -_-), in which pople can come over to play network computer, dancing, and console games. A very comfortable place with a nice atmosphere.

    [IMG]

    Later on, our VF gatherings were done at TheBradShow's basement, as our gaming sessions lasted past midnight many times.
    As you can see from the picture, we are a very serious group of VFers :p.

    [IMG]

    This is the 100X overdramatized r-eenactment of when my car got giant swinged by the first major winter snowstorm in the east coast (sometime in December 2003 or January 2004....). We got stucked in a ditch somewhere in Pennsylvania, before a tow truck got us out. While the car does not look like it was damaged much, it was pretty scary having the car do a 360. Luckily no one was hurt!

    [IMG]

    Just a picture of TheBradShow and Dandy_J without injuries after the trip to New York City. This was taken outside of my apartment in Cleveland.

    With school taking a considerable amount of my time, the monthly 5 hour total drive to Columbus was becoming too taxing on me. For the last year and a half, my trip to Columbus became more of an biannual trip.

    Since the monthly trips to Columbus, my playing of VF was irregular since Cleveland never had a VF gathering in the past 3 and a half years. At least until now....

    ...Into the Future!
    The past 3.5 years, others have approached me to playing VF in the Cleveland area; however, it never materialized. With VF5 about to come out, it sparked some interest in the Cleveland area. So in 2007, for the first time in Cleveland, there were others interested in meeting and playing VF! So far, the "Cleveland" part of the Ohio scene has met three times playing Evo (me, NinjaCW, and Tribal).

    Who knows what the future holds, but so far with VF5 about to be released, it looks promising. The Ohio scene have a strong small group of players in Columbus and hopefully the Cleveland portion will grow. There is a tentatively scheduled gathering between Columbus and Cleveland in April that I am excited about.

    [IMG]

    My room's setup with a PS3 with no PS3 joystick and no VF5 yet -_-.!This is one of the possible places for Cleveland VF gatherings, but its not really set in stone yet as we just started meeting with each other in the last month. I think Tribal will post some pics of his house setup too!

    I got a PS3, but no games yet! I will be purchasing VF5 when it is released in the US. If the OH scene is awarded with a copy of VF5 and that it was sent to me, I would give it away freely to someone committed to playing VF in the OH area or as a prize for some OH gathering tournament.

    Lets hope that "2007 will bring the players" :D!

    Another week or so to go guys, hopefully you all have something either done since this past weekend, or preparing to get together next weekend to put something cool together.

    Introducing the Nordic Virtua Fighter community

    Hi everyone! Hope you'll enjoy the following pictures representing the Nordic Virtua Fighter community!

    I can start off by saying that the Nordic community consists of Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland. We have unfortunately not been able to get in contact with our missing friend Iceland, as you might notice. However, we are certain that the release of VF5 will bring the players! Who knows? Perhaps within a year we will be seeing the Icelandic VF players at top of Europe!

    The Nordic VF scene started really small. During the VF3 days, there were absolutely no VF players at all in Norway. Sweden and Denmark did however have around 8 players, and this little community resulted in the appearance of the very first Scandinavian Virtua Fighter fansite. The site lives on today, and it has become bigger and better, hosting VF related movie and music files, as well as articles from various VF gatherings experienced by our players.

    Through the community page on the site – the Virtua Daily – VF fans from each Nordic country get the ability to keep in touch as well as organize a variety of VF get-togethers.
    This has resulted in numerous tournaments held in Norway and Sweden, as well as Finland.

    If anyone of you has any free time to spare, please check out the site by copying and pasting the following link:

    Anyway, sorry for writing such a long text! Hope you find the pictures interesting!

    Visiting abroad

    Being such huge fans of the Virtua Fighter series, we took time off work to go on holiday to Japan to experience the essence of Virtua Fighter. Our Norwegian players Raider and Netrom have also visited Boston where they played in a VF tournament. Some of you attending that gathering might recognise the twins.

    Our VF teachers

    Although the following people do not directly represent the Nordic VF community, we thought we'd mention them due to the fact that they are our very own VF teachers. If we wonder about something, these are the guys we ask, so in a sense, they are a very important part of the VF community here.

    [IMG]
    Itabashi Zangief together with Mr. David (Sekaijin) at Shou's place in Ebisu. Itabashi Zangief used to be a Wolf player during the first Kakutou Shinseiki and has therefore had a huge influence on Chief Gutti's change of play for the better.

    [IMG]
    Akapan and Shou. Akapan, or Akai Pants (Red Pants), used to be one of the top Wolf players during the VF3 era. He was called Akapan due to the fact that he always selected the Red Wolf. He is still being recognised in the arcades today. Many remember him absolutely killing his opponents, and therefore still fear him. Now on to Shou. Perhaps the best Western VF player together with Maddy, Adam Yuki and Ryan Hart. Came 2nd in the Evolution 2004 VF EVO tournament, beaten by his friend Itabashi Zangief in the final. If you have a question about VF, Shou can answer it.

    [IMG]
    Our VF Master Shou has reached the top of the VF5 list during the location test stage of the game.

    [IMG]
    Unconkable, Shou, Chief Gutti and Mr. David. Unconkable is famous among the Tekken scene. He is perhaps among the best 5 players in the US. He plays a really strong Brad which will just become better and better after the release of VF5.

    To get a more thorough explanation and introduction to the Nordic VF community, you can read some of the stories written from VF events if you access the fansite linked to at the top.
    Some information is also written at Chief Gutti's Corner, a blog which contains information on the Norwegian VF scene, as well as his impression on Rautanyrrki 2006 in Finland and Versus 2006 in Sweden.

    Finally, we would like to thank all the helpful people at VFDC who's been more than willing to share their strategies and opinions on the series. It has kept us hanging in there despite the fact that there is no arcade scene to be found in Northern Europe (Scandinavia). With all the effort all of us put together to maintain this exciting community, we are sure that 2007 will bring the players!

    Hello people!
    Good work from all, the last few posts made me jealous! kick arse setups you're got there, very nice!!! Since everyone is having such a fun time posting images, I did the same thing and made a webpage out of it to make it easier to browse through photos (yep, click on the photos for slides). I'm representing my area 'South-East' area and also 'London', since I played in both places often. Please check out the latest vids I uploaded in youtube, enjoy! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

    Re: VFDC Virtua Fighter 5 Free Giveaway Contest!!!

    I'll be honest, the fighting game scene in the area has been lacking... and the Virtua Fighter scene on the East Coast is pretty much non-existant. Look at the American scenes already listed in this thread, most of them are on the west coast and the mid-west. NJ a few years ago was considered one of the toughest scenes for both Tekken and Soul Calibur; however, poor game design like Tekken 4 and Soul Calibur 3 greatly dimished the communities. Those still in the communities to this day are trying to bring back interest in competetive fighting games and have been thus far pretty succesful. Team Crooked Jester (the team to which I belong) currently runs one of the most stable tournament scenes for Soul Calibur 3 in the western hemisphere. We have tournaments once every 5-6 weeks and generally get from around 16-32 players to show up to said tournaments. Team Crooked Jester started with Soul Calibur, eventually introduced Narutimate Hero and more recently started running Tekken. However, even with all that, the interest for Virtua Fighter just wasnt there.

    In 5 days, with the release of Virtua Fighter 5 for the PS3, I plan on doing my best to get as many people interested into the game as possible. In fact, we already have our first major tournament in April and we've decided to throw Virtua Fighter in as a main event. (April Foolishness Tournament) Since we already have a large base of players here on the east coast, garnering interest in a series as balanced as Virtua Fighter should be a relatively easy task in the light of unbalanced games in other series. One of the major drawing powers of our tournaments are the fact that matches played on our main event TV are recorded in full progressive 60fps video and then posted in high quality on our website. Of course, we also offer YouTube mirrors for the technologicaly impaired.

    Here are three samples of the videos we produce...
    Video: 2048bit, Audio: 128bit, 480p, 30fps - http://www.crookedjester.com/downloads/demovids/sc2.intro.StarOfDestiny.mkv

    These videos are in H.264-x264-MKV, appropriate codecs included with CCCP or K-Lite Codec Packs
    You can see more of our videos by downloading here: (registration is free) http://www.crookedjester.com/local_links.php

    Here is the record for our July 15 tourney... since those are the pics I posted above... hmm... looks like KidDisaster got 5th, not 3rd... oh well... Ohyes, and the black guy in the Team Screaming Fetus picture is Klizza, not ShadowFox.

    Cleveland, OH- We do exist!

    Akai did his on the entire state of Ohio. I'll be going off of his to center it down to Cleveland. Hope you enjoy!

    http://virtuafighter.com/forums/ubbthreads.php/ubb/showflat/Number/148440/page/1#Post148440

    I started this post with this link for a reason, because it's kind of a big deal for us in Cleveland. This has been our only VF Cleveland thread with any traffic in it, and there hasn't been one before it. It was made exactly 1 month ago to this day (the day I started writing this anyways) and it already has 74 replies. Just to give an example of how big this is for Cleveland; we've never had a VF scene to speak of, and the first post by NinjaCW says it all:

    "I know it is a long shot but I was wondering if there was anyone I could play Virtua Fighter with around here. I am not sure how good or bad I am at the game but am looking to get better. If anyone is around a PM or post would be most appreciated"

    It's pretty obvious by the first post that having anyone in the area reply wasn't expected. It started slowly with Maddy posting, then Srider, who lived somewhat far off, so things weren't looking too good. Then Akai posted, then myself, later on Body Mechanic, Sazabi, and Chinny... as Maddy put it:

    "A VF scene in Cleveland. How great!"

    Since I can't speak for the other members of my group, I'll give a short synopsis on myself. I started my fighting game "career" with Tekken 3 back when I was 16 (old enough to drive myself to the arcade). I didn't know anything about forums, frames, juggling, or anything semi-deep about fighting games as my friends and I only played it casually, but for hours on end. One day I hit my opponent in the air, and hit them again while they were in the air, and I said to myself "...you can do that?" I came up with so many juggles with every character in the game, started developing strategies, and I had yet to lay eyes on any forum.

    After a while I started becoming quite good at the game (which was now Tekken Tag Tournament), so good in fact that my friends slowly stopped playing against me, but new people started showing up and we’re becoming regulars. One day, a guy I hadn't met before was at the machine and he had a win streak of 10 games. I smirked while thinking of all the scrubs he probably played against to get to that point. I popped my quarters in and lost... terribly. So, I tried again, and again... and again. Eventually, he had well over 30 wins in a row almost all completely on me. He would leave without me beating him once, and it was at this point that I realized I was a complete scrub. We did talk a bit and he told me about a website called TekkenZaibatsu.com, and that his friends played a lot and traveled to other cities for tournaments; this is where I would begin to really play fighting games. I started traveling for tournaments with my new group of friends, meeting new people, developing strategies, and having a great time doing it.

    In terms of VF, it is a game I've only recently got into. I saw it for $7 a couple months ago, so I picked it up. When I first started playing it I didn't really have too much fun as it wasn't like other fighting games I had played so I got beat a lot (against the computer). I started playing more, learned (well, attempted to learn) basic stuff with all the characters, and started thoroughly enjoying the game and the depth it offered. I even bought a stick just because I found it was easier to play VF on a stick rather than a pad. Now that I have other people to play against I've really gotten hooked and, to be honest, VF5 is the first game I've really been genuinely excited about since Tekken 5 two years ago. I even got to play it back in May at the Club Sega over in Akihabara in Tokyo when I went on a trip to Japan through my college (I got thoroughly owned if you must ask).

    We've already met a few times since the Cleveland thread has started. I don't really know how good or bad we are, because I've never really played anyone that I've known to be good, so I have no base for comparison. The point is, however, is that I'm very sure something is starting here. What's really great is the fact that Columbus is only about 2 and a half hours south of us, and they already have a very well established scene. Once we start playing more, it will only be a matter of time before we head down there for a gathering, or maybe even a tournament. From what I've read in another thread Cincinnati has also had a few people sprout up (http://virtuafighter.com/forums/ubbthreads.php/ubb/showflat/Number/150651/page/2#Post150651). With VF5 coming out, all these people within the state are coming together at the same time on the website and it's really very exciting.

    To get back to Cleveland, We went from a few guys here and there who've never met before, to 6 guys keeping in contact with each other to hang out, finally meet, and play some VF. To further make the point, look at how many posts we all have... Akai has 216, Mechanic has 15, Ninja has 25, Sazabi has 16, Chinny has 11 and me with 41. Almost all of us are just starting off or haven't had a reason to post, but it's a good start to go from nothing to all of us being active on the forums. As an update (as of February 22nd) I want to also say that two more new members to VFDC have recently been to our thread and have expressed interest in playing in our group, both from the Cleveland area.

    Up to this point, as a group we haven't been diehards in VF by any stretch of the imagination; we haven't traveled anywhere as a group, we haven't played any tournaments together locally, hell we haven't had a gathering where all of us are present at the same time. I don't have any pictures of us in Japan, or great stories of tournaments past, or background info for any of us. So, you may be thinking "Why bother making an entry for this contest," and my answer would be something that caught my eye in a single sentence that was in the initial post:

    "...based on who we feel will best benefit from receiving a free copy of Virtua Fighter 5..."

    I feel that Cleveland would best benefit from this. The cities that have posted all have scenes, and they have HAD scenes for quite some time, which is awesome (and I hope to play against those scenes some day), but how do they benefit by getting VF5? Granted they could get more players into their group, but they already have something established. All we've had in Cleveland up to this point is 6 people, with 6 PS2's, 6 copies of a 4 year old VF:EVO, and no one to play it with. I feel that if Cleveland won a VF5 all 6 of us would be taken aback by the fact that the community has recognized that we're starting something here. That in itself would give us a boost of confidence to do something with it.

    We've already done the hard part of making, and keeping, contact with one another. We're starting to talk and hang out more and it can only get better from here. I ask VFDC.com to help better our situation and give us, the city of Cleveland, VF5 so that we can really start something. We'll prove to you how it goes in the long run.

    Now some pictures of our scene!

    [IMG]
    This is me (pay no mind to the shirt).

    [IMG]
    Up to a few weeks ago this WAS my scene...

    [IMG]
    This is my scene in action (pretty lonely)

    [IMG]
    another shot of my scene...

    [IMG]
    my scene in action... (look at the shadowing on that 3P...HARDCORE!)

    [IMG]
    Definitive proof that I did buy the game for $7. I would have easily paid $40 for it.

    [IMG]
    Yes, it's a tekken stick... it was only $30 so I bought it. As I said earlier the whole reason why I bought it was to play VF on it.

    You've seen the shots of my "scene" (myself), and you see how lonely it is to not have anyone to play against (up until as of late). If VFDC chooses Cleveland, this will be the outcome...

    Re: VFDC Virtua Fighter 5 Free Giveaway Contest!!!

    If playing vf taught me something that recent posts in this topic confirm, it would be that there's much more to vfing than what you can see happening on vfdc. There's always something going on somewhere, only people are more or less aware of it. Let this be a brief look at the local vf story during the last three years.

    Local vfing has to struggle mainly with two things, lack of arcade background and huge playstation Tekken tradition. Casual players who tried out the game mostly during all-fighters tourneys came and went, so just a few faithful ones carried on. Honestly, if there were 20 vfers like in Germany, we would consider this success. Similarly to what ChiefGutti and others have posted though, some international gatherings came into play eventually, so a few poor scenes, as Forty put it lately, at least set up some decent and particularly enjoyable events.

    To shortly introduce some of the memorable pictures and replays, let's start with Pribram Open in July 04. That was one of the first where you could sign up for vf after a long time. Unicorn who was playing mostly tk4 back then helped with the vf set up the most, and he began playing vf as his main later. We also got to know Pacco there who kept winning most of the future vf tourneys.
    <span style='font-size: 8pt'>
    * The round robin group paper (part of my watch at the left bottom)
    * trophies
    * the clubroom, some beers, vf at the right bottom

    * semifinals Pacco x Knot
    </span>

    A minor friendly gathering took place in the Raptor Club in Zdar in August 04 which was more of a starting point for the next tourney there in October:
    <span style='font-size: 8pt'>
    * the club building (it wasn't as ugly inside)
    * Unicorn at Pacco's
    * Pacco tries out FS2
    * left to right Pacco, Roscou's head, Knot, Unicorn, Medvěd
    * more warming up in Raptor</span>

    Here's a replay from the finals, Knot x Pacco again, and won by Pacco again: <span style='font-size: 8pt'>
    * finals</span>

    We got in touch with the Austrian Team Virtual Combat in December 04 and attended - me, Unicorn and Knot - the vf part of their Winter Cup in the Shinergy dojo in Vienna. That was the first meeting with the Virtual Combat dudes and dudettes. You can see some them on the TTT top three photo - left to right Comboholic (Gregor), Quickben (Ben), Lukas, Zaubermaister (Jorgen), Cold (Dani) or DocHoliday (Igor). We met also Denis aka Jacky Chun, chief instructor of the Shinergy dojo, his sister Poison Ivy, Hamada or the shinergy kids. Since the events were held in dojo, there were people who were actually training martial arts or having work outs there, including kids from the Shinergy Young club who were taking part in the "Rookie cup" event. Now I know Polish players begin playing at early age, but that's prolly nothing compared to rookie cup contestants. Seeing such a gaming base was real astonishing.
    The event was very well done. Denis and Ben provided commentary both in german and japanese and the vibe was great. Knot made it to the finals with his Aoi and ended up like a runner up after Jacky Chun's Jacky. We stayed for some friendly playing till the next day at Igors' and took the eurocity back home then. Taking part in Virual Combat tournyes was major love.
    <span style='font-size: 8pt'>
    * TTT runner up (John), champ Doc Holiday (Igor)
    * Fabian x Patrick</span>

    casual replay <span style='font-size: 8pt'>DocHoliday x Knot (Aoi x Aoi)</span>

    Me and Knot qualified for the Virtual Combat Finals that were taking place at the end of December. Eventually I went just by myself. I lost against Igor's Aoi in the first round, but again the event was worth dropping by. Zaubermeister, Denis, Greg, Igor and Hamada had some great matches and came off respectively.
    <span style='font-size: 8pt'>
    * Austrian VF4 Evo '05 top three Comboholic (Greg), Zaubemeister (Jorgen), Jacky Chun (Denis)</span>

    Some casuals from after the tourney (please bear with the gameplay)
    <span style='font-size: 8pt'>
    * Zaubemeister x me
    * Zaubemeister x me</span>

    Another remarkable tourney was Otrokovice in July 05. Virtual Combat team appeared for tekken and vf and for the first time some vfers showed up in the group of Polish players - as far as I can remember they were Wacha and Kuras. The semifinals came off real good so the first three places in vf took Pacco, Wacha and Denis.
    <span style='font-size: 8pt'>
    * left to right Gregor, Unicorn, Wacha, Igor, Kuras, behind them Knot, Denis, Ben and Dani
    * Qwerty and Lojza playing Tekken, panda in the background
    * Otrokovice 05 VF champs: Wacha, Pacco, Denis
    * Day two: Lojza getting humped by panda</span>

    some casuals: <span style='font-size: 8pt'>
    * Denis (Ja) x Wacha (Je)
    * Denis (Sh) x Wacha (Je)</span>

    Some friendly gatherings took place in Dec 05, Feb 06 and March 06 at Unicorn's. Unicorn attended E3 in May 06 and was playing some early version of VF5 and FT on local arcades but didn't seem to be able to find any pics now. I'm still pretty much sure it happened though : ) The next all fighters event was in Jirkov in July 06. We got to know some more Polish players who were playing most of the games that were on the list. Some of them even played vf, namely the fighting brothers Matt and Devil who you might recall from Griever's post. The vf champ was Pacco again, Matt end up second.
    <span style='font-size: 8pt'>
    * some trophies
    * Matt the Jirkov 06 VF4Evo runner up
    * view of the hall, yours truly me at the right bottom
    * Polish crew scores in TTT (Sova, Majin Gon, Matt, Devil)</span>

    some casual replays:<span style='font-size: 8pt'>
    * me (Li) x Matt (Aoi)
    * me (Li) x Devil (Ka)
    * Unicorn (Je )x Matt (Ka)
    * Unicorn (Je) x Matt (Br)</span>

    The last vf thing I took part in was a friendly VF4Evo good bye gathering in Warsaw in November. I met Wacha and Kuras again and took up with Forty, Di, Villain and Ruccio. There are no pics from this event (you don't miss much), but if you still didn't have enough, there are some replays.<span style='font-size: 8pt'>
    * Villain (KA) x Wacha (JE)
    * me (WO) x 40i4 (GO)
    * 40i4 (JA) x Wacha (SA)</span>

    I'm slightly optimistic towards future. VF5 will hopefully bring some new players, some will convert from tekken at least until tk6 is out, and future gatherings are already being planned. Boy my carpals hurt.

    I think I deserve a copy of Virtua Fighter 5 becaues of one word LOYALTY. I have been a devout Virtua Fighter fan since the first one.

    I know so is every one else on this website, but let me explain what I mean when I say I've been a since the very first Virtua Fighter game. To me this game is simple math. A three button layout that can result in a extraordinary fight match, if you put the effort into it. Now a days people aren't intrested in taking time in learning a video game. To me in this day in age video games in general are taken casually. You mite go over to a friends house and play a sports game,a shooting game, or even a adventure game. That is okay for some people, but you can have just as much fun playing a video game like Virtua Fighter 5 if you take the time to learn the proper techniques it takes to learn a game like this.

    So for my scene in Columbus Ohio,I would like to educate these casul gamers how much more deeper a game like Virtua Fighter 5 can be if you put effort into it. And with that will come fun and excitement of how great a deep game like Virtua Fighter can be. So with that knowledge a game like this can be ten times more exciting than just button mashing, or knowing one, or two moves.

    Since you are giving us (the fans) this great opportunity to make are scene grow, we can show gamers how awesome a game like Vertua Fighter 5 can be once you develop, and master your skills.

    VF5 Free Giveaway Contest!!!! Dominican Republic

    I got to admit it!!
    Exposing the situation of our VF fighting scene it's not easy
    after seeing so many good entries, but the way I see it, even
    if we don’t win a copy of VF5, maybe a VF player or a group of
    players could come to this beautiful island for vacations. In
    other words: Beach, Sun, Beautiful Women and VF… What else
    could somebody wants. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

    <span style='font-size: 20pt'>The Story</span>

    Ok, Let’s start from the beginning. The first time that I saw
    VF, was VF1 but it came late. I think that it was by the time
    that VF2 was already out. I was somehow attracted to that new
    style of fighters, but not enough to leave Street Fighter. Then
    at the end of 1996, I got a Saturn and Street Fighter Alpha 2,
    also got VF2. This time, I was really impress with the game.
    So I decided to play the game with the “Ryu†type of character
    called “Akiraâ€Â. Well, you can imagine what happened 

    So I started training with Sarah and it was love at first kick.
    The only problem was that I couldn’t find a single soul that
    wanted to play VF2 with me. So after trying a few more times, I
    stopped playing VF2.

    A few years later, I saw information about VF3!! I said to
    myself, I got to play this game. So I begged and got on my knees
    and begged a little more to my local arcade to get this machine.
    Finally after VF3TB was out, my local arcade got a VF3 board.
    I remember like yesterday that I played the first match of that
    machine. It was Sarah vs Lion. I also remember that I lost, but
    anyway, I was so happy that even after loosing, I looked like
    coming out of winning SBO.

    Then something really wrong happened, nobody (and I mean nobody)
    was playing VF3. The Tekken3 on the other hand, was always
    packed. I began my work as a VF Evangelist, but with terrible

    results. People got impressed with the graphics, but commitment
    to the game was only skin deep. As terrible as it sounds, I
    ended up again playing by myself alone. The only difference was
    that I had to feed this “VF3 Saturn†with tokens in order to
    play. I played quite a lot in that arcade. The characters that I used were:

    Sarah, Pai, Aoi, Akira in that same order. I was giving Akira a
    second chance, but I got to admit that my Akira sucks BigTime.

    After that, the Sega DreamCast came out and I got one with
    VF3TB, it was great, but I wanted a stick for playing. I even
    got the chance of trying VF3TB with an Agetec stick. I remember
    thinking “What’s with the lollypop?â€Â.
    The DreamCast was a lifesaver, because my local arcade closed that year, so no more
    VF3 for me.

    Years of seeing fighting coming and going, but no VF of any sort
    in my country.

    VF4 was announced and I was (once more) amazed because of this
    fighting series.

    Asking for the possibilities of having this game in my country? ZERO

    So I waited for the PS2 version. I remember preordering!!

    My GOD!! What a Great Game!!

    But even after all the improvements, I ended up playing VF4
    again alone…
    Evolution…. The same…

    Then I though: “I got to get in touch with people that play this gameâ€Â

    And the project “HonMaru: VideoFighting en R.D.†was born!!

    My idea? Simple, create a web page and dedicated to the best of
    the best in 2D and 3D fighting games. The results? In two years,
    the fighting community in my country is organized and small
    tourneys of supported games are carried.

    But the most important part of all is:

    I got a very small but dedicated fighting scene for VF.
    It was really something to find people that liked this game.

    <span style='font-size: 20pt'>The People</span>

    <span style='font-size: 14pt'>Alucard</span>

    [IMG]

    This is our fulltime dedicated Akira player. He can hold his own again anyone of the group.
    Alucard is the kind of player that loves to put pressure on his opponent.
    And let me tell you that one mistake is all this guy needs to take half of your life away.

    Ahh, before I forget it, he is a die hard fan of the DualShock. So no stick for this Akira.

    <span style='font-size: 14pt'>Shinobi</span>

    [IMG]

    Alucard little brother must be easy for anyone to guess his character.
    Shinobi takes advantage of all Kage tools and is the most technical fighter of the whole group.

    <span style='font-size: 14pt'>Xtyle</span>

    [IMG]

    Manía Xtyle is Another strong player of our Dominican Team. This one is our Shun player.
    Lately, he is not coming so often to gatherings, but I am very sure that that’s about to change.

    <span style='font-size: 14pt'>Shadow Devil</span>

    [IMG]

    This member is not that old and he likes Goh.
    He is doing a very good job learning a character like Goh.
    He needs more practice, but he is doing well.

    <span style='font-size: 14pt'>Katsuya</span>

    [IMG]

    After playing with Katsuya, you might think that his last name is “Machiâ€Â
    or something like that. Katsuya can lead you to make mistakes that can cost you
    a round or even the fight.

    Amazing enough, he can get wins out of more skilled players than him.
    So if you have to fight him, my advice is to stay cool.

    <span style='font-size: 14pt'>Magnusum</span>

    [IMG]

    He plays with Lei Fei and Wolf. And Lion and Pai… So we call him sometimes
    the MokuJin of the group (referring to the wood puppet of Tekken that changes
    style in every round).

    Magnusum is a Sony fan (very weird thing nowadays) and he don’t want to play VF in X360.
    How strange can this get? He has a very solid Wolf and LeiFei.

    In case he is winning, just show him a picture of the latest Bravia T.V. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif
    That will do the trick.

    <span style='font-size: 14pt'>BigJoe</span>

    [IMG]

    Very well know Soul Calibur Player. He always goes for fatale women and heavy characters.
    In VF he plays with Jeffry and Vanessa.

    <span style='font-size: 14pt'>Heta Akira</span>

    [IMG]

    42 years old fan of fighting games and founder of HonMaru
    project. For me fighting is a sport and VF happens to be the
    mother of all sports. I know that I still got a long way
    promoting this great game. Ahh, in case you wonder what is the
    meaning of my ring name, Heta Akira = Scrub Akira (Aoi is my
    main character).

    <span style='font-size: 14pt'>Ranarkis</span>

    [IMG]

    That is his ring name and real name. He is the newest member of our group.
    He must love this game, because he trained without anyone.
    Starting from this last gathering, Ranarkis and his Lei Fei is an integral part of our VF Scene.

    <span style='font-size: 14pt'>Chiqui</span>

    [IMG]

    Well if SEGA got one, why can’t we have one also?
    The mascot of the league spends part of the time looking at our matches.

    <span style='font-size: 20pt'>The Places</span>

    These are the places where we fight!!

    <span style='font-size: 14pt'>My House:</span>

    I got a very small area for my use so there is a limit of people that I can take.
    Nevertheless, we get good gatherings at my home.

    [IMG]

    <span style='font-size: 14pt'>Shinobi’s Home:</span>

    More space, and more equipment. This place was really the home of good Evolution fight

    [IMG]

    [IMG]

    [IMG]

    [IMG]

    <span style='font-size: 14pt'>Arena Cyber Games:</span>

    After the VF5 comes out, we will meet in this club inside the “Plaza Central†mall.
    And there is the PS3 that we will use.

    [IMG]

    [IMG]

    [IMG]

    <span style='font-size: 14pt'>Diamond Mall</span>

    There is a VF4E machine in that Mall, but the only problem is that the game is inside a cabinet of VF1.
    I hate that buttons layout.

    [IMG]

    <span style='font-size: 14pt'>Chinese Restaurant</span>

    [IMG]

    Just kidding /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif
    We go from time to time to have dinner.

    <span style='font-size: 20pt'>The Tools</span>

    What we use for fighting?

    Only Shadow Devil and use sticks, all the other members use the terrible DualShock for playing.
    Even Alucard do all kind of things with a pad.

    <span style='font-size: 14pt'>These are my sticks</span>

    [IMG]

    <span style='font-size: 14pt'>And this baby is just waiting for VF5</span>

    [IMG]

    <span style='font-size: 20pt'>The Stuff</span>

    Here I have some pictures of VF related things. It’s a small collection,
    but I am very proud of every part of it.

    [IMG]

    [IMG]

    [IMG]

    <span style='font-size: 20pt'>The Inevitable</span>

    This is an omake of my scene presentation.
    In this video, you will see the last part of a fight that I was
    recording. That was until something happened. See for yourself.

    To understand what happened, I will give you a clue. Dominican
    Republic is a third world country /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/shocked.gif Still don’t get it?
    Ask Sudden Death, he knows.
