Concidering how spread out players are for the most part, yes, I would say that I am lucky to have 3 people realativley close to me that I can play several times a week. If you don't concider that luck you're either one of those guys I was talking about or you just plain don't enjoy the game anymore.

If VF5R had no online would I buy it? Yes, but would I be dissapointed? Very much so. I doubt they'd release the VF5R port without online, after all online was a major selling point in the 360 version (hence the name Virtua Fighter 5 Online).

I agree with everything you said. Hence my comment, but there was a discussion somewhere else about why VF5's sales were poor. The reason why I say this is because the PS3 version sold more without online play. Half of those guys are going to run to all the other fighters and not coming back to play VF for now anyway. It's just a shame that Sega have made many mistakes over VF5's release on both consoles.

Maybe if some people actually read some they wouldn't get Knee'd in the face after blocking Jeff's knee....(and yes you don't really need to read numbers)

Do people not realise that even if you post strats without numbers its still paper based anyway? (Strategies are just strats...) If someone finds a way to break it add a way to get round that and so forth ...

    Going off tangent never mind..

How many times players are not able to see their life bar in HDR? Alot. How many times do the sound completely shuts off? Alot. How many times players get randomly booted in player matches, alot. And other bugs I can't think of right now. A game that's not clocking 60fps and has a average of 4 moves per character shouldn't be having all this problems. VF5 doesn't have any strange hidcups online like the abundance of bugs HDR has. Both games run smooth depending on the connection of course, but VF5 doesn't have problems like HDR has.You sir FAILED/

In my opinion PS3 version sold more cause it was frikkin half a year or more ahead of xbox version and was the first version of VF5 on a console? Lot of those who bought the ps3 version also didnt buy xbox just for the other version.

Hell, I'd buy VF5R even if it came as uncompiled code in 1500 floppy disks and cost $300.

Online is garnish for me. I could take it or leave it. I just want VF5R!!!!

I just gotta throw my two cents in here real quick...

Online play has been the best thing to happen to my skill level since the year I spent living in Japan. To those who say that online play has no merit: you are incorrect. Sure, maybe lag sometimes messes stuff up, but honestly I've played hours upon hours of games with almost no lag.

And you know what, speaking of lag, I gotta say, people who complain about this are spoiled little brats. I'm not even kidding. My fighting game career (if u can call it that) began on the snes with a little device known as "xband." We played killer instinct. On 14k modems. You think your little broadband connection is too laggy? Please.

Furthermore, the effect of online play on an individual's skill was apparent even back then. I could go to the arcades and pwn hordes of people. My cost 50 cents, theirs countless. Different fighter, true... but the principle is still there, online play is what makes 8 year olds dominate arcade employees.

And one final thing.... both 2p and dmpk have moves that defeat them. A variety of moves in fact. L2yomi and kwicherbitchen

I'm sorry but I have to agree with Jeneric.

Almost all of the problems with HDR are not with the netcode but the program itself. The games rollback at times does cause characters to "teleport" and the PSN version does have pauses at the beginning of the match. Other than that I say most of my connections in HDR are good/great. I find the game very enjoyable when the game isn't glitching out. (the game does glitch a lot /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/mad.gif )

I hardly ever have a good connection when I play VF5 online. On connections under three bars there are so many things I can't do online that I have to say I don't enjoy playing it much at all. Even with full bars I still feel sluggish. The only person I have had excellent connections with where it felt I was playing side by side is Chief Flash.

Honestly as far as netcode is concerned with fighting games the best things are the GGPO and 2DF clients. I've played games with just under 200 ping and it was smooth. I try to only play games under 100 ping where the connection is great!

I agree with all of what you're saying.

It's those players faults though, for getting knee'd at the end of a 32f window. The atmosphere, and the twisting of guessing games prior to the situation, which isn't on paper, makes goofy things such as that happen. The player gets fooled out of a clear head.

I don't think the problem ever was someone bringing in paper responses, I think the problem is that these paper players try to discredit stuff that actually works and has worked(offline).

End up getting exhausted just for trying to post up a bit of info that's been valuable to you and others. To avoid the tiring bs, it's easier to just not post goodies and keep them to yourself.

And to top this all off, what's on paper doesn't even take into account moves that have mysterious properties. These are the type of things that these guys refuse to even believe. Like how for example Wolf and Jeffry have far reaching 2P. Where's that on paper? It's not. A paper player would probably just tell you that their 2P is just like everyone else's in the roster, which isn't true, you can't easily backdash away from theirs as proof.

Pai's 2p is terribly, just wanted to throw that out. She must have tiny trex arms, b/c that thing is highly ineffective.
