Wind up key makes the character seem less life-like. Pretty inventive, cartoony IMO. Wolf just looks like Marduk...

Yeah I really like that guy's Jacky. Thanks for posting his channel. He's the only one I've seen (haven't been watching vids for awhile) who uses the new KPPPK the way I was thinking. Does it really well too.

Damage + big advantage on NH & CH? Heavy wall stagger? RO potential? Nailing slow evades? Quick input from crouch or /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/u.gif/ /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif?

It's tough to argue with the almighty elbow but /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d_.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif had some things to recommend it in vf4.

I get what you are saying and plenty have taken issue with specifically Akira's input simplification but I think in this particular instance we are dealing more with am2's "legacy" approach with R than anything else. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d_.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif >knockdown is not as interesting to me as IN TIGHT /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d_.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif CH + guessing game.

    To each his own.

I am really excited about this change...though that damage might be too too much.

No crouch stagger. No damage on a crouchblocking opponent. Advantage neutered by its massive pushback. Counterable if blocked against a wall. No guaranteed followups from wallstaggers.

Excuse me? What guessing game? It still pushes opponent a mile away. Mukki Akira did it in KS5 videos and dashed in, he was attacked out of whatever he attempted. If anything, the SgPm puts Akira in a bad situation on HIT. Only thing that it has going for it currently is its newfound damage. You can argue that it starts wallstaggers, but its not the only attack to do it, and its not like this ability for wallstaggers was in anyway removed by /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d_.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif~/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif. Latter against a wall plus shoulder/knee does huge chunk of guaranteed damage which is quite comparable the nonguaranteed stagger combos pre-R.

The fact that none of its wallstagger followups has ever been guaranteed has annoyed me to a great extent.

edit: Thats just how I see this move.

Speaking of VF5R wall combos, is wolf's followup guaranteed after his neutral throw makes the opponent hit the wall? /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/confused.gif

Large pushback is GOOD, because of how walls are integrated into 5R, and because the move is now extremely hard to punish. Why the hell would you NOT want a large pushback when at mid-range Akira is a bloody strong character? Also there ARE guaranteed wallstaggers after the palm, but it depends on distance and counterhit.

I'm sorry, but you picked the god damn worst video to illustrate your "point".

Palm #1 (Round 2): Lion is low on health and so is Akira, Lion tries DESPERATION PPP for the round. Akira does anything other than dash in (just look down below), and he wins. The fact that Mukki chose to go in straight for the kill instead of hanging back is a mistake on HIS part. On hit and on block, Akira has the advantage, that is undeniable. Akira's opponent has to guess correctly to do anything to him.

Palm #2 (Round 3): Blocked single palm, Lion tries elbow to counter... IT WHIFFS. What the fuck else do you want from this move? Suck your dick and bring you ice cream?

Palm #3 (Round 4): Lion got hit with back/side-turned or whatever so Akira can't do anything. It's a shortened stun. Who cares. Immediately after, Akira does ANOTHER palm and it's blocked, Lion tries elbow AGAIN and it whiffs COMPLETELY and Akira catches him with d/f+P+K. And you're arguing that this move is somehow not as good as palm -> elbow??

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">You can argue that it starts wallstaggers, but its not the only attack to do it, and its not like this ability for wallstaggers was in anyway removed by /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d_.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif~/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif. You talk like you've played 5R. You haven't.

In this version where ring size in general has gotten A LOT smaller, the huge pushback on single palm is a godsend, and it is by far the easiest way to maximize wall combo damage for Akira. It delivers heavy wallsplat against walls, does insane damage when in a wall combo, and if you're not near a wall, this thing is going to bring you there quickly. I don't even know why I'm typing this up when you haven't played 5R, but I suppose I'll chalk up to the fact that your whining about this change is totally baffling.

Wow, that Akira was nuts. Can't believe how many times he sidestepped the rising kicks too.

What exactly was the notion he was doing for that pattern? I have an idea but never seen that haha.

The one he does at the end of round 1 is /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/u.gif repaeated but he ends it /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif> SPoD.

End of round 2 looks like /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif repeated then /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/u.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/u.gif repeated.

Hmm, actually, I don't think that is what he's doing. Like end of round one, he definitely doesn't box step, and starts with what looks like /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif.

Your eyes might be failing you then /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

Confused me into thinking I was wrong, it's definitely boxstepping with a crocuhdash at the end though. Switch it to fullscreen and watch his feet.

    ; - ; But my vision is 20/18.

Anyway, he definitely started it with /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif at the end of round 1.

You're right though he is boxstepping after first round, my bad. Just looks a lot more smooth and quick than I'm use to. Didn't look like the big, wide-open box I'm use to seeing.

Here you are wrong though, technically lol. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/u.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif After that though at 1:13, he does /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/u.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/u.gif. Both of these I'm use to seeing, use to doing, but still, I don't recall seeing it done so quickly or this smoothly. Wish we had a non-youtube version of this, maybe it's the lack of frames tricking my mind lol.

lol, you're right he is evading a different way each time. Just watched again, looks mad. He starts it backwards though not forwards like you just wrote.

Looks something like... /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/u.gif for a bit then cancels into the same thing but with forward dashes.

    Crazy stuff /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/crazy.gif
