From what I've seen in the vids, Jean joins his J6 comrade, Goh, in being the only two characters in the game who don't have stances.

It seems that when two new characters are added to the game, the usually share something in common. Like Shun and Lion were both shorter than the rest of the cast and were the only two characters that had special "3D" movement; Vanessa and Lei-Fei were both heavily stance-dependent characters; Brad and Goh were both underpowered as hell; Eileen and El Blaze both short, both had stances that run at you and both their names start with E... but I don't see that with Taka and Jean... then again, I kinda skipped VF3 altogether so there is a lot of stuff about Taka I don't know... like what does he have in common (if anything) with his debuting partner, Aoi.

    ^Well...Aoi and Taka, are both...Japanese! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

Besides that fact, gameplay-wise, they have no similarities that I'm aware of...

Damn, they really increased the crazy factor with those new item win poses. Also, it's good to see them bringing the breakaway walls back.

Lucid, I just remembered that a couple of minutes ago and came back to edit in "besides the fact that they're both Japanese" but you beat me to it XD

Looks like Taka's heavy foot stomp is unblockable /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/confused.gif

I think you are using the term stance in place of special actions or movements.

As for the additional characters per sequel it can be seen as what are their differences as well as what they have in common. in VF2 Shun and Lion were te oldest and youngest fighters in the series. In VF3 Aoi was the lightest weight and Taka was the heaviest weight. In VF4 Lei Fei is flowing stances while Vanessa is Manual Switch stances. In Evo Brad is multi directioned movement and a later developed arrogant personality, while Goh is multi direction throws and a later developed sadistic personality. In VF5 the only thing I can gauge at this point is Eileen and El Blaze are the shortest and speediest of the male and female characters. As for R and Jean, it seems now that his main thing is having multiple charged moves.

    A?!

Eileen and El-Blaze both use highly acrobatic moves

nah that foot stomp works like Pai and Goh's inashis... so if someone sidesteps then it hits automatically. It doesn't hit if you just stand still.

No, you're confusing sidesteps with evades, and standing still with neutral.

Who's confusing what? A sidestep is an evade.
